Man I love you for not downing LG! I traded my G7 ThinQ in for a OP7 t pro McLaren edition at T Mobile. Both McLaren editions had issues right out of the box! I went back to T Mobile and got the LG G8 and never looked back and do not regret it 👍

Calling quality is superior on the g8 because if its Oled crystal sound. The vibration of the screen to produce sound. The screen also looks amazing. Espeically dolby vision and hdr.

I was looking forward to this review. It is as I thought it would be. The iPhone has what seems to be better video capabilities and audio...and for what I am looking to do with making 4K videos for KZbin, etc that sounds like the way BUT, and that is a big BUT, because in the end price trumps (budget) although locally my T-Mobile store told me LG raised the price to $750 for the G8. Sort of miffed about that but perhaps that means He has another phone/set up He wants me looking at. Patience was something I stopped praying for after my son became a teen and try to go with the flow. The G8 in that T-Mobile red though sure is beautiful - and add that one case you displayed in one of your videos and the two together were very much gorgeous. Hope it is sooner than later as the K10 has started to give a black screen from time to time. Another spot on video. I appreciate you taking the time to make these. Thank you.

I must disagree with you on audio. I think the lg g8 is better. Yes the recording of the wind is very agressive but your voice is much louder and clearer on lg g8 and that is why lg gives you options in the video if you don't want to hear the wind. iPhone is always stellar when it comes on to video capabilities, it is the best video recording smartphone on the market.

I like Android my last LG device was the G7; as of now, rocking with ZTE. Unfortunately, if you want the best smartwatch, you need an iPhone, no questions asked. Furthermore, the most two commonly used apps, iMessage and FaceTime, require it, specially if you have children. Teens in the real world don't want anything to do with Android. Social media is way better in an iOS devices

Does the LG G8 have the resonance chamber audio like the G7? iPhone looks good for video. LG offers more manual controls for video. I think the LG phone is more for those who like to tinker. But the price of the G8 is more compelling, actually last years G7 even more so.

Yea. Financially, LG Mobile is a huge drag on LG as a company. It’s the only division that loses money. The Chinese phones have probably been the biggest driver for their failing. Just pull up their financials from quarter to quarter, doesn’t look good.

@@godsangell12 iPhone 11 lcd and the XR lcd are not hdr compliant screens. Most oled flagship phones are hdr compliant to view the high dynamic range properly. The iPhone 11 and XR would have very faded washed out look when watching hdr videos. You need to compare the pro models or the xs models because those have hdr compliant screens. It wasn't a fair test

I got a black LG G8 thinq coming from a "leather" LG G4, the G8 is extremely slippery, damn phone slides off all surfaces, I was forced to buy a case for it (spigen) which I've never reduced myself to do in the past 22 years of owning cell phones. Because I am using a case my pinky finger has become tender as the cutout of the usb c port is very uncomfortable (240lbs powerlifter with major blisters so no I am not soft). G8s screen is very narrow, making using apps like Instagram show smaller pictures and videos (compared to the G4) which definitely annoying. The camera is nothing special as pictures look very pixelated when you zoom in (in the gallery or on digital zoom while taking pics). Lg g8 also got rid of the notification light on the front facing camera which was extremely convenient as I could see what app I have messages in by the colour of the led but now I get a 3 second screen flash which is useless if I am away from my phone for 5 seconds.

srb2006 - wow, that sounds so unlike the G8 I have seen performance wise from some of the reviewers I trust. J has several videos on using the phone as well as @Eazy Computer Solutions who I think I found through J somehow. The both of them turned me on to the LG G series phones, the more recent ones. What you have commented just sounded so off from what I have seen that I hope you do not mind my recommending a possible way to get around that. Best to you.

I didn't get a chance to try/hold the phone before I bought it from my carrier Rogers here in Canada as the display model (fake phone) was stolen from the rival store I went to to check out what was available. I don't know if his red one is less slippery than the black model but the phone is like holding a wet bar of soap lol. Coming from the curved "leather" LG G4 to a flat glass G8 was a big shock but I've held other glass back phones and the G8 is definitely extremely slippery. I've only dropped my past phones of 22 years roughly a total of 6 (six) times as I am extremely careful and this is the first completely flat phone so less buttons/camera to grab onto. The spigen case is not bulky and other than the usb c opening, I like it and recommend it... My sights were set on the Huawei p30 pro which would have been more expensive but it's awful PPI and fear of further USA/google punishment scared me off as my G4 was stuck on Android 6.0 which was frustrating as people with newer phones would use emojis I couldn't see but instead would see a box with an x through it. The lacking notification light settings is frustrating as I have to check the phone physically more often ( I refuse to use the always on display as I have bad fears of the battery being like the crappy G4 battery), but I am sure there will be an update in Android 10 or an app that will make use of the giant notch.

I've got a black G8 thinq and bought an Otterbox Defender series case for it, it's the best, has little flap covers to protect your charging cord and audio plug inputs from shit. Otterbox has a inner soft squishy inner shell to protect the phone and a hard outer shell for full protection. Of course put the screen protector on before the Otterbox

The blue shift was just a problem with the v30. There isn't a blue shift problem on v50 or g8

There's no blue color shift issue on the LG G8 or V50! Top notch screens! Also the power button and finger print reader are no longer combined, the finger print reader is on the back (the round circle), and there's now a dedicated power button on the right side of the phone... times have changed and so has LG.

@Kenneth Singer - I am going to say most likely not as I have used LG for several years now - most likely started using them after the bootlooping issue - and never had that sort of a problem. The LG I am currently using was one of their budget phones that was more of an emergency purchase than how I usually research and even it has been great until this year - no bootloop but just very small ROM/RAM, etc and time to move to another phone. Hope that helps from someone else who has used LG. This 8, and the 7 also, seem to be spot on as far as phones go, not to mention the red is gorgeous.

@@kennethsinger561 The V20 was the last one to have been reported to have rare cases of boot looping. The looping was due to a hardware issue not a software one. So the V30, V40, V50, G6, G7, G8 and any variants of those have never been reported to have this problem. The hardware issue that caused the phones like the V10 or G4 to boot loop was due to an over heating issue. The design has been fixed since 2016.

Samsung knew the issue and used exinos on all they'r galaxy 6 series no matter the market. That's when the hegemony of Samsung begun. And the fall of HTC, Sony and LG.
