There's like so many groups with 6 members though that havent lost a member, Ive, Apink, stayc, everglow, Astro, oneus, oh my girl. And older groups too. Hello Venus, GFriend, April. A group is way more likely statistically to stay as 6 than lose a member in controversy so you really don't need to worry about your favs lol. Maybe this is just click bait or Maybe it's cause kpop fans starve for a scandel every other day so they feel to need to take some little phenomenon as a dark omen or some crap even though statistics says otherwise. but if something happens a few times it seems a little cruel to doom all 6 member groups to a 'curse' that only happened thrice in quick succession a short amount of time. Plus bigger groups are waayy more likely to lose members than 6 memebered groups. It's an actual feat twice are still going strong years later past debut as 9 that I don't think many talk about enough, Like consistently still producing music as a full group, not randomly coming back for a reunion as a group out of the blue years later or something. I wish we'd spread more positive messages about long-standing groups instead of pretending as if having six members mean you'll lose a member by cherry picking examples to fit a negative narrative.

for the commenters here, I think op meant (correct me if I am wrong), groups name have numbers that symbilize the amount of members in the group. example: fromis_9 (they are in 8 now...fun fact: they were initially going for fromis only w/o the 9). seventeen, on the other hand, doesn't represent the amount of members in the group, cus my boys are in thirteen lmao. for the "1" in kep1er, it simply symbolizes that the members are in one (yk, just like IZ*ONE = 12/IZ in/* ONE). another case of the number not actually representing the amount of members in the group is 4MINUTE (1. It means that each of its member will attract audiences in 4 minutes and this is why all of their songs are shorter than 4 minutes. 2. The other meaning is that they will do their best for a minute - for every moment; thanks google). (again, op correct me if am wrong lmao). another small fun fact: seventeen was actually meant to be a 17-members bg, but instead they debuted in thirteen, so the meaning of group stands for "thirteen members + three units + one group".

okay but le serrafim and gidle's similarities are almost eerie. both groups debuted may 2nd, both have former survival show contestants in the lineup, both lost a member to a school bullying scandal, both members accused were later proven innocent (definitively in soojin's case and most likely in garam's case), both accused had a scandal that happened when they were the same age (12 years old), both groups fandoms' even used the same slogan (6-1=0) during the scandal LMAO. maybe the real curse is having may 2nd has a debut date XD

Garam was proven innocent actually. She was never a bully, she and her friend group argued with the " victim " because the victim was talking behind their backs + posting a picture of their mutual friend on Facebook without her clothes, basically committing sexual harassment. No bullying was taking place.

I don’t want this comment to be taken the wrong way bc I wish everyday that Soojin was still a part of Idle. However, after she left there seemed to be a noticeable improvement in the group. Their last two comebacks were phenomenal and each member was given a chance to shine. Shuhua especially levelled up her skills and really stole the show with Nxde. I feel like Soojin leaving forced some members out of their shells and are really slaying with each comeback. I do wish Soojin was still in Idle but I think the group has adjusted really well. Also edit: There were a lot of classmates/teachers who came to Soojin defense and claimed she was not a bully. There was more evidence that she was not guilty than evidence that she was.

No you are completely right, so don’t worry about it being taken the wrong way. The sad thing about the situation though is that the members had no choice but to improve. After soojin left people were anticipating their downfall or that they’d flop - so they really had no choice but to give it their all - especially when trying to fill the soojin sized gap. Don’t get me wrong I love seeing the members flourish and all stand on a equal ground but I also do wish soojin could’ve been there. Soojin leaving truly was the push they needed to improve themselves

I agree. They are having their best year so far. Last year Kpop fans argued with me when I said (G)I-DLE didn't disband, and then they argued with me when I said they will survive without Soojin. I am sorry she is gone, but I love the music they released this year. If it had been Miyeon instead of Soojin then I would be really devastated.

STAYC members have almost all teachers and classmate vouch their back, especially Sumin, Sieun, Seeun & J because they're known as the sweetest person in their class. Oneus too now with RAVN leaving the group due to a controversy too. The controversy is from an alleged ex girlfriend claiming SA. I haven’t kept up with this in detail so I cannot say much. what I do know is that he left quite quickly after the rumor spread which I believe is wrong and is what happened to many of the idols in this video. If they just put the member on hiatus and actually looked into the story so many idols would still be in their group. While I am indifferent on RAVNs situation I think it was a decision that could have been more thought out as the company must know of these situations of idols getting kicked out of their group just to be proven innocent later.

Another case some may not know of is... *EXID* It debuted as a six-member group with "Whoz That Girl". Shortly after that, half of the members left and went on to be featured in the lineup of the now-disbanded group BESTie. About Garam's case, the school document was released by Garam herself and was released all the way back in August 10th as well, but it only blew up recently. The document released is the full version of the document that accusers first posted, the accusers cropped the document to make Garam loook like the one in the wrong. It's also been further revealed that the accuser who came out with a statement on May 19th is the bully.

The thing with bullying accusations is that it's really tough, because the bully will NEVER remember being a bully, but the bullied will always remember their bully. There's like actual research and stuff behind that. So the accused will always say that they're innocent because they truly do not remember. But I feel like idols shouldn't be kicked out of groups unless hard evidence is brought forth. A lot of it has to do with how the company handles it too.

No, fans ARE to be blamed since they hounded BOTH HYBE and LE SSERAFIM, saying that they will ditch supporting the group with a "bully" in it. Despite HYBE's contention of protecting Garam, fans forced HYBE to let her go since her affiliation with the group may affect the group's success. After all, it's still a business, so regardless if they really wanted Garam to stay (they really wanted to), they were given no choice but to let her go. Not defending HYBE or what, but with how brutal K-fandom is, even to the most trivial of details, whatever they could have done would have also been refuted by arrogant K-fans, no matter how convincing evidences might have been. In fact, had Garam stayed, there would still be K-netz and I-fans(?) who will use the issue against the group. K-pop is just that absurd. Just the fact that bullying a minor to leave the group just to "prove a point" without having reliable evidence is enough reason to know that most fans are too wicked. Now that documents supporting Garam has been released, the same fans do not even care to look at them and rectify their earlier statements and actions against HYBE and Garam. In the end, Eunseo(?) was successful, Garam was hated by the majority. Now that everything's out in the clear, suddenly there's silence.

to be real honest, HYBE Labels defended her a lot, for a long time. It was the general public (myself included) that believed her guilt, and the backlash was so big, especially in SK, that I feel they kinda had no other option as to not ruin LE SSERAFIM's reputation. (there are still people in Korea who boycott all the members of Stray Kids because of the bullying scandal of Hwang Hyunjin, even to this day)

on august 10th garam posted the full school violence committee document this was the same cropped document that yoo eunseo (the accuser/alleged victim) posted to make garam look bad but the full document tells the whole story of eunseo gossiping about garam resulting in garam cutting eunseo off and then eunseo posted a photo of garam's friend in only her underwear so garam did what any other 12 y/o would do and confronted her and while some of us were under the impression that she cursed at eunseo the document said she only said "fucking speechless" towards eunseo commiting molka (molka is what i stated earlier of taking pornographic photos and videos of someone without consent) but the thing is ppl didn't read the doc when she posted it it took almost 3 months to blow up which is a bit frustrating but at least ppl are actually reading it so yes garam is innocent and hopefully some ppl aside from myself have learned from this case but i know that the majority of ppl who sided against garam will do the same in the next bullying scandal i really appreciate you still talking about it and making it known that you don't have a lot of info bc i know there's a lot of other ppl who would share the evidence of her guilt without the evidence of her innocence so here's what the now debunked accusations against garam were saying: she drew inappropriate things on the chalk boards (not really that bad if she did bc all 12 y/os act up like that lmao), she drank alcohol and smoked cigarettes and there was a photo for proof but it was actually a lollipop in her mouth, writing ive down le sserafim up (this wad in 2018 before iz*one was even formed so there was no ive or le sserafim yet so this debunks itself), called sakura a plastic monster (this was actually a member of sakura's former group hkt48 who said that), she was a former starship trainee (somu confirmed later that garam was never under another company before going to somu), she threw a brick and flowerpot at someone's head (this one is debunked by the school reports of that semester showing there was no physical violence at all plus i'm pretty sure that would've gotten garam arrested for murder or attempted murder bc it would've killed or at least injured someone very badly), the next one is stupid bc eunseo said it was actually the backlash she recieved that made her try to take her own life but some ppl said garam made her try it, and well there's also the cursing at eunseo but cursing isn't bad really I JUST REMEMBERED THE ONE I FORGOT there's so many accusations that i forgot this one but she was also accused of being a bts sasaeng who was obsessed with v but that was debunked too i forgot how but i do know that if she was a sasaeng somu would've found out long before she made it to the debut lineup and it's very unlikely they would've debuted her also after kakao was exposed it makes sense why the accusations involving ive and wonyoung came up bc ive is under starship who pay kakao for positive posts about their artists while garam was under a company who doesn't so she became an easy target

i honestly don’t know why hybe debuted garam as they very likely knew she had something on her record. if garam was in her 20s, they could very much explain it away by saying she was an immature child who was trying to protect her friend, but did it in the wrong way, but she was 16 & she was 12 only four years ago. & the way they “protected” was so bad. painting her entirely as the victim & then doing nothing afterwards only to kick her out in one of the most heartless ways possible, just terrible. honestly whether u dislike or like garam we should just leave her be as she’s been through enough as it is. hopefully she’ll be ok.

Tbh this is why I don't think debuting minors is a good idea, 1. there is a lot of proof that garam is innocent yet I think hybe couldn't do much about it or say too much seeing how minors were involved 2. Somehow people don't understand that people under the age of 25 are still developing and growing, therefore its understandable how these types of situations can be created amongst teens and I don't think the reaction (ex. The bullying, ending careers, etc) is justified

I think the one thing Hybe should have done was reveal whether or not she was guilty or innocent like Cube with Soojin she got a hiatus to what we would think investigating and saying she wasn't being removed but she was just terminated without any real explanation. Hybe defended Garam but halted it and never said if it was if she was innocent or not, what was up against them that made them remove her even though they defended her heavily at first unless Hybe says something I'm just not sure what to believe. There's so much conflicting evidence on both sides that it should have never been brought to light for the public to decide rather it should have been handled legally behind scenes

i think there needs to be a time frame on what can be considered part of the curse and what can't. in apink's case, if you've been promoting as a 6 member group for nearly 10 years without losing a member..... does that really count? i think if it does then you can say every group is cursed to lose a member at some point because it's irrational to think that every idol wants to be a part of their group for the rest of their lives. the longer a group is together, the more likely at least one person is going to want to do something different, regardless of how many members they started with. and i think the reverse is true as well with some of the groups you listed at the end. if you've been around for less than 2 years, is that considered surviving a curse?

I've been a fan of Oneus and Onewe even before their debut and Ravn leaving made me feel so incredibly sorry for them. I hope that the person claiming those things will be confronted by RBW taking legal action after an investigation. They destroyed someones whole career by spearding these rumors and I honestly doubt they are true since they suddenly appeared after Oneus getting more exposure, announcing their world tour and winning four prizes in a row. The timing is incredible off and I wish Ravn wouldn't have felt the need to leave and wait until the accusations were proven wrong. I miss him

Something I've noticed is that it feels like this year has been a big year of groups losing members. I don't know if I just haven't been as updated previous years, but with so many happening this year, it just feels like something's in the air. Lightsum, lesserfim, victon, oneus, treasure & weeekly come to mind immediately but I believe there's at least 7 more, if not higher.

My opinion on bullying scandals as someone who was bullied in elementary and middle school is that it genuinely does not matter as much as people make it out to be. Of course I would be pissed if one of the kids who caused me to develop a personality and eating disorder became a famous idol because while they're on TV I’m in a psychiatrist's office and I'm the one who has to live with the consequences of their actions forever but I wouldn’t wish for their career to end. I would want an apology and I would want them to publicly acknowledge their actions and I would want them to make up for what they did (by donating to anti-bullying organizations, for example) but I wouldn't want their career to end because I can differentiate who they were years ago from who they are now. And who they are now doesn't deserve to have their dreams ended.

@@channiepetersen9311 if I may also share my take, I don’t “feel” that about Astro. I don’t know from where assumptions are from but chipping in cos others come on here to hear opinions. Fantagio does promote the members, have you seen them at different Korean cities concerts and other events? Maybe intl promotion kinda it’s still there, but do have promotional activities. And Eunwoo is known more simply because he is also an actor that makes it easy for international fans and non fans to see him. But if you strip that back he really isn’t, and that also makes sense for him in a way to go about some activities like how the other subunits are. It’s called growth and expansion as individuals, building strong identity for themselves and the group as a whole. We just need to hope and pray nothing in any form happens, but your reasoning for they possibly falling victim is just what I wanted to comment on. It’s good to be anxious nothing happens but not start making speculations I believe.
