I really dig the way you do your demos. What you are playing and the sounds you conjure really highlight the full potential of the instruments you share. It is mind and ear opening to hear you explain and play a guitar like this which I wouldn’t previously give much consideration to.

I’m similar in choosing a guitar. If I see a small detail like the headstock that others don’t, I want it. My Yamaha bass has a small color change on maple fretboard that follows a wood grain. I really love it. I love dark rosewood boards but I also enjoy figured grain subtle natural multi color ones as well.

Wonderful demo and playing. I find modern-day PRS SEs are incredible value for money. I prefer the sound of my PRS SE DGT over my Core CE24. It has become one of my main gigging guitars. The basement demo is a great addition in my opinion. All the very best to you.

Excellent video, Jonathan! I actually have 3 Silver Sky guitars; one SE with a maple board, one SE with a rosewood board and then a core SS with a rosewood board. I think that I’ve shared with you previously that the core model is my “Bliss Machine”. Without leading the proverbial witness to much, you really, really, really need to try a core Silver Sky. While I certainly enjoy both of my SE’s a bunch, the core absolutely is “an entirely different creature”. I am quite looking forward to your next video on your SE’s. Good cliffhanger!

I’ve played for over 50 yrs . Just thought I’d give a big yes and thumbs up to the core. I’m hoping to get a hold of one soon. Couldn’t afford it at the time.

Got my lefty a few days ago. Verdict: Impressive. Why? While not a gourmet steak cooked to perfection....more like my favorite comfort food. While not a fancy tuxedo....more like my favorite pair of jeans. Different feel, unique sound/tonal pallet....LOVE IT!! I upgrade all my pups....just prefer the boutique brands....the SE's pups are not 'boutique' clear/chime.....but sound excellent in their own right. I understand all the hub-bub these last two years.

Great video! The separate amp only section is a nice feature and adds dimensions to the videos. I've been trying many Silver sky SEs, and noticed some neck shapes are slightly different. If one doesn't feel great, you never know, another may be just right. I also noticed some fret sprout on many at least at big box stores. Easily solved with humidification, some tech work, but still annoying.
@RatherBeRiffing7 ай бұрын
Thank you! I've noticed fret sprout on some examples too. My maple board version developed sprout over time despite being in a humidified environment. However, I easily fixed it with 10 minutes of filing (a bit frustrating though as you mentioned).
@andreaklian49567 ай бұрын
@@RatherBeRiffing good to know it wasn't just me! Did you just do a side filing or did you dress the ends and corners too? It takes me about 30 min but if I go through each with a feet end dressing file and then some sand paper and micro mesh, it comes out really nice.
@Chris_OConnor6 ай бұрын
This sounds interesting, but it also makes me worry about getting one myself.. i would expect that the neck shapes are all the same on these models and i would feel ashamed getting into Thomann here in Germany and ask for a few ones to try out before I buy one... Now I'm not sure anymore about getting one or not man.

New sub. I appreciate the production quality of your videos and the consideration you give to a wealth of elements that may be of interest to players. Really thorough and well done. The ambience is really pleasing and lends itself to both your style of playing as well as a singular focus on the audio. I wouldn't bother with basement iphone examples personally, since the iphone audio quality is kind of a throw away when you have such a great setup upstairs. Maybe others find it useful? Great playing nonetheless. When should we look for the comparison between maple and rosewood?

Like myself I'm sure many are looking forward to the next video. Personally I prefer the look of the dark fretboard over the maple but only when it's on a dark body otherwise maple is the way to go for me. I'm on the lookout for a mint used black fender strat with dark fretboard however the silver sky is in the running unfortunately haven't come across any locally to be able to compare the fender with the silver sky. I prefer try before you buy. Looking forward to the next comparison video!

@@RatherBeRiffing Excellent idea. Nowadays it’s so difficult to come up with an original sound that’s interesting and moving, which you’ve managed to do.
