While there are stellar performances (William Macy especially), there are a few cringey moments. (I’m looking at you, Glenn Close.) The awkward cut to the ad hoc candlelit vigil in front of the White House is gag-worthy. This could’ve been underplayed loads and pack a more powerful emotional punch. I really like Wolfgang Peterson, but I don’t think he was in control of this as much as he would’ve liked.
