I'm glad I came across this video; I was so embarrassed for days when I fell off my Uberscoot 1600. I had accelerated onto the sidewalk which had a curb drop off. Off the side of the dropoff was fast traffic. I simply freaked out cause i had gone on the sidewalk too fast and the risk was very high if i went off that curb onto the street so I just panicked and flew off into the grass on the right side. Your video made me feel better to know falls do happen lol... Man was I shame lol. Luckily in spite of the speed it was the safest crash I've had off of a motor scooter (including my hoverboards those falls were nasty! Lol)... I had no scrapes no out of place joints or anything like that but my scooter basically busted like legos ( both my lights came off and the handlebar twisted out of place so i had to ride back real slow) I fixed it and after the shame wore off I'm back on fresh just a lot more careful lol.
@anttipeltola85784 жыл бұрын
I only ride on the road at dark. Pedestrian and cycleways can be treacherous at night because you cannot see any obstacles ahead at a braking distance and they aren't built for high speeds in mind.

4:11 the car tires scrape the crub and put a black line on the crub makeing you miss judge the ramp and the little gripper bumps are way too far to the left. Lesson learned slow down at night because if you hand a brighter light you'd probably still be going just as fast, or faster.

Sorry about your crash, I'm glad you're ok. But you most definitely need better light for night riding. And you should invest in some gloves as well. I noticed you weren't wearing any. I just had a crash myself a few weeks ago, and I was only doing 15 MPH, but it was still enough to cause me a sprained wrist, and some serious road rash and the pain that goes along with it. I was lucky, I was wearing my motorcycle gloves. They save my hands from injury. I was also wearing my full-face helmet. But I neglected to put on my other safety gear. I won't make that same mistake again.

im thinking in buying one of these "powerful" escooters... and this video/channel about mantis gives a more realistic idea of what it really is... and from what i see... as bikes and motorcycles not everything are roses... however i do notice that as these scooters give some serious speed... they do lack light... even with a flashlight you can barelly see the floor... it needs even more, specially for night rides with no illumination... in fact thats the reason you crashed... with more light you would see it in time and avoid the crash easily...

In the video it doesnt seem to bright , but maybe thats just what shows in the video ....Ive been told you need at least 600 to 700 Lumens as a minimum to see enough in front of you and to be safe , but Ive yet to ride at night but planning to soon ....I just need a good quality headlight ...
@for-real-tho2 жыл бұрын
Ouch! That's why I got myself a big 40 watt light. It is as bright as a car's headlight and cost me less than $20 on Aliexpress.
@meditationheathandwellness7813 жыл бұрын
You need to add about 10,000 more lumens of light. I would just buy two 5,000 lumen lights. The problem is you could not see because the area was not well lit and you did not have enough light to see
@zepp_013 жыл бұрын
I thought it was going to be the wet painted street lines that took you out. You crashed and the cop sitting at the light didn't even check on you. Geez. You need a much better light. You were riding way too fast for the current conditions, you might want to slow down those night rides on damp streets LOL. I'm glad you're ok, you could've been seriously hurt or worse if you hit something while airborne.
@aryafeydakin4 жыл бұрын
2x1000 lumens led headlights with high-end lens here. That's lighting gear used for mountain bike night rides. It is thumb remote controlled, and even by never going above 20 mph, I STILL find that's not quite enough for safely traveling unlit or dimly lit roads with an escooter. Might put two sets of front leds, one at handle bar height with long range narrow focus optics and one deck-height with extra-broad optics to highlight obstacles and nightly creatures. Can't imagine nightriding any sort of super escooter short of at least a 3000 lumen max brightiness front-light, I believe that's the staple brightness for bikes and mopeds.

Practice going up curbs by pulling up your front handlebars, pretty much like you'd do on a bike. I've saved myself a few times by last second jumping curbs I didn't see. Nice save though, damn. I've had to do the jog of shame after bailing off my shooter a few too many times for my liking, lol.

@Ray Be kind to others, it goes a long way Yes. Drivers are off their head, but when they haven't had the experience of a cyclist or scooter rider or even a motorcyclist, they don't know how to drive around us. I drive, but because I'm a cyclist etc, I know how to judge cyclists and how to behave around them, because I know they can feel me behind them as you hear the car tyres coming, so I relax and that relaxes them. Stay safe man and yes, my back is 90% better. I can't do pull ups properly yet, but getting there and I also have problems lifting things sometimes and feel it, but give it a year or two 😁

Dunno, I mean mistakes happen all the time, but when using the crosswalk area, you can clearly see the two lines go up to where the ramp is and you're way past those two lines....aside from that, I can see the curb clearly since it has rash on it from cars that have curbed it before.
