The actress learnt fencing, playing the cello and took other lessons and did the stunts all herself for this role
@JynxRyl2 жыл бұрын
Yes she did very well for all her scenes that she did. But it seems professional fencers were used for the first 2 rounds (with the masks on) you can see the different form and technique when the masks were on vs off… but ofc Jenna did excellent with learning and executing for her role.

@@sftvbell9043 not all. Most. She had Covid for two whole days of filming so I assumed they used doubles for those stunts. Though I’m not sure which scenes those are.

The Addams family have never been evil. Macabre, goth, dark, and spooky, sure, but not evil. They never have any intent to hurt anyone who doesn't deserve it, and the creepy things they do to themselves are just because they enjoy it, and there's always consent 😁

You’re absolutely right that is the original Wednesday from the 1991 and 1993 film of the Addams Family you actually figured it out as soon as you saw her I didn’t notice until maybe later in this episode or the 2nd episode so I knew I had to watch the rest of this show it’s amazing. Great reaction !! 🙌🏾

I would call Lisa Loring the original Wednesday, as she played her in the 60's sitcom version.

I honestly didn’t think my comment would be seen let alone responded to lol but just in case it did I wanted to make it clear I was referring to the 90s WA vs the 60s WA as I’m more familiar with the 90s WA so that’s why I included the yrs but when it comes to the 60s and 90s WA they’re legends of their eras. 🙌🏾

Finally got the time to watch this. I work retail and I don't have as much time on my hands these days. There were several versions of The Addams Family. It started as a New Yorker comic in 1938. Then it was adapted into a live action sitcom in 1964, followed by a cartoon series in 1973, following a crossover with Scooby Doo. It later got a 1991 & 1993 film. This seems to of helped it get a new cartoon in 1992. The New Addams Family was another live action series that started airing in 1998, and that was the last I've heard of it until now. The grandmother might of been a witch or something, but beyond their ability to survive torture, I don't recall them having any powers. The visions is something new. Still that was all done for comedy. The Netflix version is certainly the darkest version I've ever seen. Thing T. Thing, or Thing for short, was originally some creature too horrifying to see in person. The only part of it that could be safely seen was it's human arm, which was the only part we got to see. It would come out of a box or a hatch or something to do some task, then go back in. Thing was changed to a disembodied hand for the 1991 film and has stuck with that form ever since. The scars are new.

Hello, you two. Thought I'd leave a comment to express my support to you guys. I love love love your reactions. The Addams Family represents unlicensed passions very accurately, for example, with Morticia and Gomez' openness about their sex life. However, although most Gothic works claimed to use vice and violence as means to denounce society, they were seen as mere promoters of wrongful social behaviour they are a horror-themed comedy, The Addams Family exists as a parody of the ideal American family. This idea pops up in cultural differences, such as the Addams coming from old money, rather than being a self-made breadwinner/homemaker household.

@kaodi6993 Жыл бұрын
interesting. I liked the idea that The Addams represent these types of family with hint of satire
@kurtsnyder4752 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the Addamses are "old" money rich from wayback pre middle ages, supposedly lent Queen Isabella the cash for Columbus's expedition, involved in the Dutch Trading Company and other such ventures; however, Gomez is wealthy from his investments from his Superlawyer( practices in all states, countries in North America and most European countries and China and Japan, plus several in South America and Africa) work and patents made. A fictional character's wealth ranking has the family as a whole at almost $10 billion and Gomez's personal at almost $2 billion. That's partially how they can afford their, umm, eccentricities.

Hi Jyn, Ryl. Fancy meeting you two again. 😊 I thought, when I signed off on Warrior Nun, that I would see you in the next life, but who knew you'd react to this gem of a show. I tend to rant, as you well know, so I'll try and keep this short. If you are an Adams Family fan, and I am, you would be aware that the family is creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky and altogether ooky, (theme song) but otherwise harmless and loving. Wednesday is your typical rebellious teenager, and she is being difficult and obstinate. Her character is played brilliantly by Jenna Ortega, and I love Gwendoline Christie, (Brienne of Tarth in GOT) as 6'3" Principal Weems. Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the nineties Adams Family movies, is also great as Ms. Thornhill. The real star of the show is "Thing." He comes in handy. 🤣 I hope Uncle Fester makes an appearance. That could be enlightening! Okay. I'll stop now. As usual, you two are brilliant, entertaining and offer thoughtful analysis. I'm on board for the ride. Cheers from sunny Australia.

Bulging eyes,hairy feet and decaying,dark Gothic architecture being contrasted with modern suburban architecture are amongst Tim Burton`s fetishes.He is very much influenced by 1930s art deco which is perfect for the Addams Family because they were originally a 1930s comic strip in the New Yorker newspaper.
