Nearly 30 years ago, can you imagine that! Each one on this stage such gifts to the music 🌎 and much more. From Pete Kennedys, Mary Chapin Carpenter's temporary guitar player, Ms Carpenter herself, the late Nanci Griffith and the Indigo Girls. What decent human beings too. An evening to remember for 👍!!!

@leannedemmons7662 Жыл бұрын
My favorite recording ever was this episode of Austin City Limits. If you think about it, this was a gathering that makes you believe in the circles in the pond effects of life. This was Pete Kennedy’s last date with Mary Chapin while John Jennings was in the studio. Nanci Griffith had just lost her guitar player and asked Pete to be in the Blue Moon Orchestra because of hearing him on this show, which later led to Maura Kennedy (The Kennedys) being asked to sing with the band also. If these musicians fascinate you, you should read Pete Kennedy’s book, which includes Mary Chapin’s early days in DC.

I recognize your name from the Kennedys UTube shows. It is, and he is also on her Down at the Twist and Shout video, near the back of the stage and to your left as you watch the video. I went to see Pete and Maura the first time they came to my town after seeing him play with Mary Chapin. I got to see Nanci Griffith also, but it was before Pete and Maura were in her band.

Not sure, but I believe the red-headed guitar player may be Mr Pete Kennedy who would go on to tour with Ms Nanci Griffith. Pete was filling in for Mr. John Jennings at the time who was also producing Ms Carpenter. Their is so much talent and good human folk sitting in this round at this particular Austin City Limits. Not sure if it would be six degrees of separation from Ms Griffith or Mary Chapin Carpenter, but Nanci had about 5 yrs on her in age, but they came up in the business right around 14 and 16/18yrs of age respectively. They both had this perfection about them, consummate performers always traveling the world over on tours, and so many causes they supported. Past tense this week I am sad to say for Ms Griffith. The world lost another treasure this Aug. 13, '21. We really do need to celebrate the life and work of Ms Carpenter for sure some 4 decades out and counting still thankfully. Thank you Ken Kimbrough for ensuring these videos are around. This one is for the hx books. I am sure Mary Chapin would agree this weekend and for all time.
