Very imaginative and cleverly produced idents. Very catchy jingles too. Absolutely baffling that they weren’t actually broadcast in the end.

These are great and fit the era very well. I do wonder if there was some kind of power struggle going on between executives that meant these were scrapped.

0:14 Someone was able to find footage of the hearts in that square, below the logo, they were kind of like the break bumpers but without the logo. I can't find it anymore though, May have been taken down.

Impressive as they are. I wonder if the plan was to have the "ITV" Branded Idents for Networked/National Programmes (thus ditching the regional names for the most part) and only have the "Regional" Branded Idents (with the Regional Broadcaster Names) for Regional News/Programming?

Those rotating heart symbols were used by Carlton, in their 1999 "Hearts" ident package.

They were leaked (not sure by who) and circulated pretty widely probably about ten years ago. A lot more have surfaced since then, there's a big batch of them on TVBits' channel.

Actually it is 1999. The previous idents finished in 1998 as one or two regions,one up here in Scotland included,were still using the 1989-1998 idents until they got replaced in 1999

@@markc8956 I think what they mean is that work started on the hearts rebrand in 1998 (but due to constant revisions it took until late 1999 for the rebrand to happen, I think all in all there were about 4 versions created)
