Hi there, I am not if there is an app that you can use to control the speaker, i am only using the remote but rarely, I still prefer the buttons which are very responsive even after 5 months. Hope this helps.

I bought both this and JBL Party-on-the-go, and JBL is by far better quality, albeit more expensive so as expected. Partybox encore is even more expensive, so assuming an equal or larger product disparity.

I returned it. I bought it from Amazon. I bought a better karaoke machine. It was more expensive, but it was worth it. Plus it came with an AC charger.
