Many claim that 'Take My Breath Away' stole the album's thunder, so to speak. Not so sure about that. This song is terrific, as is 'You Don't Know.' Solid album. I do recall this song playing often on 'alternative' stations, but by '86 seems the politics of radio play became fascist, lol. The 'alternative' station where I grew up (Pgh, PA) was hugely popular but mysteriously shut down in 2-years, in about '87. My friends and I were shocked, and devastated. Our favorite bands, gone from radio.

Berlin was poorly understood in its own time by listeners and whoever their label was did not market them well. They also pretty much got stereotyped by the song "Sex" from Pleasure Victim.

I have always loved this song since high school. Very powerful song driven by the strong vocals of Terri Nunn, the pulsating drum beat, and sharp guitar rhythms. I love the video as well with the desert scene, waving some sort of flag, and the burning flames. Good stuff here!

In the mid-80s, I saw Berlin open for Yes. Yes was on the upswing thanks to a hugely successful album. They blew Yes off the stage, I thought. I saw them again when they were headliners - they were even better. It's a good thing Teri Nunn didn't get the role of Princess Leia; there would never have been Berlin.

@@tacitblue69 Depends what Yes you like. I didn't care that much for 80s Yes. Compared to Berlin's high-energy performance and Teri Nunn's powerful vocals, Yes looked stiff and kind of bored. The high point of Berlin's set was Take My Breath Away. From the stage she reached out to hundreds of outstretched hands -- everyone wanted to touch her. It's rare you see that kind of connection between the performer and the audience, save for Peter Gabriel.

That's why I miss the 80's era by artists like Terri Nunn, with spectacular voice quality, deep and high voice and excellent performances live!! Meaningful and inspiring songs! This is to be a complete artist and not like those of today who have no talent to sing and never compare with singers like, Terri Nunn of Berlin, who are goddesses of the song!!!

TV program - The Tube. A British rock magazine programme, where all the bands played live.Based in Tyneside, England. With the original presenters Jools Holland (ex Squeeze Keyboard player, and of Late Night with Jools Holland etc... and the late Paula Yates.) Went out on Friday night evening 5pm. Berlin were supporting 'Frankie Goes to Hollywood' on this British Tour.Played two songs on this show. 'You Don't Know' and 'Like Flames'. They were on fire! (no pun intended)

I bought this Maxi-Single in 1987 at the age of nineteen, one year after "Take my breath away" and "Top Gun" had been in the german cinemas. And i still had "Like Flames" and my Denon DP-59 turntable for playing and listening to it today. And both still remembers me at good times in my youth... ;-)

That's what I think! There's another clip of this with 'You Don't Know' as well & whenever they show the audience, they look bored or something. One scene shows a girl look over at the person next to her & turns back & it looks like she was laughing. I'm like, why you are laughing? Terri kills it on 'You Don't Know. Powerful shit.

Count 3 and prey was a fantastic album. Shame 'that' love song from 'that' film spoilt the rest of what was a great album. Colaboration with David Gilmore of Pink Floyd on it as well.

You kind of have to chalk it up as a "filler" song. Yes this album COOKED for sure, but "that" song gave a horrible impression. They should have put it one on the "Love life" release and put "no more words" on Count 3 and pray. BTW I was sorely disappointed when I heard "Love life". I was expecting big things after hearing Count 3 and Pleasure victim.

Lesrevesdhiver You do realise Love Life was released between those other two albums... And I understand and am glad TMBA from Top Gun was on the album. The band needed & deserved more exposure and it gave it to them and enabled them to travel the parts of the world they hadn’t seen before. Also, if you actually just listen without prejudice, it is an absolutely incredible song and doesn’t negate from the rest of Count 3 & Pray at all
