I think a large portion of their fan base are musicians, including me. I think they are the most phenomenal band to come out in years. It's not only their excellent musicianship, but their always on point musicality and the melodic contributions by every member to each song. The leads, the bass lines, background vocals and lead vocals and the incredible drumming and even the ones early in their career that they didn't write were incredible. There is nobody else that sounds like them. I was bored as hell with rock until they came along. They are little beasts.

I was the same way. I haven't heard a good new American rock/metal band in 20 years. I had checked out. It wasn't Band Maid it was another group that starts with a B. But now I'm getting a little bored of them and I have room in my heart for a new band and Band Maid is it. I'm the kind of person who can only be obsessed by one thing at a time and if I'm not obsessed I'm apathetic. Band Maid is so much better than I thought they were from casually listening to Thrill. I have tickets to the Seattle show.

I had just run across the girls a couple days prior, watched every last official video on their channel multiple times, made my first iTunes purchase EVER (and first money spent on new music in DECADES) when I called up a friend of mine who had played guitar professionally in Japan back in the 90s. "Dude, I just found THE MOST AMAZING Japanese band! and they're all girls! and all dressed up li...." "Oh, you found Band-Maid, here, let me send you a link" ONSET. I swore I had no idea it could get any more amazing than what I had already listened to.

It never gets old watching people lose their minds over this band....they are so special...check out 'Choose Me'....'Alone'.....'Real Existence'....'Daydreaming'.....or really anything by these Ladies....whenever possible go for the live version..they absolutely own the stage!!!! Times Tank tried to pause the vid but couldn't because they were still going at it? Twice! first at 6:19 and the second at 6:26 xd. But yes, they are insane live. And I love how they play with both the crowd aswell as their band members. It was a total.. Domination! Also I will keep recommending their song Blooming, though not the live version if possible because the studio version is both visually and audibly (not sure if spelled correctly) gorgeous. In the end its your own choice ofcourse and both studio and live are amazing! Also regarding you stopping the vids and talking about the systems, setups, equipment... IS REALLY COOL! Other reaction vids will never talk about it and its actually really fun getting to know all these tidbits of information! I also would love to someday hear you explain exactly what your job entails. i totally agree to these 2 suggestions. "Freedom" from the same show as this one here and "Onset" from April 13, 2018. i think you are going to love these... these girls are crazy in the most positive way. from their live performances u can tell that they are having fun together, love what they do and are sooo f*ing good at doing it. a little background-story: the band was founded by 'Miku' who plays the rhythm-guitar. she also is responsible for the maid-costumes because she worked at a maid-cafe back then. 'Kanami' kills it with the leadguitar, 'Akane' is an absolute beast on the Drums, 'Misa' is the queen of bass-guitars and 'Saiki' with her great voice (imo) on the mic.

When they Gather around Akane, the drummer they're doing something they call "pulling faces" trying to make her lose concentration and mess up, never works, if you watch "Freedom" you'll see Kaname staring at Miku during her vocal and Akane making "kissy faces" at them when they fail once again

There used to be a lot more live videos out there until there was a purge of unofficial uploads a couple of months back. Live versions are usually recommended. You get more feeling, but they also often add extra intros, solos, and other bits to their live songs. There's nothing wrong with any of the MVs though, so don't worry about using them. Unusually for live bands, they change the setlist for almost every show. A next suggestion...Blooming (MV)

The official videos are all performance vids and top notch produced, except thrill which was a bit simple. There was a mv around for onset, but I can't find it anymore. They recorded dice, onset and domination in front of a white background and cut each member out to upload a solo instrumental version. If u wanna watch a certain bandmember only. Two weeks ago I saw them in Detroit at a small venue, crowd of about 700-800 people, small stage - no room for a drum riser , and the vocalist and guitarist almost ran into each other several times, But OMG did they put on a great show. 'Domination' is the first song on their set list. This band has so much depth that they can start with a piece like 'Domination' and sustain the energy over a two hour show. A Great Band!

The sound on this song is barely acceptable for a BAND-MAID LIVE video. They recorded it with Room Mic's to pick up the audience. Consequently there's way too much room ambiance, wich maikes the sound a little unfocused, especially on MISA's Bass solo. You need to watch something from the Sound Coast or Zepp Tokyo LIVE concerts. Both of those used Direct-From-The-Board sound, and are much clearer that this. But this version of 'Domination' is a much better performance.

While not as popular as Band Maid, I would highly recommend checking out Ningen Isu. 20+ albums over a 30+ year career. These guys are the pure definition of consistently good metal. While Heartless Scat is their breakout video, their live shows are pretty awesome.

Everyone has pretty much given their recommendation of Band Maid songs and anyone of those are pretty good. But if you wanna see the girls during their rookie days, then you might wanna check out "Thrill", this was their first music video released on KZbin and the first one that introduced me to the band when I first saw it 6 years ago. You could already see their potential in that video. The song was written for them by their label and they were still finding their own voice. Miku the rhythm guitarist was just learning to play the guitar then, but the drummer, bassist and lead guitars were already solid even back then.

I saw their MV for "Thrill" first. I was intrigued. Then I saw "Play" live. I was excited. Then I saw "Domination" live and was blown away like you. I now own their Domination CD and their World Domination Tour DVD and am addicted. I agree with "Onset" and "Freedom" live, as well as "Thrill" (their first), "Rinne" and "Blooming" MV's for future enjoyment. Freedom is good if you wanna hear the drummer go off. Wonderland is my favorite songs of theirs, but it's a bit more on the alt side (less heavy). Whatever you do, watch it live, you won't regret it.

Band Maid is awesome! Only discovered them last summer. Was lucky enough to catch them in NYC last year. Their music videos are good but they really shine on their live concert videos. What stinks is that most of the live Zepp show videos were pulled off YT recently, and those were really good. Anyway try their song "Freedom". Dice was an interesting one to start with man.. Many have begun their descent into the Band Maid rabbit hole with early song "Thrill", but you dived in with a track which was about three albums into their catalogue.. this one is the title track from the same album. You've opened a real can of worms with these ladies, and if you're mortal you too will be drawn into a delightful relationship with them. They are sensational live.. There are I think three live shows out on DVD, the last one is their first stand alone release, the previous two gigs being 2nd discs, one attached to a single release and the other to a double disc edition of the Domination album. This is from the latest stand alone release. Oh and they have done some anime - they did "Carry On Living" for the anime Kuizu Tokiko-san Recommendations? ANYTHING.. really. They're that good. A valid path might be "Choose Me", "Real Existence", "Moratorium".. make sure you take in "Matchless Gum".. it's a hidden gem, in that it never appeared on an album, only on the "Yolo" single, along with another "Unfair Game", two criminally underserved tracks.

@@TankTheTech - You should check out Babymetal. I'm sure you'll be getting recommendations for it. For whatever reason youtube thinks they're the same. Babymetal is very different from Band Maid. Any song but Gimme Chocolate. I'd recommend Megitsune music video, Headbanger live at legend of 1997 or Akatsuki live at Budokan 'Black Night'. They're not an all girl band except by a technicality. Their backing band is all men but they are considered separate. They're more a girl-fronted heavy metal group. They're as young as 12 in some of the videos but they're in their early 20's now. They are so unique that they got to brand their own genre of music. They went with 'Kawaii-Metal' which means cute metal. They do a pop-metal fusion most of the time but they also do a lot of other genres in their blender.

Glad to see someone else seeing and appreciating the gift that these five ladies are. As so many below have said, I haven't been this impressed by a band in many many years, if ever. They are indeed my favorite band ever. I really appreciate your comment about not caring about the production, and if it was just them in a room they would still be great. I can tell you firsthand- THEY ARE! I flew down to Dallas last fall to see them. Just them on a tiny stage with their instruments, and about 300 mezmerized fans taking it all in. They are every bit as good without all the production as you see here. Travel and all, I spent about $1k going to see them. Never considered spending anywhere close to that to see the likes of Metallica, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, etc. But for these ladies I would do it over and over again.

@@TankTheTech Jimmy attended a rock festival in Tokyo in 2016. After Band-Maid's set he sent word to Band-Maid's people that he wanted to meet Akane. The initial response was she thought she was being pranked. She wasn't. They talked in private and we're photographed together. That picture is my screen saver. Later Akane would say "Mr Jimmy Page-San offered me many words of encouragement and I promised him l would do my best to live up to his kind words." That's the extent of it but when you figure he could easily meet any act there the only one he wanted to meet was Akane then that is fairly impressive.

Yes Misa plays thru orange amp, miku evh and kanami uses a mesa. I thought zernatks guitars are rarely used too, the only one I saw yet was the bass player Alicia Vigil of dragonforce who also is the front woman of Vigil of War playing their bass Version. Looks nice. Tho Misa is playing a fender look a like 5 string Called black smoker by black cloud. Also a Japanese based company. I was trying to order one but I don't have connections there and they never answer. :/

Check on "Vladimir Chupin" channel for his personal recording... The only downside on his Hamburg 2019 vids, is a steel beam smack on middle of the stage, can't really see Miku and MISA

In addition to being a unicorn here!! 🦄 Akane (Drummer & band Leader) plays the trombone & is a classically trained pianist. 🎹 As well as playing in an acoustic band in addition to BandMaid. Okay, nice reaction ... there are a few other live songs from this same concert that are MUST SEES, and normally I'd say that you HAVE to stick with live shows with Band-Maid, but there are a few MVs that need to be seen. The one MV I would most recommend is 'Blooming'. And you have just scratched the surface ... this band is incredible even beyond the just what you saw. Miku, the girl playing the Zemaitis formed the band. At the time she was a 'failed' idol singer but still had an idea for a band who played hard rock and wore Maid outfits. She contacted the lead guitarist who was doing KZbin video covers at the time, who knew the Drummer, who knew the Bassist. And they formed a band. Miku realized she didn't have the rock voice to pull off the lead vocals so they interviewed for a singer ... and that's basically how the band was formed. Miku does most of the lyric writing, and while us non-Japanese probably don't appreciate it, she is considred quiet the poet in Japan, and on top of that she writes in a special style (the Japanese language uses very short syllables, almost always ending in a vowel sound, but there is a witing style which is supposedly very hard to write in and very hard to sing, that adjusts the way the words are sung to make them flow better .. I don't pretend to understand it, but suffice it to say that Miku is great at writing that style and her and Siaki (the lead singer) are great at singing that style. Kanami, the lead guitarist does most of the music writing and arrangments, and as you have heard and probably appreciate by now she is a goddess of riffs and fills, and her leads are always the most tasteful ... she doesn't just shred, she writes her solos to be remembered. Then there are the Bass (MISA, MISA, MISA) and Drums (Kanami) ... there are few rhythm sections that can hold together a song better than these two (no, I take that back, there are not 'few', there are NONE.) and to top it off they both kill it on their solos. Kanami, MISA, and Akane are all multi-instrumentalists and musically schooled (Miku didn't even play guitar when she joined, but Kanami is her teacher and every once in awhile Miku will do some nice fills and riffs of her own.) Unlike most bands, Band-Maid doesn't really have a 'frontman' ... Miku does a lot of the 'small talk' during the shows, but they are not like most bands where there are one or two main members and the rest sort of stiin the background .. all of the girls here have their onstage and off-stage personas, and they give their fans something to keep them interested above and beyond the music. The band itself also has an 'alter-ego' called 'Band_Maiko' ... every year on April 1 (pandemics notwithstanding) they dress up in Maiko (Geisha in training) uniforms, add some traditional Japanese instruments sounds to the mix and release a special ear & eye candy music video for their fans .. they've also release a mini-album where 'Band-Maiko' does 'covers' of some 'Band-Maid' songs. Anyway, Band-Maid is such a treat ... have a great journey because they have over 90 songs in their catalog and all of them are awesome.

Some other great ones to react to that haven't been really mentioned yet are Alone, The Non Fiction Days, Order, Puzzle, and Daydreaming. Live is best, but MVs are fine if you can't find them. I'm sure people out there would be able to help you out with the recently deleted live videos though. They've really branched out since they started writing their own music and have incorporated many different styles when creating them. Can you believe when Miku the Rhythm Guitarist first made the band, she had no idea how to play the guitar. She was taught by Kanami the Lead Guitarist. I saw them for the first time in LA in September and they blew me away. It was a small venue with basically just them and little production and it was such a great time.
