Not really. Some characters are just bad (You find character’s gameplay clunky or boring, you don’t like the way his mechanics work, you think character underperforms or you have a more comfy alternative. There can be a lot of reasons to not play a character even if you like his design or personality. I am tired of all that nonsense that people reply me with, so I’ll say it for the last time - it might be true for you, you might not care about gameplay or strength or meta, it’s okay! It just doesn’t apply to everyone. I have a lot of characters I like, not only in HSR, but I will never use them just because they are annoying to play or I just can take a better team. That’s all I wanted to say, stop it please)

"Most fun" being; playing on auto white watching the fight with popcorn on the side. If that's your "fun" then good for you. The point of the video is literally saying that those kinds of dps are getting really boring in the long run since there's no thinking needed and basically just auto and win. ps. I had Seele since release and I get what the video is saying. Yes, playing on auto is literally stress-free. But sometimes, I can't help but yearn for the challenge aspect. Hence why I swap out Qingque for Seele if I want to "PLAY", if you get what I mean.

I don't have blade, don't have any lcs for IL, the only thing i got is a clara and a jingliu for my MoC teams in terms of dps. Hence the reason why I want to get Topaz even tho im on a 50/50 with no pity no tickets whatsoever, because she will make my clara so much more fun to play, ESPECIALLY also with the new followup set coming soon

Not to be a downer but you'll get over it in few weeks. The same old rotation will become tiresome eventually. Same reason why I didn't pull for Jingliu even though I want to try the Blade combo. I know I'll get bored out of it and regret getting Jingliu because I'm not a huge fan of her character. I just collect characters I like, aesthetic wise at this point.

This is probably an opinion that resonates with me the most After playing genshin, when I come to HSR, I came with a different view on characters. I will only pull for characters that I want, it could be because they're meta, it could be because I like their kits, or any other reasons. I think both extreme side of casual and meta-competitive follower can be rather annoying sometimes, if not many times. I get it, you want to deal the highest damage possible, with the most worth while investment both in terms of time, in-game resources, and money, but people are not going to always be the most rational and logical being possible. Us players will decide to pull for a character(s) based on our own ideals. Even if a character turns out to be not so meta and do not have worth while investment compared to other character(s), people can have other reasons to pull for them such as waifu/husbando, the character's kit looks interesting, etc. At this point you don't even need another dps if you have top dps such as Danil, Jingliu, Blade, Seele, or heck even JY, you're pretty much set up for good. I pull for future dps or supports because I find their kit interesting, not because they're an absolute meta top tier dps. Calling characters such as Mid-Yuan or Midpaz won't change anything in their kit since their kit is already a pretty solid one, might not be the most perfect one tho. While the casual side can also be annoying like you said. If people can have fun trying to figure out what the highest damage possible, what's the best match up, etc, let them be. Just don't force your own world view on others like they're playing the game wrong, lol.

I'm planning to pull for Seele. But with only 20 pulls saved up before her rerun, I doubt I'll get her. But if by some hoyo miracle that I do get her, I want to pair her with Jing Liu. Can you advise me what team comp I can use how I can efficiently use them in one team without draining my SP to 0?

@@lestercruz4073 The team im using her is jingliu, Pela, Seele and Luocha wich is not very FTP friendly having 3 limited 5 stars. As for saving SP it depends taking advantage of the normal Attacks with Luocha and Pela. I decided to use Seele as a sub dps because the relics I had benefited me for that. Im using the Inert Salsotto planar sphere and link rope set (with an energy rope) because I want her to be ready to ULT as soon as possible.

Its funny because I can also use seele with blade or with jingliu because with blade and jingliu Aoe they just open up for Seele to normal-> resurgence E and its so much fun. And the sp management is so much duoable with Pela, Bronya, Lynx/Luocha with multiplitive lc. I honestly think Seele have the potential to be a sub dps and everyone just miss it.

This is honestly what I thought Eruditions role initially was. To soften the battlefield up like an air strike (remove those pesky shields if there are any) and then the execution/real damage follows. Destruction units currently are just insanely strong, given current content, and it's become all you need. The current balance of characters is making it hard for a casual player to see past the surface towards a more dynamic "enabling" play-style.

It's not that "everyone just missed it". Seele being a subdps is somewhat pointless. Putting Seele as your subdps simply means you have extra "hypercarry" dps lying around and just want to use her since you already built her and feel bad not using her. Seele is a HYPERCARRY and her kit revolves around using E to spd boost and SPAMMING ULT through SPAMMING E and killing enemies. When you plan to limit her E potential, might as well put a proper subdps that matches the element of the opponent. lol

As someone who picks dpses that I simp for. My main dpses being Blade, Jingyuan and DanhengIL, I can say with certainty I have not gotten bored of playing them in the slightest. I've cleared swarm 5 multiple times and have been 30 starring Moc continuously so there isn't much more one can ask for. This is why so many people tell others to pick characters they like/like the playstyl of, it's because when you pick units depending on meta only, you might run into this problem that you just get bored of them more quickly. Sure, It's cool when the unit you like happens to be meta, but if you pull units that you don't particularly enjoy for the sole reason of them being powerful, that's when the boredom can kick in. Basically, put standards for who you pull in that they need to be both a unit you like and they need to perform reasonably well so that you don't struggle when using them in hard content. And honestly, like smack said, all limited 5 stars are good options, just pick the ones you like.

Unironically, meta doesn’t exist in this game and genshin. Sure, some characters are technically “stronger” than others. But if u can finish the same endgame shit as the worst units, is there even a “meta”? I come from fps games, meta actually matters in those games as it can make the difference between a win or loss. Imo, meta would only exist in this game if some units can physically not do the content the “meta” units are doing. Which just isn’t the case in this game. There have been multiple 0 cycles with herta, Arlan, Dan heng, serval, and even main dps pela. There’s quite literally no content that gatekeeps the low tier characters from performing. Meta doesn’t matter in this game or genshin. There are no competitive elements and u can’t get a “faster 0 cycle” if it’s still a 0 cycle at the end of the day. (If ur doing the prydwen PvP it’s a bit different, meta would matter then). But trying to argue “meta” in a solo game as easy as HSR and genshin, just doesn’t seem productive to me. TLDR: doesn’t really matter who u pull for because u can clear the game with anyone. Imo meta doesn’t exist in games like this, if the content is not that difficult. From an fps player perspective, there isn’t a threshold where characters just won’t work no matter how built they may be. But in actual competitive games, a wrong character pick makes the difference if u win or lose. Y’all r free to debate me on this, but yeah. Meta doesn’t exist/doesnt matter in these type of games.

@@thornszk not really. Tbh it’s just an investment difference. My jingliu with 3k atk 45/280 can 0 cycle moc. But so can my hook. And quite literally, u don’t get any extra rewards for clearing in 4 cycles vs clearing in 0. There isn’t any extra incentive to try and clear as fast as possible. If it takes u 6-8 cycles to clear one side, that simply means u just need to farm for better relics. I slapped blade Kafka and jing liu with a lynx on one side, and hook Clara tingyun fu xuan on the other. It doesn’t matter if it’s not efficient if I can still clear 3-4 cycles per side, it doesn’t really matter if it’s not “meta”. Now, if there were rewards for clearing in 0 cycles sure. Somewhat of a “meta” would exist. But any dps rn can 0 cycle. What makes a jingliu/ dan heng IL 0 cycle better than a hook or serval 0 cycle? Quite literally nothing. But if ur in a fps game like overwatch for example, if u run a genji into a Tripple flier comp with a Winston/zarya 1000% ur getting flamed to all fuck to swap off. Not only is it a PvP game, but most competitive games are team based. HSR/genshin are solo games with no extra incentive to clear any faster if u can already clear it. And if ur gonna make the argument that “not all people have the same account investment” it’s literally just a matter of time before a player gets the right investment for them to clear the content. I think it's unfair to point out Seele and Imbibitor Lunae as they have been the units who only have the mono teams and hypercarry supports to catch their back because they simply were just working for them. The only sp unit we're getting is Hanya and we would probably see future units that plays around the sp mechanic. The same argument can be said for Kafka as while she works as a hypercarry, we can all agree it's not her optimal team either, her entire kit literally screams DoT. She also doesn't have her premium team yet, but she isn't making the game boring simply because we have smaller roster for DoT. Jingliu just happens to enable Blade, but otherwise she's also the typical hypercarry with Bronya Tingyun. If we get a Blade for sp, will Seele and Imbibitor Lunae become fun too? EDIT: If anything, Blade is the one making the game fun and not Jingliu herself. Despite being Destruction, Blade works in most teams because his kit just revolves around stacking to win whether it's his turn or not, same as Clara with her counterattacks like they're somehow incorporated with erudition gameplay. While Jingliu doesn't have a similar mechanic and only deals upfront dmg just like the rest of Destruction units.

Actually jingliu without blade doesn't go through hypercarry only options. U can still use her as sub dps since her kit still works it that way. In current MoC 10 i pair her with himeko and it work just fine while the prev MoC i pair her with JY and it still work just fine. While some may say it's better to just use hypercarry jingliu rather than that kind of team since hypercarry jingliu deals better dmg but i am not here to argue which is better. I am just here to state that she still works as sub dps like how clara&blade works as sub dps.

Meanwhile, we still don't have anyone else to cover up Imbibitor Lunae and Seele's sp consumption restrictions aside from their mono teams, which is my point, their team restrictions is just the result of lack of roster options and not themselves. If we were able to have units that focuses on sp, then the both of them can work as sub dps either. In IL's case, he can just have someone who scales on how many sp used to deal follow-up attack dmg and he'll be considered fun or anything else that enables the sp mechanic in favor for sp hungry characters. Just how people would think Jingliu will work on every masochist units.

I don't think you understand what was said in the video. Boring and weak aren't the same thing. He's saying that the synergy between Jingliu and Blade is fun, new, & refreshing instead of just the boring "optimal" hypercarry option. If there's a more entertaining way to clear the content, then why not do it? Meta is valuable when there's no other way to do something except to follow the meta. Jingliu x Blade revealed vividly that you don't need to play the meta version of a character, if there's a more entertaining method to clearing the same thing. And when you pull your synergistic character (probably Hanabi) and pair her with IL Dan Heng (who is already meta), then perhaps you'll understand. It might not be necessary, but it's fun AND gets the job done, then go for it.

I think issue is that best supports in game currently are the ones that support hyper buff composition and those who support multi dps composition are either not super good(asta) at it compared to tingyuan or bronya or best way to play them is to play in hyper buff composition (e6 yukong) so until a support comes who support mulit dps comps it would be really difficult to use different styles

It’s not just that, it’s that the hyper carry dps units don’t have particular synergy with other dps units. You could run two hyper carry dps units together but they don’t lift each other up. But running Jing Liu with Blade lifts Blade. Kafka with Sampo lifts them both. Topaz and Clara. But Dragon Dan and Seele just use too many skill points between them, they drag each other down by each trying to hog too many resources.

I know, that hypercarry team is more boosted for about 16%, but don’t know, what stats and what rotation is used with dual dps team. If we put bronya we make her 160 spd, else we won’t have enough sp, but at the same time hyperspeed bronya is tha waste of sp, cuz she becomes neutral and blade doesn’t consume much sp and JL too, so we will have free 3-4 sp for nothing. But if we can run 135/134 JL/bronya with and have enough sp, it will be great.

I always primarily pull waifu, anything else is only if I have a pull surplus, so to a certain extent I always like who I pull. Anyway my opinions on each limited DPS: (* means I own them, I have all as borrow options on friends list to try) Seele*: Constant my turn is fun, but I can understand if someone finds that boring Jing Yuan: I borrow him for Phantylia every week, he gets the job done, his lightning lord follow-ups always feel fun, but his skill doesn't feel fun and the skill point consumption isn't fun either Blade: Really fun, feels amazing every time I borrow him regardless of team Kafka*: DoT go brr, so fun to watch the DoTs trigger, can't wait for other 5* DoT characters to make Kafka hit harder Imbibitor Lunae: Big Numbers fun, skill point consumption and team restrictions not fun Jingliu*: Really fun, big dmg, timing the ult feels slightly more interactive then other characters, love trying to get 4+ hits off in the transcendent state, insanely fun to use with Blade Favorite to least favorite: Jingliu>Kafka>Blade>Seele>Jing Yuan>Imbibitor Lunae

90% of the players are playing just for fun because they are kids or teenagers, and very touchy. 10% are adults that are doing the same thing but want some challenge, strategic thinking and they just realised, now that their characters are at max, that this game is the easiest game they played.

legit. hell the I reason enjoy this game very much is because of its casual gameplay. work and life already stressful enough I don't need another source of stress to add to my life. csgo and dota 2 gave me plenty of that already. I'd rather have harder content to clear than a competitive system.

yup turn team building games are alleys about them buffs and debuffs as long as the PVE comp has a def breaker the rest can be adjusted to just have fun and clear it as fast as possible in any of this games cutting clear time is the biggest goal for me

seele has enough nuance to her with the speed turning and sp management, and u still gotta think what targets ur gonna focus to proc ur talent more effectively and not waste energy or turns. yes, she's hypercarry in a sense cause she only does dmg with her kit, but her mechanism of applying the dmg is much more enjoyable than dan imo. I still enjoy the more flexible dps like blade and kafka but a hyper carry is still fun if the unit itself is fun to pilot. Dan is pretty much the only one who has this problem truly in the game so far where he's pretty stale to play mechanically speaking.

JY can potentially do it but the enemy has no lightning weakness. And yeah im talking about dps, offensive support, offensive support, healer set up rather than 3 offensive support

That's a subjective take. I personally never liked Seele because you need to pick off enemies one at a time, DanhengIL on the other hand is very satisfying to me since you just wipe multiple enemies at a time I guess I just like Aoe units way more than single target ones

But to me, he's become stale very quickly, think of it like the 1st time u had a good elation or nihility run in sim-uni, once u get them big numbers a few times it becomes normal and the sense of novelty goes away but that's just me tho. Also, seele's mechanic is far more fun in turn based game than just "do more dmg" imo. To each their own ofc and I think mihoyo while ass at balance are great at character diversity so you'll always have something to enjoy 👍.

You hit the nail on the head with how important supports are. The strongest teams always have 2 or even 3 buffers and debuffers on them. Having a double DPS team might seem more interesting because it's different, but it's always better to bring a second support instead. Even Kafka which has insane synergy with DoTs has similar damage in a hypercarry comp compared to when paired with a DoT unit. Topaz might shake things up a little but we'll have to wait and see.

I completely vine with this. After pulling Seele, Imbibitor, and Jingliu, I’m super excited for Topaz because she’s NOT as hyper offensive as them and can be run with more unique team comps! Also, definitely getting Kafka on her rerun!

I agree with you regarding Kafka being fun to use, love the fact that she's not just limited to only Nihility DoT characters because she actually synergizes quite decently with non nihility characters that apply dot debuffs from their traces i.e. Himeko. So, being able to insert and mix different characters ups the "fun" factor for me

I've been running my DHIL on a not very SP efficient comp (E2 Yukong, Tingyun, FuXuan) and it's honestly been very fun. I give a lot of thought on who is gonna skill and how I can get the max out of my rotation. I could swap in Pela and just never worry about it but that would be boring. By comparison my Jingliu feels way more brainless. She takes almost no resources and you just kinda blitz through stuff without much thought. Maybe if I pull Blade in the future that will be more fun. It comes down to personal taste.This is a pretty easy game, and caring too much about meta is asking to optimize the fun out of the game.

I think for newer players having at least 1 top tier DPS is vital. The same way one tappin the whole game is boring, getting stuck in a boss because your DPS doesnt do enough damage can also be boring. This happened to me as well as soon as I beat MoC10 the first time, you cant do more than that. Zero cycle or otherwise 🤷🏻♂️ Great stuff💪

I realy think u are one of the best theory crafters in Hoyoverse games. I heard about you being too good in theory crafting that even MiHoyo warned you when u were a small content creator, I watched Raiden videos and they were realy informative. I have Raiden but i read her abilities and stuff so long ago i even forgot that Genshin have supports for Raiden bcs i already do 100k with a F2P raiden brainlesly. So thanks to your video i know now what should i do to increase that 100k to 300k maybe.

I largely feel the same and have for a while. I think that, for me, because HSR is a relatively rather simplistic game (I mean, your number of options compared to other JRPGS is very small,) it's even more important for characters to have some juice in their kit. In these relatively constrained battles, it feels all the better when a character opens up different build options and ways of playing. That's a large part of why I pulled for Kafka and also why I'll be pulling for Numby, but I can't ever see myself pulling for another character who just 'does damage' in the future unless they've got some fantastic writing attached to them. I hope the characters get more and more wacky until we've got guilty gear dudes who attack by having the player play casino games or something.

I agree in that the options are very limited compared to other turn-based games. There is no guard option. There is no using items in battle (Seriously, what's the point in letting us craft millions of stat items if we can't use them in battle or even for MOC or SU?). Other RPGS, and even gacha RPGS like FFBE, I've played in the past had this option. The main thing that attracted me to this game combat wise aside from cool animations and characters were the things you don't typically see in other rpgs like follow-up attacks, counter-attacks and so on. But even that's starting to get stale for some. I feel like if possible, (and I highly doubt it because it will need a massive overhaul) Mihoyo should add a 3rd skill button or even just a guard or item tab we can use mid battle.

It seems like they want to keep things casual, which is fine, but... they're really gonna hae to get funky with some of these kits in that case, lol. i'd be down for a chef character that takes buffs off of allied units and then turns them into horrifying food dishes to feed to the enemies. Gimme something WEIRD I do think, though, there's a strong possibility that additional game modes might give us stuff like that. Like, Aetherium wars, with the chip customization, already provided us a way to build (besides the fact that we were using enemy units) that we hadn't seen before. I'm really, reaaally hoping for some kind of...grand strategy mode that lets us use more than eight units at once, but I know that's a super long shot lol.

HSR, to me, is what I wanted out of Yu-Gi-Oh. Kids thought Yu-Gi-Oh was about picking your favorite cards and creating your own unique synergistic deck. But the game quickly shifted towards meta. And if you're not playing meta, then you're just not playing the game at all. HSR has a very simple, easy, flexible meta. Because of that, it leaves plenty of space for people to have fun strategizing pulls and inventing their own teams on their accounts. Cuz basically, if you can clear MoC10 and engame content, then you don't need to think about meta anymore and you can just focus on pulling for fun. Once you have Bronya or Tingyun and 2 limited 5 star DPSes, you're done. Now you can play the game however you want. I'd even go as far as saying that the majority of "playing" Honkai Star Rail is in the team-building phase - which involves both: pulling strategies and team setup. Much like deck building in Yu-Gi-Oh. You spend most of your time building that engine. And then you wait for the dopamine hit to kick in when you watch the big plan unfold.

I mostly pull for stuff that I think will be engaging. Did I partially pull on Kafka because she is hot, sure, but I mostly had already been using DoT characters from the start (I love DoT damage in games) and she makes DoT even more fun. I'm pulling Topaz because I have a lot of follow-up characters I like and want to eventually find a way to make a Persona/Stand User team work. I like experimenting with party comps and character interactions. The game gives us 6 team slots to experiment with for overworld and daily stuff so that we can have an idea of what to pick in the modes that make you select your teams on entry (Forgotten Hall, Simulated Universe, some events) and it would be boring as heck if all six were just the same combinations of a sustain, two harmony characters, and a damage dealer. The game allows so much more freedom than that even if the other way is more safe and/or optimal at times.

the only thing is competitive in this game is how much money you can spend. i don't feel any competitiveness when the game has soo much random factors and the fact you need to spend your money to have decent build on many characters and pull for every character and soo much luck involved. i genuinely can't understand how you can have that feeling of competitiveness on gacha game

This. I get what he's saying regarding competition, but trying to turn everything into one is also dumb so 🤷. Competitiveness has its places and gacha games are not it. I mean, Smack himself gave us a good example of this with his video about clearing world 5 of The Swarm with his favourite characters. He's clearly the kind of player who knows what he's doing in many regards (how characters work individually, how they synergize, how The Swarm itself works, etc) but he still was only able to clear world 5 because he got lucky and got an event that gave him all of the Remembrance path blessings. Otherwise he would have not been able to succeed, not even close, he said it himself. That's why competitiveness (at least in the super sweaty way that he keeps mentioning) doesn't have much place in this kind of game where luck is such a huge factor. 'Cause being a genius when it comes down to building characters and creating team comps and strategies doesn't mean anything if you're super unlucky and don't get the stats you need or the buffs/blessings you need or the weapons (and superimpositions) you need, etc. 🤷

I've sort of reached the same wall. I have four DPS I've built and have 30 starred MoC every cycle for the past month now that I don't need another DPS. I've decided to strictly pull for characters that I like. Whether it be kit wise, characterisation, or aesthetic. I've never cared for meta and I still don't. I'm super excited for Argenti because his animations and aesthetics are too good for me to pass up. Those are the sorts of things i enjoy in this game.

The best way is to pull for a chracter you like the look and kit of. Dont worry about how meta they are. I got Kokomi on her first banner. Loved her. She was regaurded as a terrible character bc she was just another healer that healed way too much but people slowly learned how great she was and now people want her for how versitile her kit is. Offield hydro application and a healer makes her good for lots of Dendro teams. I do think though that its boring to have to use 3 buffers and a main dps. I like specialized supporting units. I would like lots more niche supports. Also a competitive mindset can be very very toxic so its a hit or miss. Some people take it a little too far. If one person like a character and uses them in a wonky team bc they enjoy the asthetic or something. Some person will come around roasting them about it. There are highs and lows in pve communities like this. PvP is a whole different ball park. Its in their nature to be competitive bc thats literally what the game is.

I am in line with this opinion here. The only reason I pulled for Seele early on is because I got annoyed at all the quantum weaknesses that I couldn't get through (My QQ at the time was E0 due to terrible pull luck for her eidolons). She helped with that, but as we got more and more units to work with and better options. I completely stopped using Seele once I got Blade and Kafka. Seele and DHIL is just very boring to play. Jingliu really gives me that vibe that shows that Destruction Characters (so far) put Hunt characters to shame in terms of the fun factor. Especially with more and more content becoming more AOE focused as well, I predict that Hunt characters are just gonna fall off more and more in place of Destruction characters that can do the Blast (3 target AOEs) and output crazy amounts of damage. The only exception to the fun factor is DHIL.... Oh yea, great. I love just being forced to run hypercarry to stay skill point efficient (Didn't pull for him. Used as a support for a calyx one time). Kafka comps with her being a sub DPS or Jingliu Blade comps have been giving me dopamine hits left and right. I love it. I know that Topaz and Numby will be out soon, but unless you are an overworld gamer or you know...want to look at their spicy character model. They just look so boring. Yea, the follow ups are cool and all, but she just looks VERY boring. It really saddens me too, because I was gonna pull for her till I played Jingliu as a support character for a Calyx and said... "You know what. I'm gonna pull for her along with the 4 star Eidolons I need". Bottomline, they really need to put more characters out like Jingliu and Kafka that enables more comps. Hoping that Argenti brings another playstyle change to the fold or well. Just bring with him a bunch of Erudition support, because right now it feels like a path they straight up forgot about LMAO. It feels good not having to overly invest or yell at the AI for buffing someone wrong. Not caring about having to babysit a dps battery is peak gaming. Long winded comment I know, but this has been my gripe with DPS characters till recently.

Just curious, this might come as a surprise... but why not... just use the dps characters in different teams? They don't need to be superjacked to clear content. You could even use 4 dps characters if that's what you want and still clear with no issues. If you don't like a character's animations, that's all well and good, but let's not kid ourselves, all characters are the same you press a button and they do their thing. It's just their look and animations that are different. But compwise? Nah, you can run whatever you want with no restrictions. But ye the AI is shit for some characters, it's why I stopped using my E6 pela, aside from the fact that's she's worse than other supports for Jingliu. On a side note, don't hold your breath on Argenti as he might be the exception to all I said

@@Audaciter2 The reason I do not run multi DPS comps outside of Jingliu + Blade is because it gets a bit too cluttered. That, plus I am still building a bunch of my supports as well too. For MOC, I try to clear very quickly to get those stars. Of course, multi-dps comps can work depending on the character. However, the meta has been hypercarry.mp4 without any real deviation from that. That, plus (at least in my experience, so it could heavily differ from yours) multi-DPS comps have been less than favorable due to a lack of synergy or in the case of the DOT comp I made then realizing that Samp is a complete fraud defensively no matter how I build him. It gets really annoying trying to clear things. Like tonight, I just ran a QQ hypercarry, but the thing is though she brings the RNG factor to the table and makes things fun and interesting. That is where my point comes from. I don't really like hypercarry that much, but some characters are just designed to be hypercarries, but at least make them fun to use. Seele is just boring to use and DHIL as well forcing a hypercarry set up for skill point efficiency imho. I like to see big number, but doing it the same way can feel very meaningless after a while. You know what I mean?

@@ShadowCrescent Let's take Seele as an example, mine can auto clear MoC 10 with 3 sustainers on her team in 5 cycles (if her relics weren't so bad, maybe even 3), manual can 1 cycle with the same team. Sure she works better as a hypercarry, but so do 100% of the dealers. It''s a choice on who you want to run with the characters. All this talk how X needs Y and what not, it's just blabbering for the sake of blabbering and is 100% untrue. The game is not so hard that you need to sweat and pick the best of the best choices. Nothing wrong with sweating, don't get me wrong, but at the end of the day no matter how much you sweat..like say gachasmack, he was so excited when he 0 cycled with Jingliu.. meanwhile someone like me comes and autoes it with 0 cycle. Big numbers are nice and all, I get it.. it's the reason why people like characters like QQ even if they aren't good. 5 targets, 5 hits, almost no dmg on the elite but the numbers are high so it makes them feel good. I get the RNG thing as well, we are playing a gacha game after all so people get excited when there's a chance to lose. But again there really is no difference between the characters. You press a button, they do their thing. That's why it's better to play such games with characters you like (animations/aesthetic) and make them work the way you want to, not rely on what others tell you is the right way to use them.

This time i Auto Cleared MoC 10 the first time and i dont even have Jingliu, i have done swarm 5 multible times and i feel you, contentwise there is nothing that really needs you to push for certain DD's, Support and Heals is all u need to have build up. On the other side im also quite happy there is nothing really extreme hard at the moment cause it makes Powercreep less to no problem at all. Also its friendlier for new people who just started and have a chance to catchup quite easy atm. I think if i would start new i would only pull for Luocha and FuXuan (mb Silverwolf) and focus the rest of the time to equip my 4* as good as possible and take 5* DD's only who i really like and enjoy them. Meta thinking is not really needed anymore in Starrail when u have Luocha, FuXuan, Bronja and Ting, (Silverwolf) well geared and leveled.

I started playing this game with the very mindset you've just come to. It's actually kinda cool hearing an intelligent content creator like yourself come to this conclusion. I'm f2p. I only summon for characters that have style and creative flare. It's why I chose to save and get our General over Seelie and chose Fu Xuan and Jing Liu over Dan. I like cool combinations. I like using my favorite dps with each other. I want to play with as many of the characters I pick up together as possible. That's what's truly fun to me. (I said fun don't hurt me sir!) I do enjoy watching how creative minds like yours and others work and the joy you guys get out of zero cycles is fun to see. 43 going 44 soon. I been playing video games since I was a toddler. This game is definitely my favorite gacha game ever. Also sir next time wait on your daughter to wake and wife to come home. No one is coming to watch just you on summoning day! 😆 🤣 😂 jk

Loving the competitive aspect is totally understandable brother. I personally love it just as much as the other stuff though. So I pull and play for many reasons and it's easier for me to still love an IL or a Seele regardless of how they play..but I get it. I totally get it too. If I didn't like them as characters, their story, and how they feel to play with..I'd be like nahhhhhh. Gimmie some interesting things. Plus I think from jump you've always loved the creative builds brother. I came to this channel for those (stayed cause you're awesome).

i'm with you on that one, i like when a character can be played different ways. But not everyone likes to think when they play a game, if they can go bazonkas boom pow pow *explosion* all ded, that's what making them happy. For me i like to bring surprising team comp or use a character a way it wasn't foresight to be in. I like character like guinaifen, that can be a fantastic dot unit, but can still function pretty well in a nuke team thanks to her firekiss (even if you need to stack it unlike pela). I like Welt because his playstyle enables other character in some fantastic ways even if he's not usable with every unit since some need the enemy to take turns regularly. I wish march would have a better version of her because i like the character but her kit contradicts itself (enabling counter while freezing the enemy is kinda weird tbh). I like to test things and see if it works most of the time i'm spending all my time and ressources on this game doing that. I got jingliu while trying to get eidolons for my QQ and i feel like i'm kinda forced to play her to clear certain content to be able to get the ressources i need to build my "toys". I like topaz because i want to try the follow up characters, but most "officially" follow up characters are just bad at follow ups in my opinions because the conditions for it to happens is niche when topaz needs someone that could do it more consistently than "when i broke 3 ennemy" or "when an enemy drops below 50%" . The uptime just isn't there :( Btw i lost the 50/50 on topaz banner i'm pretty sadge... Sorry for the long read but tldr : i do hope they introduce more unique and interesting character than just "go bazoonkas" ones. I don't like playing double harmony or harmony/pela(prettymuch) team i find it very very boring when the character in the team don't have any synergies apart from "you buff me, i go kill" which is not a synergy imo.

Clara kafka is one of my favorites, and i just built himeko and she is very nice with another subdps. It also works since star rail is putting out so many dps characters and i want to use them all lol

That's the thing about this game that I honestly appreciate. If there is no difference in result between character A and character B, even though there is a *massive* difference in performance between the two then neither fans of A nor fans of B will feel shafted by the game no matter who's the better character. From a meta standpoint though, I understand the disappointment. I'm just glad that HSR is a game that caters to the casual side more than the meta side.

I think its fine for destruction to dominate the hypercarry meta. It works very well, and we have examples of sp hungry dps + sp friendly supports as well as the opposite. For the hunt+erudition team comp, we only have one sp hungry dps of each, but are missing the sp friendly versions to pair them with. Topaz is sp friendly and synergizes with Jingyuan, but Seele is still missing a good sp friendly erudition unit to synergize with. Kafka is the core of dot comps, but is still missing 5 star dot units to pair her with. With the right units we could have three different comparable meta comps, and we can only hope Hoyo doesnt drop the ball.

This is why I'm a proud 100% f2p player, bcs that alone has already provided alot of challenges for me. I cleared the current moc with 30 stars without jingliu, sw, and bronya at all (bcs I don't have em) and boi it felt very rewarding. I admit that I do have limited characters, but my dhil is the only decently built one (sig LC + 70/149 crit ratio which is purely bcs I was lucky), and I kid you not he's not rly the main dps in my account either. It could take awhile until he could reach 100k damage, and it took me a couple of tries to beat the last half of moc 10 with him, it wasn't done in a breeze at all. I have both 5* and 4* characters invested in my team and I couldn't be any prouder with them. Heck, I have so much fun using non-ideal characters - blade with the 3* LC mutual demise + 2 longevous 2 wind set + inert salsotto, 200% break effect asta as my sole fire dps, my jing yuan with breakfast LC and measly 50/100 crit ratio etc but who cares? Dealing 100k++ damage isn't actually necessary to clear moc. Sure, not as good as the shiny characters other players have, but issokay at the end of the day this is just a video game to alleviate my boredom and I have many other goals to achieve IRL. What I'm trying to say is that I love how being f2p bcs I wouldn't heavily depend on hoyo to spoonfeed me with busted characters with busted LC and relics in order to clear contents, I'd take rescources planning and characters investing very seriously due to how limited they are for an f2p. That's not even talking abt strategizing in battles yet. If I get Bronya, I'd just use past and future LC on her so that it wouldn't feel like I could only beat the game cuz she's hella broken. And being well aware that I won't always win 50/50s, I won't always have enough jades, and I won't always have everything. But to be able to win the difficult battles nevertheless, with just what I have at the moment? Very satisfying. I personally never cared abt who is the strongest, what is their placement in the tierlists bcs I thought it's kinda stupid? We all know meta will always change anyway, and the moc will always cater to the latest banner character. Hence, seeing ppl bragging abt 0-cycling the current moc with their whaled jingliu + bronya and doomposting other limited characters makes me like "....." So what if our fave is mid? Wouldn't that bring a new challenge for us, especially if the game has become too easy? Seriously, nothing beats the feeling of slowly making our fave grow stronger despite what others say abt em. And defeating the boss after the painful investment? Extreme bliss. After all - RULES ARE MADE TO BE BROKEN. Said character needs alot of investment? Dude, that'd give a reason to play the game when there's no new content. Gameplay becomes repetitive and stale bcs of that? Then put down the game for a bit and let the TB power accumulate over time, find something else to do until the interest kicks in again. TLDR, being f2p is so fun bcs it opens an opportunity for me to use my brain as a seasoned jrpg gamer more, and it could lead to creating interesting or creative strategies, especially if it involves rarely used characters like herta and himeko. This is why, the game will never be boring to me cuz I'll never follow how hoyo wants me to play it, the constant challenges in being an f2p (cough cough relic farming), and not to forget handsome husbandos ❤❤❤

I always find it more fun to just mess around with characters and see what sort of weirdness can be made. Whether it's playing standard kafka dot burn or playing a weird comp of full harmony sweep. I think that's what helps with the longevity of the game, just having fun with the characters you pick up and ignoring meta or solving the problem of "i don't have this resistance as a dps, but I'll make due"

This is why I love Silver Wolf and Fu Xuan They can fill multiple different roles depending on how you build them. Like my SW is a DPS and my Fu Xuan is built to maximize healing, while being able to mitigate as much damage as possible.

That's not really a great example 'cause whether you clear the moc in a 10 or 0 cycle, you get the same rewards. So in both cases you're "getting an A". That's why the super sweaty way doesn't make much sense. Also, "meta slave" doesn't mean you care about meta. It means you're obsessed with it and believe it is the only way to beat the game or the only "right way" to play it. Which is dumb so.

Well yeah, but the other way is just as toxic. You often see people who only play the strongest dpses mocking others for playing anything that they don't see as the best. I think the moral is that people just need to let others enjoy the game whichever way they want.

Seele actually doable in double teams,her basic attack has advance forward and decent damage,even in mono Quantum team with qingque she can just use basic attack and perform well. But it's completely different for imbibitor lunae, his gameplay is just save skill points with others and use all on him,he is so boring to play when you already have units like jingliu and blade. This why kafka and topaz are so fun to play,they have synergies with multiple characters, can create multiple team compilations and also do with future units, these characters make the game intresting and make people look forward to the future content

I'm also running into the problem where every team i build is composed the same way, hypercarry or dot, with anything else being clunky and not so smooth, like characters don't particularly interact with eachother's skills in a dynamic way besides increasing their numbers for the most part however this is a problem that will solve itself as more charactes get added to the game, with each added character the potential compositions grow permutationally, and it was probably intentional to start things off simple because they will naturally get more and more complicated on their own as they add relic sets, characters, lightcones and so on with hopefully more and more unique effects (ofc if they don't have such foresight the gameplay could get dull though)

I definitely understand the sentiment, it feels like at some point I won’t want to roll for characters (feels like it might happen sooner rather than later) I just rolled JingLiu and she definitely outclasses my Yanqing It almost feels like she is a combo of a hunt and a destruction character And silverwolf definitely pegs down the games difficulty I feel like I only need Loucha and I’m done Kind of worrying cause I also do roll for characters doing different things and being a step up from the first units to come out

Hot Take, but MoC 10 is easier than Abyss floor 12, especially for F2P in Genshin where characters aren't nearly as strong at C0.

It was different for me. I managed to beat Spiral 12 before I ever beat MoC 10. I think I 3 starred MoC 10 before I 3 star Spiral 12 though but it was about the same. Maybe a week difference. One of the reasons was because I had access to Childe International when I started playing the game. Childe was my first limited 5 star character so I had access to the best overall team that has ever existed from the start. Early limited c0 5 stars were not strong but the 4 stars were very powerful. Early Genshin 4 stars are much stronger than the 4 stars in Starrail.

There's only so many Bronyas and Tingyuns to go around, that is one of my motivating factors behind pushing for DoT because thats one niche that will be relatively independent from these two.

My main gripe is you only need a DPS of a certain element just because enemy is weaker to that. Get one Single Target DPS of an element, get one for AoE. And you're done with that element. But you have 6 others to worry about.

My biggest issue is with the path system they introduced in this game, it feels more like flavour text the more characters are coming out instead of a game mechanic. Let's take Hunt for example that was supposed to be your glass cannon burst nukers for a single target. Well, destruction characters for whatever reason do comparable single damage as hunt characters and have AoE and tankiness.(this is for limited characters mostly). Or let's take erudition characters that are supposed to excel in AoE. You guessed it, destruction characters again overshadow by a mile. I don't know about you guys, but Hoyo seems to have a hard on about destruction DPS characters. I'm not even talking about a certain 4 star support character that is basically nihility and buffer at the same time.

I agree, that’s why I got Kafka and want Topaz, they make Nihility and Elation paths OP, and DOT and FUA characters will only continue to come, making them even better. When a new pure follow up attack DPS arrives, something like Clara, it will make Topaz even better.

At this point I just pull based on design/teambuilding/waifu. When I started out I just grabbed every banner and whaled for Silver Wolf E2. (I pulled Seele, JY, SW, Fu Xuan, Jingliu and I will pull upcoming Harmony characters, Kafka rerun, DoT 5*) After that I'll probably wait till March7th gets her 5* version.

Instead of buff buff unga bunga big screenshot dmg, I like it when the flow of the fight is harmonious and can be played in many different ways like you said where fun meets creativity. I picked her because since the game started, i skipped all dps chars in favor of silver wolf and kafka (f2p) as unfortunately i lost all 50:50s. So Jingliu was my first 5* dps and I don‘t regret. Together with Danheng, Qingque, i‘m set.

This is why I'm saving for Kafka + eidolon(s) and her light cone, I have enough DPS. Also I'm building Herta and Himeko. But to be fair, the universe modes are bringing fun to overpowered DPS.

kafka has been the most fun unit in the game for me so far I figured out how to get her to get 3 attacks and 3 ults on cycle 0 and pushing towards achieving that was some of the most fun i had with the game sofar

While I do think that hypercarry comps can still be fun (I quite enjoy buffing Jingliu to the moon and seeing her do huge numbers), I agree 100% that characters with unique playstyles are much more appealing in the long run. I main Kafka for that exact reason, and I love using her in a DoT team even though it's not "meta."

I completely agree with this. It's so much better to have characters that can be paired together to try different stuff. That's the reason i skipped IL. I don't care about his damage. I just don't like his gameplay especially since 99% of the times you just need to press E 3 times to attack and that's it. I don't particularly agree with not liking Seele but that is just because i love when on turn based games some characters can just get another turn for free and i like to see it (especially in simulated universe i like not giving the enemy a single turn while using her).

There comes a point where every elite player must ask themselves, “Is there more to life than Big Damage?” Whenever we hit that wall, a new pathway opens… “I Love This Character!” I have many loves in my life. Seele is a character I’ll love in every universe. In Honkai Impact i have every Seele unit SSS and full gear, I’ve been saving in star rail to E6 her. Why? It’s simple. “Waifu Over Meta.” There is nothing simpler. For other people it’s play style differences, others character uniqueness. But the path I found is I love for the character. I’m glad you’ve found your own.

I agree in 100% I spent only 10$ on my account for 2 supply passes, built 2 teams (Kafka and Jingliu centric) and now I'm just maxing out traces and building god damned Yukong as main dps because there is no point to keep getting better relics for characters I already built

Having Seele is great for all the times I just wanna auto farm, but yeah, experimenting with unusual or "non-meta" comps is a lot of fun when I actually play the game. I'm not a mald-player though, if content is too hard for me to figure out with any comp then I just don't do it.

Growing up playing Pokemon and games like that I have a bad habit of wanting to collect them all even tho I'm free to play so even if I don't want the unit I'm still at least seeing the only difference between me and others in the case of fomo is I don't get mad when I don't get them I just enjoy collecting them so yes I'ma see if I can snag a 5 banner every time they come around kinda not the point of the video but I just wanted to comment this

I’m just pulling for favorites, and if they are cool then they are gonna be fun for me regardless. Same reason I skipped blade and seele, could not really care for them as both characters and kit wise. And unless content requires specific team comps I’ll just use anyone who helps win regardless of how simple or complex is the rotation.

Im honestly kibda glad i never run hyper carry teams. It just feels a but more fun just running whatever unit comps i want. Plus im still clearing all the content just fine. It may not be 1 cycle moc clears but im definitely clearing everything lol.

I think the problem lies with destruction path. You just hyper buff them and they just nuke the field. Hoyo is letting this happen since it is only 1.x version. I wouldn't be surprised if enemies with full reflect or FGO style built-in miss breaks that path later. People will be force to rethink teams. Hunt path would go up in value

A fix to this could be new relics giving already existing DPS characters a new play style, look at blade, you can set him up to do more ult damage or more basic attack damage. What i dislike in a game is one character having only 1 way to be used, it means you slap on a specific set of relics, a good LC then max them and click autoplay.

ps unit for me just to deal with weakness break in moc to clear 30 star to maximize the reward from the game for us, diff unit diff weakness break, right now i used selee(quantum), himeko(fire), Jingliu(ice), kafka(thunder) still not have physical/imaginary. all that dota and league that you bring up that's pvp game dude chill. 0 cycle competition is too sweaty for me.

This is probably why hsr releases more destruction > nehility > erodition and > hunt. Guess hunt is about single target damage and higher turn frequency, this may make it hard to make something different from what we all rdy have.
