The 2000 seat Silver Spring Fillmore had GA tickets at face value the last I checked, although the VIP was sold out the first day they went on sale 7 months ago. Band Maid is my absolute favorite of the Japanese girl bands. They are all really talented musicians and I especially like their bass player (Misa). She is certainly one of the best bassists of the young generation. She plays bass solos on a few of their songs which are really great. And the best thing is that they make their own songs. To be fair the japanese explosion of great female metal bands started with Scandal, then Aldious took the baton and ran with it, these along with Ningen Isu, Babymetal and others laid a very fertile ground for Band maid to flower into. I love these girls with every cell in my body but they are the end result of a great deal of hard work by other bands.

Nice reaction to the best hard rock band on the planet IMO. I just saw their concert in Phoenix which was incredible. They have so many awesome songs you should check out next and a few of my favs are Blooming, non-fiction days, Dice, Play, Manners, Choose Me, Warning and literally any song you find on KZbin. I was graced with Band Maid literally 2 weeks ago and I’ve been infatuated with them since. I’m not a musician and I’m not even particularly a rock fan but, I love the sound of live instruments in music and the passion rock brings. I’ve watched a lot of “first time” reaction videos of Band Maid and so far, more often than not, they are severely underestimated for their ethnicity, their native language, gender and their band concept, mostly by balding, beer-bellied old men. The representation of Asian women in this genre and seeing these 5 adorable and painfully talented musicians prove themselves as just _better_ is a satisfying feeling!! I’m still taking my time with their *huge* discography of music but, so far their instrumentals and their songs No God and Different have been my favorites! Their bassist, Misa, and their drummer, Akane, have caught my attention the most so far but, Kanami (LG), Miku (RG) and Saiki (LV) are amazing in their own rights as well!

They never are anything but wonderful. Live or recording they are just the Band that saved Rock and music for me.

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

@@tomj8527 Yeah, I found out about Plastic Love two years ago and that sent me on a tiny journey to find some other city pop tracks. There's some chill bangers out there. I think part of the reason they have so many talented musicians is that in highschool you have to take up either sports or music every year, so a lot of people get into music. Part of me doesn't like the idea of forcing kids to do something, but I have certainly been highly impressed with the results.

Hi. I saw some of those tours in the UK, but I started with the Rolling Stones in 1964- Grand Funk Railroad 1971 (Mel was a pre Misa on bass), Deep Purple 1972 and my first all female US band Fanny 1972. Other bands had female lead guitarists- Char Vinnedge of Billy Cox Nitrofunction and April Lawton of Ramatam, both in 1972 from the US.

The best band this (albeit short) century. This is like their 25th to 30th best song IMHO. Many of their best tracks aren't even on their channel anymore. For live videos, I'd suggest Play and Onset off their channel (their newer live videos are without an audience due to COVID). For music videos, Warning, Blooming, Rinne and Non-Fiction Days.

Saiki is like a dominatrix, she demands that the crowd respond to her commands. Saiki and MISA are the ones dressed in Gothic. Actually when the group began they all wore similar outfits, then as time went on Saiki and MISA turned Gothic on us. Most often MISA and Kanami are doing their solos at the same time. My discovery of Band-Maid started me on a deep dive into Japanese rock/metal. I am sure that you have gotten plenty of suggestions for your next Band-Maid songs and, with Band-Maid, there are no bad suggestions. Prior to Band-Maid I had only listened to a band called Maximum the Hormone (great band) and I had heard of Baby Metal. After listening to many Japanese bands, I have a clear top five which are, in order of discovery, Band-Maid, Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheus, Nemophila and Asterism. A young band that would be my 6th is Hanabie. I should also mention the Wagakki Band who are extraordinary live. If you are an Amy Lee fan, there are at least a couple of videos of her performing with the Wagakki Band. You have listened to Nemophila but need to revisit them. I suggest their mv for the song Adabana. You also need to discover Lovebites with their live performance of Set The World On Fire. The link is below. Thanks for the reaction! Band-Maid hits that sweet spot between catchy hard rock and engaging instrumental & vocal lines, and there just really aren't many bands out there that can do that as consistently as they do. In fact, they are so consistent and their catalog is so deep that it's hard to know what to recommend. But a few: maybe Warning or Rinne for songs on the heavier side; Daydreaming or Endless Story for ballads; Unleash!!!!! or Influencer for more recent releases.

I have been blown away at the level of skill and talent when it comes to all female bands in Rock and Metal music in Japan. When the terms Rock and Metal and female are synonymous when talking about the Japanese music scene, this an evolution. That a band like Band-Maid could make such a splash and get devoted fans in America and globally is incredible. So many talented and skilled women who could play Rock and Metal on the level of B/M in the US. Is there even one that can get a break and make an impact on the level of Band-Maid? I'm hoping so.

From Japan Thank you for BAND-MAID's reaction. They are currently on a 14-venue US tour. They have just completed 5 venues. They play 18 songs for 2 hours, each time with a new setlist. It's a present for the fans who follow them. Also, it shows their great plethora of songs and playing ability. With a European tour probably next year, they are the band to watch now.

The girls are currently on a performance tour of the USA. Starting with a performance in Seattle on 12 October, they are scheduled to perform 13 times in California, Arizona, Texas, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, New Jersey, Chicago, etc., and seven performances have already taken place. (as of 22 October). Tickets for most of the concerts in the USA are already sold out, but there are still tickets available for the 30 October show in New Jersey, which uses a 4000-seat hall.

While Band-Maid is on the top of list for me, Japan has more female bands than any other by far. Please do more Band-Maid of course (Dice, Play, Different). But there's also Trident, BRATS, Shisamo, Lovebites and more. Also great female fronted bands, Polkadot Stingray, Glim Spanky.

Band Maid covers many genres. There are many excellent all female bands coming out of Japan. Band Maid is my personal favorite but if you haven't seen them watch Holy War live by Lovebites. Power metal and you will be stunned.

Dear Jynger! Greetings from Shizuoka City right under the benign care of Mount Fuji! You have opened a portal into a Dragon Labyrinth Hoard you will never be able or willing to close again! Great reaction from the guts! Although a hard core male in his 70's I will always support all-female and partly female rock/metal and what else bands for the simple reason they bring something new and refreshing and even better to an art that males gave up defending. I have lived in Japan for 46 years and know too well the hidden power of Japanese women (I actually entertain a healthy of women in general, but cannot live without the! LOL)! You will notice that Band Maid followers are fiercely loving of their favourite band and are called Maidiacs, including quite a few other celebrated reactors presently following them along their US Tour. Quite a few bands have been “discovered” from Japan: Nemophila, Bridear, Li-sa-X band, Lovebites, the list goes on. The fact they sing in Japanese doesn’t matter because of the high level of musicianship. Plus they smile while having fun, not scowling and growling.

Too many western bands are hung up on their “image” trying to fit the music to the look, while these ladies may change genres in the middle of the song and make it sound great.

Band-Maid was the band that made me interested in Japanese bands and led me to one of my favorites: Lovebites. My favorite songs are Blooming, Dice, and Yolo. Even though Band-Maid is a very good rock band, if there was a fire in my house and I had to save one album, it would be "Crucified Barbara - Til Death Do Us Party". One of the best (imo THE best) hard rock albums. Sadly the ladies quit the band 2016.
