I have to say the PH1 is a very good phone. Well built, aside for those who will claim if you drop it, the phone will be toast. Not the case if you have it in a case. I have found battery life to be excellent. I only charge mine to 80% and in over 6mths I have only lost 3% of the battery performance based in accubattery. The camera is good I have no issues with it. I am super happy with it. Screen is sharp, it's snappy fast and I have no reason to buy anything coming out.

Android P is also better on the Pixel. I love the animations and how snappy it has been performing. The Essential phone is definitely worth it. The ceramic back, built feels great in the hand, and I like the grip too. I wouldn't use a case with this phone.

Not sure what he's using, but I personally use J&D anti glare. Look for them on Amazon, they come in 8 pack and are dirt cheap, also very durable considering they're plastic matte. They're not a cheap knockoff, they're cut very precisely and look great on the PH-1, very well worth it

Just purchased the Vivo nex A for 545$ 6GBs ram 128GB and 6.59 FHD display with 4000Mh battery and 22w fast charging. You should give it a try man I really think you will like it. The 845 version was 725$ and comes with a in display finger print sensor. The cheaper version runs super fast as well. The specs are almost identical to the Snapdragon 835

I like this phone and have been thinking of getting rid of my note 8 for it. Android pie has fixed a lot of issues with notches on phones.as soon as I turned gestures on my pixel when I was son the beta I could never go back to the 3 button navigation. I always try to use gestures on my note and other phones I use and it’s hard to go back.

I'm using the Essential and the 5.7" screen is actually way smaller. With the new update most apps aren't using the space beside the notch. The option to over ride apps and make them use the space has been taken away in the update. The space where the home button is always present and it takes away from the screen real estate.. The 5.7" screen is actually way smaller and looks way smaller when compared to a 5.5" screen with off screen buttons. There's unusable space at the top and bottom.

nycbike73 "May still add some updates" that's not a 100%. In the meantime users lost almost 1 inch of useable screen space. Look at my Twitter "JayJits" I have a picture up showing the measurements. Our almost bezel less phone now has huge bezels basically of non useable screen space at the top and bottom. I didn't buy a 5" phone I bought a 5.7" phone. I'm feeling ripped off. Essential had to have known this. In the rush to put out Android P it costs users almost 1 inch of screen space.

Scroll stutter is back and my phone seems slightly slower when trying to quickly switch between apps. Gestures suck. Missing features. Overall wish I stayed with 8.1 but I'll hold onto 9.0 and hopefully they fix it soon. Just not nearly as enjoyable as people say it is. New≠better

Did you do a clean install or did you just update and keep all your settings and everything? If you just updated and didn't wipe the phone, try a clean install and see how that goes. It will most likely solve at least a few of the performance issues you may face, if not all of them.

Just FYI, I contacted Essential to ask about authorized battery replacement center recommendations. That's because I heard parts aren't readily available and the screen will be destroyed while opening. This is the response I got: ____ Hello, Thank you for reaching out! The battery is not replaceable in itself due to the way the phone is designed, so if there is a confirmed defect with it a device replacement would be required to solve your issue.

Dude, the speaker is more than fine. It's plenty loud and has very good, rich sound and decent separation for a single speaker. You can also toggle it to mono in settings if U wish. Stereo speakers would've been nice (FF esp), but for the device's price, the single unit is def adequate. BTW, if you're not already aware, the headphone dongle is DAC-enabled, so plug in with some nice headphones, and THERE'S your true stereo sound ! 😈
