Video worked fine for me. Cool stuff Paul, I could see this being a very valuable tool for the shop. Cheers, Doug. Vancouver Island, Canada

One of my aplications is to be able to make geskets that actually fit!

That Nozzlehead upgrade and the added air-assist is really awesome ;) I think you're going to wish you did it sooner, as burnmarks, flames are very unlikely to happen now :D Great video, nice setup you've got Paul.

Fantastic video and project, mate. Would you mind telling me where I could plug the fan pwm wires from a 3d printer control board into the K40 power supply? I would like it so that when I enable the pwm of the fan output the laser fires at the predetermined intensity. Thanks a ton in advance

how did you get the controller to control the air assist?

Is your window upgraded also? It doesn't seem like standard plexiglass and much much more clear than the orange window my K40 came with. Looks like the same coating as my safety glasses. If so could you please provide a link for where you got it? VERY nice upgrades by the way.

Hi Paul ! Very interesting project - did you make a review of this ... I want to see more, much more ;-))
@EVguru6 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of reviews of these generic 'K40' or 'KH3020' engravers/cutters on KZbin. Very briefly though; Complete junk, treat as a kit of parts assembled for ease of transport. Good value if you get one cheap enough.

Ok - thx ... I'll look on ebay

I think most people pronounce GRBL as gerbil. I certainly do :) The beam leaving the nozzle is very bright. Is that oil vapour from the compressor?

The XY frame is in its original position. The only alteration I made was to adjust it square.

Hi Paul, could I ask where you got that replacement laser head from please - was it a UK supplier or somewhere from Aliexpress? I can see very similar ones, but without the two additional screws at the end. I'd like to make a similar upgrade.
@EVguru6 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure I bough it from ebay. I added the two black screws to retain the main body independently from the mirror mounting.

Thanks Paul, I'll have a look and see if I can find it on there.

Great video. Where did you get the air assist top plate and holder?
@EVguru5 жыл бұрын
Random supplier via ebay. There are lots of sources if youe search for them.
@twistedendingsproductions27825 жыл бұрын
@@EVguru Ooooook, but what are the search terms for the actual part you found? I liked the concept.
@EVguru5 жыл бұрын
You know, it was quite some time ago, so I don't remember the exact search. It probably involved 'K40', 'laser', 'air assist', 'head', 'mirror holder' etc. in various combinations.

Via the IEC power inlet as per normal practice.

Very interesting. I have the same hardware but am unable to make it work. could you send your config.h settings? Also how do you set position in web laser 4?

I'm afraid I don't have the files. I programmed the Arduino on a PC at work. The Laser cutter has been in storage for quite a while since I left work and I don't recall how I had it set up with Laserweb. I was working on getting it working directly from Fusion 360 CAM with the appropriate post-processor.

The new lens holder/air assist nozzle came of ebay, the cable chains via Banggood.

Any possibility you could assist in educating me on upgrading my laser head? I have I believe the same base machine and am needing to make some minor upgrades including the table and exhaust.. and perhaps the laser eye head. Currently too afraid to cut 1/2” acrylic since the exhaust is so poor.

These machines really don't have enough power for materials thicker than 6mm

Hi Paul. Do you know the size of the cable chain you used?
