@@anthonyhernandez1953 Wrong! The EK9 has an entirely different chasis than any other EK/EJ Civic. Its chassis is seam welded rather than spot welded like normal Civics are, and it has several reinforcement pieces welded into different points of the chassis and body, also EK9 have no sound deadning material anywhere lo be lighter. I worked at a Honda Dealership, I know what I'm talking about!
@mzondi1970

Yes it is but remember this car was built by a factory that specialized in economy cars and family sedans. So it was a great factory build and they built it for the technology that was available 22 years ago. If the nanny rules were put aside they could build another lightweight civic and get rid of all the crap, sound deadening, heavy glass etc etc. Honda has the capability to do it but it would not be profitable. And to me while it is great the new type R is a heavy techno turbo charged mess.
@anthonyhernandez1953
@anthonyhernandez1953 4 жыл бұрын
Carlos Almeida minor differences, nothing major , weight reduction is always possible, type r’s are always hyped , end of the day American spec civics are still light weight and are fwd, the engine from the type r and American spec is not a huge difference, the way they built this motor is better than a k20a R , except I would’ve gone with a k20z1 head instead
@anthonyhernandez1953
@anthonyhernandez1953 4 жыл бұрын
RICKY his money , his car, he could do whatever he wants to it , yeah cus those are hard to come by here in the states , and the real ones are rhd, drive thru a pain in the ass, anything type R is overpriced , the ONLY type R engine that is actually hella worth it , is the fd2 k20a , only because it makes the most power out of any type r engine n/a , and I heard it’s factory ported but don’t quote me on it though,

Thank you for keeping the build NA. I'm an old-school Honda head. My friends and I were modifying Hondas back in the early 2000s before everyone was obsessed with turbocharged, AWD drag Hondas. With Honda's rich racing history on road courses, I've never understood the infatuation with making high-HP turbocharged straight line Hondas. It seems so counter intuitive to me. Cars like the DC2 ITR and EK9 were iconic for their high-revving high compression NA motors. and their equally impressive track performance. NA is the only way for me when it comes to Honda. They make great NA motors, why mess with that. With the exception of the FK9 of course

A shop press makes quick work of those bushings. If you anticipate doing anything beyond basic maintenance on vehicles, mowers, bikes, etc. a shop press is a good idea. The best time-saving and frustration-saving tool I have in my shop is a 20t press. Second best is a MIG welder.

I haven't even finished the video, but this series, this channel is the best car channel on KZbin. The attention to detail not just in the car but the cinematography is just incredible. You make me want to buy an EP3 again and enjoy Honda's for what they are like you have with yours. This channel just deserves more attention

I'm sure you're excited to enjoy the fruits of your hard earned labors in both fields of cinematography and mechanical conversion of this vehicle. Thank you for sharing. Now show us some time slips when you get them. Best of luck to you both out there.

When removing inner races stuck to hubs, easiest route I have found is get a baby cut off wheel on a dremel, make a cut into the race perpendicularly (up and down vs sideways), then take a cold chisel and smack it a couple times. Since the race is hardened, it can't stretch at all, so the force will propagate through the cut you put in the race, and will crack all the way through the race. No need for a big cutoff wheel, torches or anything that hardcore. Just cut a nick, give it a whack and pull it off with your hand.

I think in another video he mentions he’s about 2 hours from Richmond, so that could be close! I’m in Southwest Virginia near Bristol, and there are plenty of fun roads down here, especially since we’re a lot less populated. 😁

Honda’s get a bad rep because people usually don’t have the money to mod them properly. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen riced out civics with obnoxious fart cans and rust holes everywhere lol

@@Oemg35 you can get a used c5 z06, even a c6 z06 used for wtf this guy put into his car lol. So no... fuck that. I've put so many mods into my prelude (euro r engine, skunk2 catback, 70mm throttle body, intake manifold, megan headers on a p28 chipped ecu tuned) I still wouldnt put all that money into the lude I'd just get a much faster car stock. Is why I bought a used HR 350z, which btw is faster than a k20 swapped honda lol.
