With how one-sided the media is, its good that someone spoke out on the real injustice, I'm sick of us always getting this one-sided news where we're gods and everyone else is evil, people aren't just pirates for no reason, they are out of desperation, and if we truly have good intentions we should have found out about them dumping into the waters a long time ago. This is an injustice to the somali people and something should be done

It is truly sad how most people never get to hear both sides of a story. The news don't usually lie nowadays they just exaggerate facts and leave out maybe the most crucial facts to help you see the full picture of a situation. Big powers sometimes do tend to misinform their people of their actions. Like why did we go to iraq, somalia, vietnam.REALLY! In contrary to somalia, humanitarian help is need, not on the news as often.Thumbs up for K'naan telling people the unheard version.

Should be broadcast worldwide. All I knew about piracy in Somalia was some dang south park episode, which touched on some of the topic. Haven't seen anything like this in any news, hence this. Water is the most essential necessity, especially in some crazy place with limited resources. "I Was Stabbed By Satan" is a fine song Knaan! Am going to South Africa and Namibia in a couple of years from now for humanitarian stuff. I am blessed with what I've been given. This better not post twice!

It's so nice to see how racism is still so rampant in the U.S. It's people like you that prove that even though we elected our first Black President that race and racism is still live and well in our country. Unfortunately with many individuals like yourself, you see only the bad, or what you understand to be bad about our community. Dead weight we are far from in white and blacks in America live in poverty. Poverty knows no color.

@TheRoyalFreshness69 And about that one french hostage whos dead now: Military sources last night said it was unclear whether Lemaçon, the owner of the yacht, had been killed accidentally or whether he had been murdered. General Jean-Louis Georgelin, the army chief, said the 28-year-old had been shot inside the yacht during an exchange of fire between French forces and the pirates

thats so true brother....if only the media could capture that aspect of this problem, then resolution would have been founded a long time ago. it's like newton's law of relativity...."to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction"....these companies started with a action and now you get the opposite reaction.

I've seen K'Naan live. He's mad talented and intelligent! One thing though, I have no doubt that companies use the shores of Somalia as their own personal dumpster. But, we've never heard anything of this From the pirates. They've had ample opportunity to speak their opinion but they don't. All they do is demand ransoms right? I don't know what to make of it. Peace

As has been said money makes the world go round. That statement really comes into play in modern society right. Like people in sudan think they're getting killed because of their beliefs and those in the north don't even hear about it. Obviously partly i'd say but mostly because they're living on rich lands of oil. Interest = money= makes the world go round. Dumping waste in somalia = don't need to pay = save money = nobody is going to stop us = perfect solution! People get to hear both sides!

The validity of a "pirate presence" off the coast of Somalia extends only to the prevention of foreign ships dumping nuclear waste. Essentially, because of the dissolution of ANY formal government in the country, any protectionary naval force would qualify as "pirate". This validity is lost, however, when commercial freighters using the shipping route are hijacked. The continued search and subsequent argument over where this all started will do nothing to rectify the situation.
@Virtuosoplayr15 жыл бұрын
You guys are focusing on why it still exists today, he was talking about the origins of piracy.
@JamieSunderland15 жыл бұрын
the thing is that since the people who were protecting the somalian shores have already been transformed by greed, not polluting won't stop the problem now, it sounds like pollution was just the initiator of the mess. However, we really shouldn't have been in the first place and especially something as toxic and dangerous as nuclear waste.
