Excellent runthrough as always. One quick note- I'm guessing those elevations are in meters, not in feet. 6000 feet is not very high.

Excellent video. One remark: at 2:42 when the climber dies, he is removed from the board but SCORES 1 VP , as stated at pag 8 of the rules

"K2 is kind of a like, a very family-friendly gateway game" 1 min later "... one or both of your teams could DIE, could literally freeze to death" Haha. Well, Monopoly is soul-crushing too.

Wouldn't it be VERY easy to add one small extra rule, to alter the biggest minus you have against this game? Talking about the "Suicidal last day" tactic(You did alter some rules f.ex. in Puerto Rico...) Adding the rule: YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO GET BACK ALIVE =When last weather card comes to use, shuffle the used weather cards and continue adding future weather cards as normal. Race for gaining points ends when the last day in the last unused weather card is over, but your teams has to make it back to 6000 meters alive, to actually score those points achieved. That way you would have to also plan down climbing, and make decisions if teams are able to push it all the way to top or not AND make it back alive, giving more realistic feel and adding more "cliffhangers", as the teams are most likely near death all the way down to the safe zone. If it that way gets too difficult to ever reach the top, maybe all the teams could start the game with f.ex. 2 or 3 acclimatization points. (I don't know, haven't played the game yet )

I really like how the game ramps up as we ascend, with the first elevation band/go-through of your deck a good intro for new players we're introducing the game to. I've never seen anyone lose the game in the first section. We've had good luck using this as a gateway game with friends, interested in the expansions.

Is there a specific reason why you didn't play your 2-2-1 movement first turn instead of the 1-1-2?

annotation at 29:40 is incorrect. Richard actually did switch first player token at 27:50, and Jen is first player. :)

Why does the purple piece's aclimitization have to fall back down to 6 at the end of the turn? 30:30

can't help you there... the video is very old and to be able to reply to you on that would have to watch it all again and read the rules. Sorry

Per the rules, at end of turn you can only have a maximum of 6

Can you tell me the timestamp when you see the tile so I can check the altitude... at that time I can't see it clearly... Thanks

The Weather tiles only affect 6000+ ever so he's perfectly fine there.

I thought acclimatization was necessary due to altitude, not cold weather? I've never climbed a mountain, though. Edit: After watching the rest of the video I see in the game at least it is definitely related to weather and such as well.

Mike Mannis Cold weather drops the barometric pressure ... which you need to breath enough air in to your body. Bad weather is dangerous not only on the freezing side but on the health state your body is, to manage the exercise to move. At really high altitudes this can became a killer.

This game reminds me of the Victory Point game Disaster on Everest(there's also a Disaster on K-2)...does anyone know if there's relation between the two?
