Weather forecast is a notoriously unreliable news. Even in this age why are we so poor in predicting the weather behaviour? How does weather forecast work? What are the challenges in it?

Such models are also unable to predict monsoons accurately. Tropical weather is far more complex than temperate weather. By the way, the models used by the India Meteorological Department were developed by the US National Centres for Environmental Prediction.

കാലാവസ്ഥാ ശാസ്ത്രം ഒരുപാട് വേഗത്തിൽ വളർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ശാസ്ത്രശാഖയാണ്. കേരളത്തിന്റെ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞാൽ, നമ്മുടെ കാലാവസ്ഥ കൂടുതൽ സങ്കീർണ സ്വഭാവമുള്ള tropical climate ആണ്. അതിനനുസരിച്ച് പ്രവചനം കൂടുതൽ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടാകും,

Dude, India is in the Tropics. Whereas USA and other European Countries are in temperate region. Cyclones in the Tropics, Monsoon Rains, El Nino, La Nina etc are very hard to predict since many many things have to come together for a perfect or close to perfect prediction. Do you know that for an efficient monsoon Sub Tropical Jet Streams have to appear exactly in the lower atmosphere in the Horn of Africa? Its very very diffucult to predict. Whereas Temperate Cyclones are very very easy to predict. Even before three days or four days the weather department can predict the speed and the regions coming under the cyclone. Because lesser variables are involved it is very very easy to predict. Thats the point.
