This is an unusually delicious dish - due to the simple fact that it uses canned tuna fish .Don’t let the ingredient deter you because of tuna which is heavenly.
Ingredients:
Tuna Fish-2(here i have used 2)
cardomon & other biriyani spices
biriyani rice-250 grams
carrot-1/2
beans-2
green chilli-2
Dried coriander puthina leaf-1
Red onion -2 big
cashewnut-as needed
Butter-as needed
Oil-as needed
pepper-1 tsp
garam malasa-1 tablespoon
turmeric-1 tsp
salt-1tsp
garlic &ginger paste- as needed
Method:
Saute the vegetables with little red onions which are cut into long pieces and keep aside.
Tin fish gravy making:
Make tin fish gravy using onions which must be sauted to light brown then add green chilli,pepper,garam masala,ginger garlic paste , salt ,water & finally tin fish as mild gravy.cook for 10 minutes and keep aside.
Saute the Cashew nuts and biriyani spices and keep aside.
Biriyani rice making:
Now take the biriyani rice and put it into a vessel with butter and spices and fry for about 5 -7 minutes (this is done so that the rice cooks well in water and doesn't become soggy) until the rice is hot and hard.
Now boil it in double the cup of hot water as that of rice(IF RICE IS 3 CUPS USE 6 CUPS OF HOT WATER ) add biriyani spices to it and let it cook for 30 minutes .
After a while add salt when its half cooked and , cook further, towards the end remove the lid and put a hard cotton cloth on top and place the lid and cook for 10 minutes so that the rice cooks very well leaving no water behind.
Dum biriyani making:
Now we need to mix the rice and gravy together in a 25:50 ratio.Start with little butter at the bottom of a vessel with little tin fish gravy .
Further add rice, spices and fish on top of each other.Making sure that the fish gravy mingles with all layers of rice.
ON top garnish with the onions , cashew nuts and spices we had cooked earlier and kept aside.
At the end make a hole at the centre and apply some butter into the mid portion and close the lid and let it cook in dum style for 5 minutes in low flame .
Now your tin fish biriyani is ready.Serve the hot biriyani with vegetable raita salad , pappodom & pickle Enjoy this delicious tin fish biriyani .
It is delicious when served with yogurt salad ,Pickle & pappadom. A must try dish for biriyani lovers.
