Laurence moved to Indiana in November of 2008. By 2014 he was eligible for citizenship but opted to not go for it until 2022 . . . just in time for his dad to see his son achieve his dreams before passing 😢

In my neighborhood we mostly have 3 car garages which basically means we can fill the one side with crap and then the two of us can still park in the garage. 😂

NYC is brilliant at Christmas time!

When I was a kid we put up Christmas lights around the house and then after the New Year before me and my sister went back to school we got voluntold to help our dad take down the lights. I don't like being cold, so help my dad was closer to punishment. Now I put a wreath on the door and any lights we do put up are inside. I told my husband a month ago that if I ever did put up Christmas lights, I'd put them up the day after Halloween, and take them down in May...just to avoid freezing.

The big NYC Christmas tree is at Rockefeller Center. I think Laurence has been in the USA for nearly 17 years at this point.

Citizenship allows you to vote and move anywhere you want without problems. A greencard requires the foreigner to be in the US most of the year plus it must be renewed every couple of years. The limitations of travel outside the US can be harsh to some people. Any foreigner with a US greencard cannot be out of the US for more than 180 days. If you are out of the US for more than 180 days, your greencard is revoked and you must leave the US. You must keep all your travel info and documents to prove the number of days out of the US. If do not keep these records, your greencard is revoked. You must also document all the places visited during each trip and explain the reason for each trip. The foreigner must prove everything.

Kabir, you noticed no stringing of the cheese! My dad asks for a new plaid flannel shirt every Christmas. We call the fabric flannel, but flannel means washcloth in the UK, I think. I bribe my SO with homemade lasagna to climb on the roof to hang SO MANY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS on the entire roofline- I handle the porch and the shrubs safely from the ground. We decorate outside with wreaths, garland, and about three thousand lights. And this year we had our first inflatable lawn decoration- a Christmas Corgi.

Yep...we have a bunch of lights outside. 6 trees inside.

I have to agree with the others saying that a very expensive, tourist-y and extremely crowded Christmas at NYC's Rockefeller center sounds like a nightmare and certainly not representative of the average U.S. citizen's Christmas experience.

when I was young I met Frank Baker, the inventor of string cheese, in Bayfield WI. he was on vacation. No clue at the time who he was... pure genius.

Lawrence has lived in America for over 14 years. String cheese here comes in a wide variety. I've had Colby Jack, Cheddar (mild, medium and sharp), Pepper Jack, and Mozzarella. I'm sure there's more. One thing you can count on in America, land of the thick, is variety when it comes to edible indulgences.

Hi Kabir, Il fait froid! For Christmas I just put lights along the eaves of the roof. There's a neighborhood called Interloching that people line up to drive through. Some truly spectacular displays.

On Manning Street in Yucaipa, California, EVERY house and tree is lighted and they're all controlled by a central computer that synchronizes the lights to music. There are numerous videos on KZbin taken from from street level and from drones

Lawrence is wrong. Plaid originated among the Ancient Celts. The Celts, who lived across Western Europe and Asia Minor, developed a cloth pattern similar to plaid.

I have modest Christmas decorations mostly in the house. I wear hiking boots pretty much every day. I just prefer them all year round. Used to eat the string cheese but not excessively. But, if T-shirt real cheese you could be eating worse things.

I just like a simple straight across set one color, usually it’s white or blue. Simplistic but can be quite striking when you compare it to other super bright and flashing lights of multiple colors.

Depends when and where people do hiking. How high are their boots? May prevent them from getting snake bites.Notice, I said “may”.

Kabir, I suggest that if you really want to be immersed in an American family Christmas, get close with a viewer from, say, New York, and maybe spend Christmas with them. Naturally make sure they will help you see the Tree in Rockerfeller Center and maybe the christmas show at Radio City Music Hall. They are amazing shows. Also, if they still go all out the windows at Macey's Department Store. If I still lived in New Jersey, I'd invite you, but I don't.

Christmas lights - there’s a tv channel that does both Halloween and Christmas lights judging. They award some big $$$$’s. Others just like decorating. My spouse did the visual lights up on the Gare Edge/garage [gear /gar edge] door for Christmas 2024.
@yugioht422 күн бұрын
No to New York as it’s just impossible to get to Rockefeller center during the holidays. Wall Street isn’t much better. And why, hotel rooms are ridiculously expensive during the holidays as Times Square hotels price up $900 for rooms and drop them right after new year’s. It ain’t worth it.

I think Lawrence’s problem with the shirt is that he’s tall and the arms were too short. He needs to shell out a couple bucks more and get a tall so the sleeves will be long enough for his arms.

The orange color in cheese is an additive called "Annato" which comes from the seeds of the achiote tree. The tree is native to tropical regions of Central and South America. "Orange Cheese" is VERY popular among the Hispanic population here in the US; HOWEVER, it is extremely disconcerting to see orange-colored Extra Sharp Vermont Cheddar. Sorry, but Cheddar should be White.

I live in a mobile home and not on a main road. I'm in a small country town my hometown. I don't have the money to have lights up - electric bill ^^^ heck no to that. Family tradition with me - My mom, me and my kids to go Waffle House on Christmas Eve morning or Christmas day morning . my grandma (she passed away 6-6-11) would take me so I wanted to do the same with my kiddos. Me and my mom take my kids to jailhouse pizza in Brandenburg Kentucky to eat and drive thru the christmas lights by the ohio river - every year. I never had a garage.

DONT GO TO NYC during the holidays!! its not a nice place. and not at the holiday to be sure. you will be stuck in traffic or riding on horrible subways. the crowds are beyond tolerable. and the crime and homless and freaks.. especially at big events is off the charts.. you CAN ignore it all to try and have fun but it would be a poor first trip to the USA im from the USA so please take my advice. NYC these days is no place to be. id google "where is the best Christmas celebrations in the USA?" and pick anyplace that isnt NYC, LA, or Chicago
