If I ever found one that actually made a difference I would sell it, but so far they are only good for the people selling them. I do think that the free V1 golf app is one of the best options out there. As you can actually see what you are doing in your swing, or my members can send it to me for my analysis. It is simple and saves people from wasting a lot of time.

Hi Kirk, I've been playing as a +4 index for a couple years, I think you hit the nail on the head and it's kinda what I teach now. I teach 3 things: 1. Do you feel athletic and comfortable, 2. Can you get to your impact position that you feel strongest at, and 3. Are you nice and balanced and not feel like it's a lot of effort. I'm doing better avoiding rigid teachings and sticking with comfortable athletic golf, unique swings belong to unique people and that's okay.

Your swing concept is aligned to what I settled on 15 years ago. Single plane made since, but I could never get comfortable with the ridged stance, etc. So, developed my "blended" single plane swing. That and Lee Trevino alignment tip of "Aim Left, Swing Right, Walk Straight" cure my slice.

Kirk, I appreciate your approach to teaching the single plane swing. I am 75 and I've had three back surgeries, the last one was a fusion of the whole spine from the thoraciac vertebrae thru the lumbar vertabrae. Believe it or not I am able to swing the golf club and make decent contact using the single plane technique. One thing I focus on is the takeaway which requires I let the rotation about the spine take the club away straight along the correct plane and return it to the correct contact hitting position. Also the fact you don't stress that the feet be so far apart and the trailing foot can come up at the end of the swing makes a great difference. Thanks for the tips. Dave

Amen brother. I can't stand the hard core Moe swing. It simply looks dumb. Reaching so far out and trailing foot planted through impact made it hard to swing in my brief experiment with it. Your swing looks more like Steve Stricker. In another of your videos you mentioned that it is ok to gradually elevate your hands at address and in time elevate it more as you show here. That is where I am at. Slightly elevating my hands has made a world of difference along with strengthening my left grip. Oh yes....and making sure I take the club back w/o breaking my wrist for the first 12 inches has helped. I've been too handsy over the years. Thanks for all the good tips.

Instead of drills. Have them focus on feels and watching what the club face does at a slower motion. This is when I developed a real sense of what I was trying to do with the club. I'm very athletic now with my swing, it's also shorter looking, but man is it accurate and consistent. I always have people asking me for tips and I always tell them to stop thinking about me, and start thinking about the goal with your club and body parts.
@Setup4Impact2 жыл бұрын
Drills are a way to practice moving the club properly through impact. Slow is the best way which is why my drills are done as slowly as possible. They work wonders when done properly.

I like the idea of the non-rotational trail hand potentially increasing the quality and consistency of impact, but I have difficulty (frankly, it's more mental than physical) rotating my body. I tend to revert to an arm swing. Would a conventional rotation drill like Pete Cowen's "Spiral Staircase" be compatible with your method?
@Setup4Impact4 жыл бұрын
That is the same rotation as I teach just explained differently. I really like that explanation. My drills teach you how to turn and get into a good hitting position before impact.

Tried Graves method and Kirk's method. Kirk explains the differences very well here. Graves admits that there is a limitation and that is his goal.
@Setup4Impact3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately with Graves limiting turning into impact, people lose distance, and accuracy as they cannot get the hands leading through impact without turning. Many also get injured in the process.

The grip is the key. I had a grip where the right hand is weak and the left hand is strong and i kept flipping the club with a low hook. I have weakened left hand and strengthened right and it feel like magic just happened at the ball and i finally stopped flipping the club so much. I think this is what moe figured out, he just went a bit ott with everything.

Hi Kirk, I have a question regarding raising the hands at setup. Is there a danger here of having the club sitting on the toe? Does that negatively affect the impact i.e. the ball goes right? Thanks so much for the videos. You're my favourite single swing plane YT coach so far as you take a much more individualised approach.
@Setup4Impact4 жыл бұрын
If the clubs fit you now then they will fit you with this as long as you keep the same distance from the ball at setup. So impact conventionally and with Setup 4 Impact you will be in the same position. I just have you setup with the club in that impact position.

Love this video. I've been trying to copy Moe using Todd's videos for awhile now and I've had some success but I feel like I've just gotten worse the more I try to exactly copy him. I have a question for you, Kirk. My irons are fit to me according to the Graves Golf free online club fitting (it didn't affect the length of my irons but my lie angle changed). I'm wondering if I need to change the lie angle again back to standard for the S4I swing? Thanks so much!
@Setup4Impact3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan, The same thing happens to a lot of people. The more you try copying Moe the worse your game will get. He had the most unnatural and unorthodox swing ever. If you find the distance from the ball that works best for you and let your body move naturally then you get the lie angles checked and adjusted to fit you if necessary. Most club repair shops can adjust lie angle.

@@Setup4Impact I'm one of those people. I started with you, and then I started watching Graves Golf, thinking it was like your approach. My first draw to them was their online club fitting which is working for me so far. And, I'm standing further from the ball at set-up, which seems to be helping. But, but my big draw to the single plane swing was the simplicity, and I started to realize that Graves Golf was really getting complicated. So, I'm back!!

Kirk, I need help buddy. I've been chasing Moe's swing for a year and got pretty close to quitting golf completely. I just can't maintain it. I've lost 2 clubs in distance and heading toward three clubs - was hitting an 8i 150 now between 6i and 5i. I'm 38, 6'0" 155lbs, athletic, and very kinestheticly aware, so it's blowing my mind that I can't figure this out. I've also had access to a GG coach and training aids so I have had help but still...no good man. I've gotten to playing a round of 90 but for sure I've got better game in the tank. When the wheels fall off my swing during a round they fall off COMPLETLY because it's really a house of cards I find - fragile too. Help!?

Hi Charles, For me Moe’s swing was far too unnatural and even after more than 10 years trying I never felt comfortable with it. So I figured out what works best for me and now hit the ball farther and straighter than ever. I have a lot of videos here on KZbin that explain parts of it, or you can get my whole system and my help at setup4impact.com/online/

Would you have to refit the golf clubs doing this instead of a more conventional type swing? Seems like the lie angle will change.
@Setup4Impact Жыл бұрын
The lie angle would be the same as long as your distance from the ball remains the same as before. I have people setup on their impact plane, but the impact plane remains the same. So the club needed is the same. That does not mean though that your clubs fit your existing impact.

Came across your golf videos on youtube by accident and started to watch. I had tried the Moe Norman swing before but it did not work for me with any consistency. It felt very awkward. Yesterday I tried to use what you are teaching for a single plane swing around my own swing and what a noticeable immediate difference! I was hitting the ball more solidly, it sounded and felt better off the club and most importantly it went straight and far. I am very impressed with your method Kirk. Tuesday I shot 100 with my swing or what I considered a swing. Yesterday I tried the concepts of your method for the first time and I shot an 89! It has been a long time since I have broken 90 on the course. I am convinced and you have a new convert to this method of achieving a single plane golf swing. Please let me know where you are putting on exhibitions of your ball striking perfection and I will gladly come and watch. I spend my time helping people all over the world improve at golf as quickly as possible. Many of them did try copying Moe for many years, even attending golf schools, and spending a lot of money, with the only results being that they got worse at golf, and many had aches, pains and injuries. I have no doubt that my method is far better for 99% of golfers if their goal is to play better golf as quickly as possible, and to hit the ball farther and straighter than they ever have before. It only took me around 20 years to figure out that copying Moe made me worse at golf. How long will it take other people? I hope not very long, and I am here to help those who seek it. If you are happy I am not sure why you felt the need to post here. Good luck in whatever you choose to do.
