A great source of information about FIFTY FIFTY that I would recommend is FightForFifi! They have so many great threads that should help you to understand and keep updated. I cannot believe that it has nearly been a year since the members filled for their injunction against the company. It started with their reason being them wanting financial transparency however, everything has now grown greatly. It still surprises me sometimes with how much hate the members got for their choice with some people choosing to support the company and the ceo having his own stans. I hope that we will see 3jeong return soon as in an update, it was said they were searching for new management.

Honestly, people should really stop wanting to box Le Sserafim in a single style or genre. Them being explorative with their sound isn’t solely contingent on chasing trends because their identity of being fearless is to explore anything, and that includes music genres. Also the lyrics and vibe of Easy (and the rest of the album) is so well aligned with their current place in their career because it is actually about themselves (maybe why they don’t have love songs in general).

@@ange7679 You don't make sense. First of all, if you actually bothered to read the lyrics even once, "making it look Easy" means working hard so much that it will appear as natural to the audience. It's not braggy in an any way but rather an acknowledgement of their own shortcomings and how since they're not natural at it, they will overcome that through hardwork. Secondly, all of music (or even content in general) is borrowed or inspired one way or another (especially from the black community), but it is up to the artist to make it their own. Amapiano has long existed before Tyla and to credit solely her for the genre is a huge disrespect. Le Sserafim made the lyrics of Smart about how they are going to handle their own journey as idols (by being "smart" about it), plus the choreo they added was just like their other dances for their other songs: groovy, sexy, intensive, and fun. Additionally, because of Bang PD, Le Sserafim works with so many great producers from around the world, with each having their own specialty like Isabella Lovestory for Antifragile (reggaeton), and Sean Turk for Easy (trap). People keep misunderstanding Le Sserafim, their concept, and their personalities and it's gotten so tiring. If you don't like a group that doesn't stick to one sound/concept, fine, you do you and you can choose from tons of other groups that chose that mindset in their entire musical career. But to say all Le Sserafim is doing as simply copying rather than exploration because they believe that the fans who'd love listening to them prefer something new and fresh every time they comeback rather than an iteration of the same old thing is an insult to them.

As an old (33yr old) kpop ahjumma this is just so sad. Idols back then were allowed to have 2 YEARS hiatus in order to rest and produce their own music. The groups now are constantly overworked, expected to make bangers every comeback when they only have a few months to prep and are pressured to be funny in variety content. That's INSANE. The idols need time in order to make bangers.

I thought the vairety show pressure was always there in addition to consistent comebacks or else the tvxq lawsuits wouldn't have happened with as always yg being an exception (Sandara mentioning how her friend in an sm group complained about having too many comebacks while she wished her group had one) Smaller company groups seem to have lesser comebacks but still work a lot, also Aespa is an SM exception as they complained before about being bored with no work and Karina telling Hyeri to invite her to work on the show cause she has nothing to do.

@@naobwv3633 that should be the norm! Back when promos would take 6 months and another 6-7 months of concert tours. Then they get another few months to produce and rehearse for the next comeback. Idols even had time to be regulars in variety shows which helped the groups immensely. The entire group can rest while 2-3 members semi promote the group by being on variety shows. Even with this schedule idols would faint on stage from fatigue. What more are the current young idols when they're overworked more than ever

I relate to falling out of love with ones ‘faves’/ults’ or groups we used to enjoy so much, but at the end of the day, what’s most important it’s their music and how it connects with us. We shouldn’t force ourselves to continue to listen and consume music we might not enjoy anymore out of a sense of duty. As long as we’re not thereafter hateful, I think that’s just a normal part of being a human, and more simply just someone who actively listens to and likes music.

imo i think the issue is beyond the girls' fault but moreso jype. jyp himself isn't the greatest person but as a producer he's talented and he's made hits for twice, i've noticed that many popular twice songs have that "true" kpop feel; especially songs produced by him and the less popular twice title tracks are usually the ones from western producers or with a more western approach. i've also noticed songs written by the girls themselves do better on average than the other b-sides, especially post-renewal twice. like chaeyoung's been killing it with basics and rush, all of misamo is great but especially the songs they wrote and jeongyeon with bloom was also phenomenal. i think jyp needs to back off with the westernised approach for twice because that's never been their thing and give them better promotion instead of debuting more and more girl groups.

With Twice, there’s two things I WISH they would do that just won’t happen atp: 1. Drop the damn retro sound, I’m SERIOUS. Retro songs are good and I enjoyed One Spark and SMF (esp their live performances), but they can do more. 2. PLEASE let other members sing. Nayeon and Jihyo literally have solo careers now, we do not need them to sing 70% of every song no matter how great their voices are. Mina, Jeongyeon, and Tzuyu can kill a lot of a vocal gaps if you reduce their lines to that of… NORMAL main/lead vocalists. Let an album have another member rank first in its distribution, let us hear someone elses voice in the group because genuinely since renewal even with solo activities (like Dahyuns acting or Misamo), it very much so still feels like there’s a certain two members the company cares about MUCH more than the other 7.

what retro are you talking about?? TWICE is the definition of POP sound, they were POP since beginning (with only language being Japanese or korean)... No group has ever been as consistent as TWICE, they have defined their own genre - Korean Dance music.

Agreed with Jeongyeon but not sure about the rest... 3mix are the only true singers in the group, Tzuyu is stable sure but her voice is too soft for a lot of Nayeon and Jihyo parts (same with Mina but my problem with her is not liking her voice either) so wanting more variety in lime distribution is just impossible and I doubt the girls would want it. And no the company and jyp care about all the Twice members (jyp as a person seems to care about all the ggs on a personal level and it shows woth how all of them including the disbanded ones still like him a lot) it's the members that choose their career trajectory, Jeongyeon has expressed not wanting a solo career (in singing at least) potentially ever and Dahyun wants to go the actress route, even acted in YoungK's mv, and realistically she does not have soloist potential, same for misamo that chose the unit route, Tzuyu and Chaeyoung have not decided what to do and I don't doubt they'd be immediately supported in what they choose. Nayeon and Jihyo are simply the most talented and with the most drive to succeed in the idol industry and that's out of the company's hands.

Their line distributions are not that bad after I can’t stop me. Jihyo is the only main vocal, nayeon is the center, it’s normal for them to get the most lines every comeback. People have complaints when main vocals don’t get the most lines like Ning Ning. It makes sense to want jeongyeon to have more lines, but the other girls struggle to sing live. J and n had to take over icsm because the other girls cant hit those notes and jeongyeon wasn’t there. Momo is my favorite member but I know she can’t deliver vocally, so I wouldn’t want her to get more lines than she can handle. One spark also isn’t retro

I think I have to disagree here because the mixing of their vocal layering is not good in the sense that the vocals aren't properly integrated into the instrumental. So much of the vocal delivery sounds muffled and damp imo.

To be honest, Lessarafim have never struck me as an authentic Kpop group. I always felt that HYBE was very intent on pushing this “we’re different from the other girl groups” narrative but the group didn’t do anything to actually counterfeit this narrative. They’re creative direction (to me at least) has always seemed like an amalgamation of different groups. I can see Gidle, Aespa, Blackpink, and Ive influence in all of their creative works. I had a feeling HYBE was going to trip over themselves at some point and struggle to upkeep the groups musical/creative direction.

For me it's BLACKPINK. There's a lot of groups I used to like and then I just don't listen to anymore. But BLACKPINK is one where I was a big fan but actively dislike now. From the mediocre to terrible music to the regression of skills, to the lack of any substance. They make it hard to support them.

Blackpink just makes me sad in the sense that I personally like most of their music, but there’s just not enough of it. And the many clips of Lisa carrying the group performance/stage presence wise don’t help. But the main thing is it’s very difficult to stan a group who only release music every 2 years if you’re lucky. They’re basically 4 models and brand ambassadors who sing and dance once in a while. I definitely don’t actively dislike them but it’s nearly impossible to say I support them as a group when they’re not active as one

​@@Emma-xm9gb all the girls are working on music now that they're free from YG with Jennie releasing music and Lisa is coming soon besides Rosé and even Jisoo that surprisingly won't just transition to acting and wants to continue being an idol, I think 2024 onwards will be the best time to be a Blink besides 2016/whatever your favourite eras were with the variety/yt shows. They're all just so much more active from work to being on tv and yt variety shows, if there's any time to come back to the fandom it's now and anyone still using "they're just models blablabla" at this point in time is just a straight up blind hater. As for the group activities part, besides the many problems with how yg treated them from little to no releases and using them to cover up scandals, it's normal at this point in a group's career to release less together with the exceptions of BTS, Twice and SVT but they will come back, they're genuinely working on a normal kpop group's schedule now.

I agree with you on Easy not sounding "genuine or comfortable" for LSF. I tried to listen to it or watch them perform it, but it always looks/sounds awkward to me. That feeling cemented when I watched someone's dance cover, and I felt like they performed the song well. I'm not an active fan of LSF but have enjoyed some of their previous songs.

Exactly, their b-sides are consistently good with a certain signature style that no one else in kpop has right now, but they still keep it interesting by changing their style up for each title track! The change with titles is expected too, which I always thinks works much better than changing out of the blue (think red velvet, ive, etc.)

I absolutely believe that they all need to improve their vocals, but this is because I care about them as a fan, not because I want to humiliate them or compare them to other groups. I won't ever understand how you can be so upset over someone's vocal abilities that you send them such threats. There have been kpop idols that committed literal crimes, and even they didn't experience half of what Le Sserafim experienced within the past four months. Lia from Itzy was literally diagnosed with anxiety disorder because of the hate she got. Kpop fans should learn from history, so that (or worse) doesn't happen to any idol

I'm kind of surprised how much you and some people in the comments dislike 5-Star and Rock-Star, I think they're amazing. Especially the b sides. Topline, Hall of Fame, and Cover Me are all top 10 favorite skz b sides for me, maybe Megaverse as well. But, I am a new stay and those are the albums that got me into them, so it makes sense that they're near the top for me. I get why some people who have been fans of them longer wouldn't feel the same. While I disagree with you about the quality of their music going down because I personally think it hasn't, I do agree that they should take more time between releases. They seemed overworked to me in 2023 and I'm really glad they got that long break at the beginning of this year. Seems like I'm the odd one out, 5-member Billlie didn't reduce my enjoyment of them at all. I was a little worried at first, but Haram, Tsuki, Sheon, Siyoon and Haruna really stepped up to fill the gaps left by Moon Sua and Suhyeon. I think they will be all the better for it too, since their experience levels are more even now. Their Japanese title track from that era, 'DOMINO ~ butterfly effect', is my 2nd favorite after 'RING ma Bell'. I'd still put B-sides like 'the eleventh day', 'nevertheless', 'a sign ~ anonymous' and 'overlap (1/1)' before it though.

Twice is interesting because I’ve only just gotten into them and I don’t really like their old music as much as their new ones. Idk why though. I usually only pay attention to groups that stay together for a long time because their discographies are more developed. It’s the same thing with me and SNSD. I love their older music more than I love Twice’s but their songs post 2014 AND ESPECIALLY THEIR 2022 album have most of my favorite songs. lol for the most part I don’t pay attention to newer groups until they prove to me that they are gonna stay together because I’m not gonna waste my time. The problem with Le Sserafim (besides their vocal abilities "scandals") is that they don't really have a proper group and musical identity and their FEARLESS mature concept doesn't fit with Eunchae imo who is more bubbly and obviously younger. The songs don't fit the members' capacity and vocal range either. Their debut album was indeed flawless, but their recent releases aren't as impactful (except for the ones who managed to surpass the titles 'Smart' and 'Eve Psyche...' that should have been the title imo). They were a promising gg with a great start (Garam "scandal" aside), but I feel like I can't expect anything more from them, they don't have much more to offer, they're trynna follow the trends but as you said in a caricature manner, they lack this special involvement and link with the music they propose, it kinda feel like anyone could be Lesserafim if you replace the members. The songs aren't bad but it feels impersonal, it kinda lacks depth and experience.

Billlie have way more range than most Kpop artists weird how you focused in on 3 songs that sound similar when on every album they have songs that sound different e.g. RINGXRING, Mcguffins - Who's The Joker?, Ring Ma Bell (What A Wonderful World), Lion Heart (The Real Me), Patbingsu, Starry Night, Highway Romance, Moon Palace, DOMINO - Butterfly Effect. i started stray kids in this year and listened the majority of their discography and... yes, actually lacks with some of this points that you showed. and i can add the fact they look like they've stuck in the same sound/process. after s-class (i think), their eps and singles become more and more repetitive, especially the lyrics. if stray kids could explore more others subjects than "love" and "power" on the same level they're doing with genres, that could be amazing!! idk i think they're comfortable and need a pause to have a creative process more healthy, but they deal this with some reluctance...

I think that when it comes the Billlie, them barely releasing new music for the last year also can play a part on why you are not as invested on them now... I mean, you said you didn't like Eunoia's b-sides that much, and since then (also because of their Sua and Suhyeon situation) they have pretty much only done a single album and a japanese debut where all the b-sides were japanese versions of already existing songs, so there's barely any new music to judge them for after Eunoia's mini album. Now that they are 7 again, it seems like they will do some touring, and hopefully they next comeback after that will be at least a new mini album where they go harder on investment, this last year for Billlie has been pretty weird as a whole.

I completely agree about Twice, Skz, and I could even add Itzy, they were 3 JYP groups I was enjoying a lot in the years 2019-2022s, but at some point for the 3 of them, their music wasn't appealing to me anymore. It lacked impact, evolution, growth, originality, quality, or just cohesion, I can't enjoy their new titles and albums. They're not catching up with the trends or setting new ones. I barely or don't hear at all about their new releases, and when I do listen to them, they're not memorable, they're not necessarily bad, but they're really forgettable and not to my liking anymore. Competition is tough, some old and new groups with fresh concepts and comebacks, with high-quality sounds, versatility and talents are arriving or surpassing themselves, so repetitive styles with way too many releases can easily get lame. These 3 groups had so much potential to keep leading their generation but unfortunately probably reached their peak already

I'm a stay, fearnot and kinda of a once too so you imagine that... i actually agree with you. For SKZ, i think their taste is not stable, i always love their title tracks (sans LALALALA and Side Effects), but the albums after NOEASY are not my tea... they are just not that interesting. I love the S-Class album tho, but it would be better as an EP. For Le Sserafim, i think their 2023's album was a mess (no pun intended) too, such a playlist album, it didn't seemed like they tried to do an album, just thought "what we need as bsides for an album? EDM check, ballad song check, latin music check, a taylor swift imitation since she is trending check, oh and a funky music cause why not". I think all their releases are this way, trying to cover a lot of different fields, but on this album it really didn't matched at all. For TWICE, they clearly are so worried about being successful internationally and please western audiences (which is right for them) that i don't think they think too much about their imagine anymore, just go on the easy route. The new stray kids' song seemed like it, but it is good tho, just like twice also had good songs from 2023 and 24.

i’ve grown away from k-pop recently and i adored lsfm and was so excited to see what they’d do after the first trilogy but i was disappointed. i was really drawn in by their concept and idk it didn’t really carry over and the music itself was a little lackluster. there are also other reasons i’ve grown away from the group, specific to members in terms of twice i still enjoy their music so i don’t have a huge problem. it still feels twice to me i really hope we get to see the members work on more songs

Personally, I think that K-Pop Boy Groups in particular often share a similar Problem: They tend to repeat the same Theme over and over, especially in their Title Track. You can only sing about how great you are and keep it exiting for a limited Amount of Times in a certain Time Span, especially if you only release Music infrequently. Especially with MCND, I don't really get the Feeling that they've gone anywhere really, their Music has softened a bit, but it still sounds like something they could have done already when they debuted imo. With Stray Kids, it's similar, but it's not like they didn't evolve, but it feels like only certain Aspects evolved. Especially in Terms of the overall Vibe of the Songs I more or more get the Feeling that they feel obligated to bring a "noisy" Title Track and while Production-wise they certainly feeling bigger and more exiting, the Lyrics don't. NMIXX' O.O's Lyrics got bashed a lot, but it's not like SKZ' current Lyrics are much better. "Burst your eardrums bang bang head banging with soaking wet Hair"? "Inhale, C'mon, breathe Oxygen, gotta move fast that Body, Guitar, Base, Drums, paint your Nails pitch black"? "Yeah we tick tock boom Chiquita"? (What does Baby Monster have to do with this?) Like you are not telling me those are good Lyrics.

I'm here to tell you that SKZ lyrics are great and are better than NMIXX's O.O lyrics (still love NMIXX). Maybe you don't understand them, but that's ok, not everyone will get it. And you'll probably say "If people don't understand then they aren't good lyrics", but if there's only a minority who don't understand will the majority understand the lyrics, then they are still good lyrics. i dont like the way kpop rushes these groups out anymore back in the earlier days it seemed more focused and dedicated to putting out well rounded singers rather than wannabe instagram or youtube influencers or dancers or idols who can only sing shouldnt be in group of idols who can dance well and so on. imho theres too much of it of a younger age for me to really care so much about every group or every piece of drama they have. there should be nice break from trends too i get its popular these days but idfk i just want some simplicity and variation in todays music as there was back in the good ole days before tiktok got ahold of music. i wish kpop wouldve learnt that less is more and that it is ok to debut them at maturer age range rather than just aiming for younger idols only to debut bc theres hardly anyone my age doing kpop so its like less appealling aside from what i like which isnt much nowadays. im also not on tiktok so therefore less likely to always care about choreographed routines all the time. sure i like the odd one or to choreographies but it dont mean im going to do them and post them lol. i also wish kpop was more than the looks or body statures of the idols. obvi the groups are going to have that one popular member or the one very rich member. but they should all equally have enough talent to stand out individually than always as a group or unit. it like current idols dont have enough personality really for me to trult be attached to them and maybe its my age but i kinda just want to freely enjoy these groups for their songs, i dont always want to care about what they post online either. i kinda wish social media hadnt been invented bc so much junk about kpop groups and idols does more harm than good esp if one member stand out more than the others and so on.

I haven’t really unstanned anyone but there are groups I used to like more and they have more moved down my list than off it while others moved up. I don’t think I ever liked much from Stray Kids since No Easy and I too didn’t like their most recent title tracks but I do think they just opted for a direction I don’t like. The Fifty Fifty and MCND company issues are spot on. I find a lot of groups just seem to be churning out the New Jeans formula-which I totally know some people vibe with but it’s just not my thing. I really want New Jeans to explore way outside their box because I feel like they’ve got more than the current tracks which just meld into one giant song.
