Kota is even more Stressful. The competition here is much higher than South Korea. Our population is huge and everyone is completing with each other. 80+ students have scored full marks in NEET this year. Students aren't getting AIMS Delhi even after scoring such good marks. A perfect score that too in NEET is crazy.

For some reason, I am obsessed about this topic- the education system of south Korea. I am very glad I didn't need to study in south Korea, I would have not been able to handle the pressure and the competition. I actually have lots of criticism about this system. I think it is too stressful and I highly doubt that it is a form of really learning something.... I think this system should change because sometimes this system leads to mental problems of the students. I am aware the the students of south Korea excel the OECD tests and all, but I also doubt that these tests are the ultimate indicator for wisdom, intelligence etc. Anyway, good luck for all those who need to take the SAT in south Korea soon, I hope you are doing fine!

Yea and with no real learning a very few students do real learning and actually understanding the lessons and how its done most are just study for sake of bringing numbers. Many don’t have interest in studies also but our parent just want us to study what they want it’s like we are born to complete their dream and no one gives f about what we want and we are also emotionally manipulated by saying that your parent has done so much for you can’t you just do this for them etc . Its horrible .

@@simranverma7078 I agree that very few students do real learning, in general. in the past, some people got the chance to study and explore some topic they really like and interested about, whereas nowadays the situation is very different. I feel sorry for what you describe regarding the parents and their children... It is unfortunate, because parents love towards their kids should be unconditional, but I do recognize that some of the parents are like that because their own parents were like that and some of them truly care about their kids success but can't manage it in a healthy way. However, I think that the most important thing is mental health and physical health that are very related to each other, and stressing your kid can make him/her sick and it is just not worth it.

The joy of learning gets lost in this system. They're learning how to position themselves for a "good job" in a company,as are their peers.Too many can't afford a decent place to live, even after graduating. It's a Darwinian treadmill. The economic winners are the companies. Young people should not have to drive themselves to exhaustion to build a life for themselves.

@@ayushi2540 the competition is always be there, the smarter the population the harder it is. And ofc not everyone can go to colleges but higher education does not always mean top degree at uni. There are also community colleges and vocational studies for those who are prepared to be a workforce. Their population have high education. With what you say about your country when chances to go to colleges only 1%. Then dont ask why getting a job is hard bcs most people have no idea what to do. @@stephet3683 Every State in the US has their "upper" tier public school. Sounds silly, but it's usually University of "xxx" State, but there are a lot of exceptions + different campuses. I grew up in Maryland. University of Maryland is the good school with lowish requirements. It accepts about 45% of the applicants. UNC Chapel Hill, U of Michigan Ann Arbor, UT Austin are all great schools with acceptance rates of 20% (UT is a bit higher). There is a trick though. If you do terrible in high school and get your act together. Go to a state junior college and get all As. Doesn't negate bad test scores, but wipes your high school grades clean. (from the internet) _I transferred with a lousy high school record. I went back to school at Alamance Community College NC which had a transfer program to UNC-Greensboro. However, after research, I found a list of courses that transferred to Chapel Hill. I took these courses and received grades from the community college and the UNC at Greensboro. Pretty cool. I then applied to UNC-CH and received part time status. After another year and a couple of battles with the deans (who were excellent folks) I was accepted full time. I was a high school drop out with a GED. I am now a published archaeologist. Poor but happy._

I don't like private cram schools being such a big thing. For students with disabilities and extra needs, sure. But the normalization of these for normal students poses problems: 1) learning and doing well in school becomes more and more dependent on also attending these extracurricular activities, which means students who come from wealthy families get an unfair advantage over poor students. 2) Free time, and time for other aspects of life such as establishing relationships, socialization, exploring hobbies and interests etc. is important for development, especially at this age, and cram schools expand the school time into the personal space, making it into full time studying. Education should be EQUAL for ALL, no matter wealth, background, gender, race, religion... Don't ever privatize education. It is such an important building stone in our society. Making it unequal means an unequal job market, meaning we are stuck in the past with pre-defined roles depending on which family we are born into and which genes we happen to have, which we cannot chose or change.

Alot of these places have become gold rush shovel stands - making money from people who will not get into these universities. If, Koreans were to attend their local universities and perform good research/works there, the prestige of those universities would naturally go up. Koreans are intelligent and dutiful in their studies, it would help to grow the rest of the country. Everyone heading to the same place creates a detrimental effect that damages the country, if all resources are around Seoul and everyone wants to head there, then there is only minimal gains and little benefit in this approach. (I worked in Seoul, and have quite a lot of good friends from there, they work in Academia).

This is one of the reasons why South Korea's birthrate is so low. Many do not want to marry and have kids because putting your child to school is expensive. The after school classes in top tiered hagwons are not cheap.

It’s so interesting how they call this studying, while they still barely speak English even though they “study” so many hours.

English is not a parameter of learning. These people have their own language as much as the Japanese or Chinese.

This is just bullshit.. i bet i know more than those "eating in the road cause i have no time to waste" kind of people.. study is all about how much you enjoy it , if u force someone into it, it will eventually just backfire in the form of mental health issues in future... I literally studied for only about 5-6 hrs daily to get into IIT which is like a benchmark of tough exams and it's really hard for me to believe that their exams could be any harder than jee advanced.. i can say most of them are there just because of pressure from their peers and family

i was thinking the same thing....i bet even in kota or delhi students don't study like that...and they showed people memorising vocab whenever they are eating or walking..like idk i never felt the need to memorise the vocab and i have given some tough english exams also..there has never been a moment in my life where i couldn't understand english(this doesn't mean that i am weak in hindi,i am very well versed in hindi also)but i never studied like the students in the video...i think they really need to make some changes in their education policy.

@@mannapatel4552 it's obvious cause Indians have a higher iq genetically than south koreans. So we don't need to spend a lot of time in studying. We don't have to memorize the Vocabulary, it just comes as natural.
