What are your thoughts about a dab of sealer on the hex screws (especially the inside ones)? BTW on an inside miter do you ever recommend placing a piece of alum. flashing in the fascia corner as a backup leak guard before installing the miter? Tks. Great vids!

100%, great eye, should have mentioned that, YES place sealer on all 4 screws, ONLY on the inside!!!!!!!! No need for the flashing before the drip edge should be enough. If you ever get a leak from the back you could seal the back of the miter to the flashing by running a bead of sealer across the top back edge of the miter, eliminates instantly.

Also the fold on the back of the gutter makes it too thick to go underneath the drip edge; should I use my crimping tool to crimp it together more or just force it underneath the drip edge?

I just happened upon this video early afternoon. You saved me a TON of time and material! I bought the Spectral Metals K5 gutters and their convoluted way of fastening miters to gutter straights would've meant a lot of measurements doing this solo. Now I have a lot of joint connectors going back for refund...a MUCH better looking gutter on my cedar patio cover and done in half the time. THANK YOU for creating a fast, no-nonsense video that's so easy to understand.

NO, Just like in the video the gutter for an "outside box miter" the gutter will go to the end of the fascia!!

Nice job! There are many YT vids that are somewhat convoluted, but I love your attention to detail and how you clearly explain things. I’m currently doing a job where whoever installed the original gutters cut 45’s and connected them with a strip. That’s not fitting well at all, so I think I’m going to cut the gutters at the end of the fascia board and just install that outside box miter. Thanks for your help! I’m hoping my Bosch multi-purpose tool cuts these aluminum gutters fairly easy...

I have gaskets installed on my gutters, one is loose and leaking. Would you recommend switching them out and just using sealant instead?

Hey! I didn’t realize that my other gutter was 5” & the one I just painted was 4” can I still get them to fit together. The 4” is only 10’ & runs along an area that don’t want it being big.

I have a question for you. I have a strip miter already up that is leaking. The original builders did a poor job of installing them. Could I remove those and switch over to a box miter? If so, would I have to cut back some of the existing gutter or just leave as is? Any advice would help as the original installation was a crapy job.....

I'm replacing a corner miter on an aluminum gutter originally installed in the 60s. The corner miter I bought from Home Depot is a lot thinner guage aluminum and doesn't really match up with the gutter ends. Any suggestions ?

I am a strip miter guy lol I personally think they are easier. BTW, you bent the box miter on the front lol

Agree strip Miters are much easier that’s all we install for outside Miters. Installed this for the video. We install Extreme Miters for ALL inside corners. Give the customer the choice strip miter or extreme miter they ALWAYS choose an extreme miter for inside corners👍 gutteredge.com/products/extreme-miter

what i dont like is when the two pieces dont mate just right and there is a sloppy gap in the overlayed parts that i then have to caulk...

They should always connect for a seamless look. If not what needs to be done is the recommended hangers should be placed a foot or two before the seam and at the seam on both sides on the adjoining prices of gutter guard so the guard can sit on the hangers for better, seamless alignment👍

@@Everythinggutter I appreciate your reply and I've done all that you are saying ... But the corner pieces still don't fit together nicely with the long gutter. There is 1/8" gap and it looks sloppy

That’s actually not true. I will make a video on this😊. What you need to do is cut the gutter guard on a 45 basically follow the whole pattern, the holes on the gutter guard are on the 45 that’s needed. Either in or out 45 degree angle whatever type corner. The one 45 you will leave a flange so it fits perfect for a seamless looking connection. If you are a professional you should understand the upper lingo. If not no worries stay posted video demonstration coming 👍
