What can I say? When I saw a Instagram post by Ka-Bar I knew i had to have this little beauty. In my opinion it is a great self defense/last ditch choice. The fact it has Ka-bar's stamp of approval just sealed the deal for me
Here is a link to Ka-Bar if you wish to purchase this blade

Thanks so much for making this video. I've been really excited for this model. I've had my eye on the original tdi, but for some reason I never jumped on it. When I saw this, I realized why that was. Oh btw, one thing I like to do when doing a cut test is 1. Paper towel cut. Only very sharp knives will cut it, and after stropping, I even use tissues. 2. Packing peanuts are great too! I love to make super thin slices with a laser edge after honing a blade. Just a thought. Can't wait for this delivery!

I like the knife. My big concern after seeing the review at Knifecenter was its verrrry positive retention: this knife wants to stay in the sheath. So far, I’ve been able to draw it from my pocket or waistband only once without bringing the sheath with it. That’s gonna diminish the utility of quick-deployment in times of stress! Yes, I will have no worries if I switch out that clip for something that allows inverted carry, but until then, it’s less useful to me than just about any of my pocket folders in terms of speed of deployment. NOT what one wants from a fixed blade of this design.

So I bought this knife and I really like it I like the style of the blade I’m not a huge talon style blade fan that’s normally on karambit knifes so that’s what really drew me to this knife I’m also a ka-bar fan but the sheath at first was awful the blade retention on it was so tight it was almost impossible to take out of the pocket without the sheath coming with it. You can see the two locking tabs on the side of the sheath and if you look inside the sheath they’re fairly big and really close together and the way they’re designed doesn’t really allow knifes to come back through easily. Simple fix though just take something that can’t fit in the little gaps where one of the tabs are and just bend it back some and it frees up the knife a lot more you still have good blade retention but can extract it much much easier.

I like the looks but I think it would be better if it was serrated. I tend to carry big knives an a push dagger in my waist. But I live in Baltimore so knives are one of our only options. CCP are not easy to get. I was pretty much trained that stabbing someone is not very defendable. It’s much easier to cut and get away. Not that a great lawyer can’t get someone off. I don’t have money for a bad lawyer let alone a good one. Anyway with slicing in mind I prefer a long blade. An intimidating always helps. Of course the same people told me not to stab also say a knife is to be felt never seen. So I guess intimidation is not good. Anyway my only thing I don’t like is the length of blade but then it wouldn’t be easy to carry. I guess if it goes down to $35 range I would get one but it’s not a $60 knife to me really the $25 le Duck knife would do the same thing.

@@Tctbnl I mean, I think AUS-8 is fine in a $29 CRKT M16-01KZ, but not in a $65 Ka-Bar. If it had their 1095 Cro-Van, I would be all over it, especially if I had an Armatus Carry sheath for it. I adore my BK14 with its Armatus sheath and TKC G10 scales, though that more than doubled the cost. 😆 However, a BK11 weighs 90 grams, a BK14 weighs 68 grams, and this TDI Pocket Strike weighs 181 grams, so maybe that's the reason that they went with the cheaper steel. This knife is CHONKY! It's also quite possible (actually probable imo) that Ka-Bar has a better heat treat than CRKT, so who knows. Hardly anyone uses 440C any more, especially with all the powder crucible steels these days, but I'll trust the Buck Knives 440C heat treat with my life. Not so much with the CRKT AUS-8 heat treat. I WILL say that if my CRKT M16-03KS (the frame lock variant) had a tip-up carry option, it would most certainly be in my EDC rotation. It's a sweet little flipper. Folders gotta be tip-up FOR ME. I have an awesome Protech auto that I never carry because it's tip-down. FeelsBadMan. Idk, it sucks because i WANT this sweet blade, but not in AUS-8. I will GLADLY pay $100+ if they offer it in 1095 Cro-Van.

@@Tctbnl you are welcome. I'd change that design but costs would go up. Instead of Aus 8 I'd go at minimum a 154 cm or cpm S35v. And plastic sheaths are bulky and suck. So , I'd design it with kydex. First responders deserve the best. Aus 8 chips and had virtually no edge retention. Plastic injected sheaths are terribly bulky. But people don't know cutlery.
