I think the rex45 is my favorite steel, i have 2; native 5 lw and pm2. it seems to sharpen easier, easier to get a very nice edge on it. K390 is 2nd favorite, delica 4 k390 is my work knife, it's perfect for that. I only have the spyderco triangle and worksharp field sharpener to sharpen so i am somewhat limited in sharpening, the worksharp field sharpener is perfect to keep a nice edge on the k390 with its diamond plates compared to the ceramic on the triangle. I wish there was 15° option for the worksharp field sharpener but a 20\40° edge is just fine for my work knife.

Have you seen the DLC Rex45 in the Manix2 LW from GPKNIVES? It has Empirial Stormtrooper white FRCP handle material and black metal to match the blade. It also has screw assembly instead of being pinned. For about $144 before taxes and shipping. I had coated D2 and non-coated K390 rust or patina on me in a hot summer So I try to go towards the slightly more rust resistant tool steels and I use products like EDci or KPL Knife Protectant sprays. The Rex45 Manix2 LW is so nice I ended ordering a 2nd one.

I wish Spyderco would do more K390 models. i love my Stretch 2 (and I just bought a Para 3 in K390) but i REALLY want a Shaman in K390.

K390 beats rex45 in toughness, edge retention and coolness. It's like cruwear but leaning more towards edge retention than toughness, less stainless though.

Get well. Did you do the nose swab test? So what does Rex do better than k390? Bento box has done k390 pm2 and three tho they were HRC at or below 63. Does The upcoming mule in Rex T15 have your name on it? I’ll try for it, but I’ll pass on the K294 as that looks just like 10V. May pick up a spy 27 to get over the free shipping level.

Not really doing any of the mules they are too big for edc for me, didn’t do any testing I’m better now, I think Rex resists rust better than k390, but edge goes to k390 and they are close to each other for stropping but Rex 45 might have a slight edge there
