I do not think that is fair. If you are some simple reactor that just plays music and say you like it, sure. But you do so much more to add value and also support the artists. Silly to demonetise you. Shows bad judgement.

@@rolandkarlsson7072thank you. I have given up trying to dispute copyright claims (even though I’ve been led to believe that, legally, what I often do falls under educational and fair use). Every claim I’ve disputed on these grounds has always been rejected, with no reason given. And the disputed claims are judged by the people that claim them in the first place, so I fail to see how that’s an impartial ruling. I have been told that there are other channels that do similar content to mine who have managed to monetise their videos via disputing these claims. Thus far it continues to elude me. Therefore I must rely on patrons and donations for my time and effort instead. Thank you for your comment.

The Warning literally has a whole thread devoted to KZbin reactions on their own patreon. So they are more sympathetic than most. They are a gen Z band after all, so they understand the importance of social media. But maybe their record company are the ones claiming.

That's bizarre as so many people have been able to share this concert in full or in part. They had just signed a record deal (IIRC) with Lava before this but they've always been super generous with allowing fans to use their content in the past and I felt certain this was likewise protected 'from being protected'. Anyways, great great reaction and analysis.

(not to say JW missed it) It amuses me how many reactors will say "She sings so well while playing" and "That was a great drum fill" but somehow that massive fill while singing has yet to be pointed out singularly; This isn't to say that people don't notice, but nobody has been explicit about it. If Pau had 2 more arms and 2 more legs she could play 8 instruments.

@@Biomirth True. But to be honest, it took me a couple of times to notice and appreciate it fully as well. First couple of times I was just loving the song as a whole, and how it punches you in the face. Not to mention focusing on the video or stage performance as well. It's a lot to take in. I feel that really good songs or performances make you discover more details the more you listen. And since drummer lead singers is so rare, maybe it could take even pros a while to really register what the heck that is actually happening. For an amateur like me, even more so.

The Warning Army isn't ominous lol, you've already experienced the Nightwish Army, same concept. Welcome in. Daniela (Dany) on Guitar is 24 today, Paulina (Pau pronounced Pow) is now 22, and Alejandra (Ale) is 19. Dany sings lead on most songs, Pau sings lead on some. Ale will sing lead if needed, when Dany is sick or needs a break, but no designated lead vocal songs, she prefers the backing vocals. Love this song as an intro because you get all 3 with lead parts (the 2 3 Go is Ale's line). They have opened for Foo Fighters, Def Leppard, Guns'N'Roses, Halestorm, 3 Days Grace and one of their favorite bands, Muse. Lzzy Hale was so impressed when she first heard them, that she insisted on getting The Warning on tour with them. This Teatro concert was in August, after having toured all summer with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless. The PRS( custom 24-08) is her baby, but has been gifted guitars, an Explorer from Lzzy Hale, and a Manson from Muse's Matt Bellamy. If you're interested in their equipment, all 3 sisters have done gear masters episodes, posted on 'digital tour bus'. They do use backing tracks, and run the show on the laptop with Ableton. Those are also mentioned in Pau's episode. Dany and Ale talk a little about tunings as well. Their straight cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman, at ages 14 12 and 9, was posted for family and friends, and went viral. Metallica saw it, Kirk said that the drummer kicks maximum a$$. September 2023 they gave up 1 of 2 dates opening for G'N'R, to play at the mtv music awards. Check out those videos, "Evolve" and "More". And again, hope you had a Happy Birthday, and congrats on the new house.

The only thing I can add (and I think the story is) that Alessia Cara (a Canadian pop singer) was asked by Metallica to cover Enter Sandman for the Blacklist album. Alessia wasn't fully comfortable covering a metal song on her own and asked The Warning to do it with her. They arranged and recorded it in a week. They still play Enter Sandman at their own shows and if you'd like to see how they do it now, you should watch the version from the same show as Disciple.
@RipThru
@RipThru 6 ай бұрын
@@reaper_fbb7052 Reaper is right. And it would be great if you analyzed how they did their rendition. It is definitely Enter Sandman and yet, so different at the same time. From what I have heard and believe, they opened it up to create space for Alessia Cara’s vocals, moved things around but retained the chord structures and made it more haunting and powerful at the same time. Certainly one of the best remakes (not really even a cover) of a song I’ve heard in a very long time.

I think you may be right about Dany using that lower 5th, because the PRS she's playing is in E standard tuning, per her DTB gear rundown video. She does use drop D for some songs, but the lion's share of their music is in E standard. Aside from their musical prowess, they also have spines of steel when it comes to their artistic integrity. They were approached at a very young age by the likes of Disney, who thought they were dumb kids who could be strong armed into questionable contracts and then dressed up in a corporate-tailored image. One smug scout asked them if they'd rather play in front of 12 people, or 12,000, to which Pau (Paulina) replied that they would rather play the music they love in front of 12 people than play music they hate in front of 12,000. They did eventually sign with Lava Records, but only after months of negotiations that resulted in a contract allowing them to maintain creative control. That commitment to being true to themselves and their artistry resonates with their fans, and it'll be a key ingredient to keeping them relevant far into the future.
@sebrinalilje8057
@sebrinalilje8057 6 ай бұрын
Adding to the DTB bit, she also uses an octave pedal to fill out their sound. I've also noticed that when she's soloing and Ale is mimicking the rhythm, Pau uses her floor toms quite often to fill in the low end. Not all the time, but often enough that it stands out as a bit of that sophistication he mentioned in their writing. It's a big part of why they don't sound like a typical trio.

Their manager, Rudy Joffroy, once observed that in the real world they're just typical sisters who pick on each other mercilessly. But when they step on stage in front of an audience, they instantly transform into consummate professional musicians. That was the reason he accepted the job as their manager.

Been a while since I have seen any of your videos. First came across your channel (perhaps an older one?) with your discovery of Nightwish. Welcome to The Warning. Three sisters from Monterey Mexico who started playing together when they were children and who have now been making great hard music for more than a decade. With three studio albums, several live concert videos, and a new album on the way, we think there is plenty of material for you to choose from. This three-piece is: Daniela (Dany, 24yo, guitar) Paulina (Pau, as in POW-er, 22yo, drums) Alejandra (Ale, pronounced AH-lay, 19yo, bass) All three sisters sing and all are classically trained on piano. As you can see, live is their magic sauce. They put out hella noise for only three people. The Warning have a sound that is both new and familiar. It is certainly hard rock, but clearly influenced by their love of classic rock, metal, punk, K-pop, indie, grunge, funk, and many other genres including classical music. But they have taken those influences and forged a sound that is uniquely their own, and you know that it is them. At the same time simple and complex. What does it sound like to me? Refreshing. A sound that has caught my ear and made me interested in rock again after 25+ years of the same old playlist. While together their combined ages are about the same as mine, their musical maturity is exceptionally high. Need another suggestion? From The Warning’s KZbin page you might choose from: - MORE or EVOLVE from the MTV VMAs - CHOKE, ANIMOSITY, 23, or any other song from this 2022 show at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX (aka Mexico City) - The official music video for XXI CENTURY BLOOD - SURVIVE from their 2017 TedX talk - The official music video for their new release S!CK There are really no bad choices. They are something special live. Their energy, charisma, and musicality really shine when in front of an audience. In the past two years I have flown all over North America and seen them 7 times. Can’t wait for the chance to travel and see them again. The only other band I have traveled like this for in more than 40 years of concert going was Rush.

Clips of them at Berkeley School of Music in 2015. In which Ale and Pau had to get exceptions to attend due to their young age. Which they shot audition videos at a school concert. Their 2016 and 2017 TEDx performances at the University of Neveda, Other videos of them performing material from their first full album XXI Century Blood (2017) and their second album Queen of the Murder Scene. Glad to see you got around to The Warning. I have always enjoyed your break downs of songs, even though I am not much of a musician myself I appreciate the demosntrations and analysis of how the songs come together. Not as intricate as a lot of band you react to, but they are great at what they do and add exactly what they need to the song. Not many solo's, as you pointed out a lot of the intricacy is in the vocal melodies and harmonies and the bands super power is really in the vocals and harmony (familial voices have that unique way of blending). But they are all very competent on their instruments and all trained in classical piano. Pau (the drummer) comes up with the basic chords and melodies for most of the songs on the piano. They each have a quick gear run down on the 'Digital Tour Bus' channel. The videos are fairly short, but they give you a feel for the bands professionalism and each sisters individual personality. Excellent breakdown! First time I've seen a reactor figure out the guitar parts on the spot for this song. Great technical explanation of what's going on musically, and going over their chord and note choices. I know Dany uses a harmonizer and octave pedal on her Kemper profiler, but not sure exactly what she uses on this song. So she could be playing some octaves, or the pedalboard is doing it. I see @concept226 has already provided the link to her gear breakdown if that interests you.

I noticed the exorcist movie poster on your wall, I love horror movies too, You will love THE WARNING'S Concept album called (QUEEN OF THE MURDER SCENE) This masterpiece tells a dark story about a Girl that is obsessed with a guy that knows nothing of her, the story goes with the songs of the album like THE ONE, STOCKER AND RED HANDS NEVER FADE. At the same time She is fighting for her insanity as a dark entity tries to take over her mind and body. Enjoy. A good song to start with is the intro song to the album. (DUST TO DUST) PAU the drummer takes lead vocals as she kills the drums.

TWA is a huge fanbase. From kids to vintage rockers like yours truly, fascinated by the sound, the instrumental prowess, the energy and the flooring compositional creativity of the band. You have a great journey ahead of you, from their early 2 independent LP's with amazing songs like "Black Holes" or "When I'm Alone" or the concept story of the Murder Queen, to their latest album produced by Bendeth and the one we're waiting for in the following weeks. It's rock, man. The rock sound of today.

This song is about how social media controls us with fabricated info. Pau, the drummer, got inspired about the main riff in a Canadian supermarket in 2019. She came home, composed the 1st draft on her piano including the bass intro and called her sisters. They were 19, 17 & 14 then. That is why Dany, guitarist, starts the song as an antagonist with "The sun is YOUR enemy today" while Pau picks it up as a disciple in the 2nd verse with "The sun is MY enemy today". The sisters trade off lead vocals as demanded by the script. You can make out the difference in their vocal textures. Ale, the bassist, mainly harmonizes in the lower frequencies with infrequent falsettos as required by the song. The Warning are masters in composing in minor scales. Quite often they introduce a full sequence of major chords for the same verse to break the monotony. And that downward bend in vocals here is typically The Warning. Every song from The Warning needs to be reviewed with the lyrics, innate message & back story, if available. Because they are the most intellectual band to emerge in decades. Their profound metaphorical songwriting on contemporary society sets them apart from the crowd. You can always read what the band says about their songs during your reviews. Their ages at the time of composing a song & playing it in public should be noted too in reviews. Among their 3 full albums & 2 EPs the girls have published a concept album in 2018 called Queen of the Murder Scene where they have mused over unrequited love, death, self harm, suicide & lunacy. Pau was in middle school going through her emo phase when she tabled the 1st draft in front of her sisters. Just to keep it in context, five decades back Roger Waters dealt with death, lunacy & depression in The Dark Side of the Moon. Dive into their rabbit hole that stretches back more than a decade to when they were playing classical piano as 6-8 year olds. Its all on YT. They have practically grown up on social media. After watching your reaction I am confident that you won't be disappointed.

Enjoyed your reaction, but really enjoyed your analysis of the song. The Warning is one of my favorite rock bands at the moment, and an absolute "breath of fresh air" in the genre. All three of them are obviously talented musicians, but what really makes them special is their vocals (especially their vocal harmonies) and their top-tier songwriting. It was really interesting to me hearing you point out all the really smart songwriting choices they made throughout this song.

They do use Ableton for backing tracks. Dany also runs through a Kemper and sometimes uses a harmonizer and/or octaver to get a thicker sound. She also uses the Kemper to detune on some tracks, as her main PRS seen here is in standard tuning (although she does have a couple other guitars she uses live that may have different tunings). All three of them have a Gear Masters video going through their current equipment setup, if you're interested. BTW, love your detailed analysis in your videos. Also, I spy your Kemper behind you. :)

Good analysis. I subscribe to your channel. The music that the Villarreal sisters make is not really complex, but it is very well done. It is attractive, catchy music and is extremely well presented on stage. The 3 sisters have a good musical education (all 3 play the piano) and are much more than capable on their instruments, although they do not seek to show off their skills, which are put at the service of what the song requires. In my opinion, in addition to the above, artistically the band stands out for: - Their voices. Having 3 good singers in a trio is not common at all (the drummer can sing very well while she plays the drums, even as a lead singer) and their ability to do harmonies and repetitions surpasses most bands. - Their ability to consistently generate attractive, quality music. They have around 50 songs and I couldn't say that one of them is bad.

*Disciple* *Disciple* is one of their songs about social media and how it affects people in ways they don't even know... Dany (guitar) sings the part of the "leader"... Pau (drums) sings the part of a "follower", "disciple", or maybe "soldier"... basically they're speaking about how people take what they see on social media and believe it, whatever it is... in this way, certain groups out there control the narrative and what is happening... i believe this is a cynical song telling people to think for themselves and not believe everything they see or hear... the OMV for *Disciple* was shot during the pandemic, all the extras in the video are IRL The Warning Army members... the wearing of the various masks works for the video as well as acknowledging the pandemic being a thing at the time of recording the video... there is the dichotomy of the masks, themselves... the "disciples/soldiers" wearing just cloth mouth and nose masks while the higher ranked overseers are wearing full face filter masks... and then we have DPA/TW playing the upper echelon, the untouchables, with no masks at all... this ranked depiction of status makes a huge statement about social media in addition to what is already being said in the song... *XXI Century Blood* , *Z* , and *Kool-Aid Kids* are three other original DPA/TW songs that also speak about social media... the 1st one, XXICB, has an OMV that tells a story... it and the director were nominated for (and won?) several awards when it was released in 2017 when Dany was 17, Pau was 15, and Ale was 12 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

Very in depth on the song elements. I enjoyed your analysis. In my little musical journey i have liked many, loved fewer, but been gobsmacked seldom. The first chords of Tom Sawyer is one. Seeing GaGa do Bad Romance live (Grammys?), another. Maybe a few others. Been a while for sure. But Disciple, this performance, is one. And, this is for me the quintessential Disciple, with all the good moments, that most others don't include, particularly in the breakdown and audience inclusion. Here, Dany's guitar work really shines as she lashes the crowd before "hear my calling". Hope you are not too sophisticated to join The Warning Army!

One new single was just released - there's another song coming this Friday (8th March) and a new album to follow shortly. The bass (as you mentioned it) Alejandra uses is a Custom 5 string Spector NS-5XL with EMG 40DCX pickups that was made especially for her to her specifications. You could buy a replica of it as part of the Spector signature series (but without the band logo in the 3rd fret and only a 4 string), but availability was limited I believe. Daniella (guitarist) is a PRS artist and plays that guitar a lot, but she also uses a Gibson (Explorer body) that was given her by Lizy Hale of Halestorm that she had made for Dany. She also has a Yellow Manson guitar that Matt Bellamy (of Muse) had made for her … the only one of that colour in existence. This was because Matt asked Dany her her favourite colour was (Muse are an influence and idols of the band). Dany panicked and just said "yellow"!!! She uses that Manson live now for a coupe of songs. Dany uses an octaver live to split the sound which is then split to left and right 'fill out' the guitar sound. The bass is also more prominent in most of their tracks compared to most live mixes (of 4/5 piece bands). Hope that helps with some of their gear. TWA⚡UK
