If you get both this and a concentric trainer like maxpro portable gym, you can train both eccentrics and concentrics like a normal cable pulley system but for 5 times the price
@steverapos3904
@steverapos3904 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe one day these flywheel training systems will come on more practical forms at reasonable prices - but for now a cable system is much more practical. The MAXPRO is almost there (except missing the eccentric and still over priced).
@ratchat123
@ratchat123 3 жыл бұрын
@@steverapos3904 if these become popular I suspect the price will drastically go down since the maxpro is like a rope start and similarly flywheels are used in all sorts of cheap machines, they can't be hard to mass produce once the companies get the design down and have good demand.

I think the Handy Gym is a better comparison. The only issue is it's noisy, but it's much more compact and portable, can be mounted in different positions and is significantly cheaper ($800-$1700).

I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the kzbin.infoUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

Flywheels like this are used primarily to build speed and power in a slightly safer way than with a bar. With the flywheel squat the harder you drive the harder it is where as with a barbell the harder you drive the easier it is with a reasonable weight. It allows you to exert more force than you could safely with a bar because the resistance changes with how much you put into the flywheel where as a bar is loaded to the weight it is loaded at and thats it. Flywheels do have their place for people who want to get the most power out of their bodies as they can if they want to use it and have the money to drop on these systems.
@Fondrom
@Fondrom 3 жыл бұрын
The amount of misinformed people is incredible, yes you DONT NEED flywheel trainers, but you DONT NEED basic cable systems, resistance machines, treadmills either. These things are a convenience to use. If I have a home gym, or personal training studio. Am I going to invest in a large chunky cable apparatus, or sets dumbbells and bars? I'm obviously going to go for the latter. Am I going to invest in a small, portable, research-driven peice of equipment that makes me stand out in my market? Yes! The science behind equipment like this is appealing, and it offers a different stimuli to the muscle than what you are generally used to.

I get you in theory but it's obviously more complex and expensive to produce than you'd think otherwise there would be cheaper versions available. There is a massive amount of energy that builds up in a fly wheel so any amount of unbalance could make it shake or break which would be very dangerous.

Coop, huge fan of the reviews. Figured I might give some input on the 3D printed parts. At the moment, the lead times for molding, materials, electronic components and essentially anything that revolves around manufacturing is extremely long. The process to mold or injection mold also takes a fair bit of time as it is not as cut and dry as sending a model and having it produced. Injection molding, even small components, will run thousands of dollars at minimum. Since this is a first iteration (and a whole new concept for the company), 3-D printing this sort of a part is the most efficient method as 3-D printing is making leaps and bounds in quality over the last couple of years. If this product does well, I would expect small parts like this to be the first thing changed and will most likely become a upgrade package for any 1st generation adopters. No affiliation to kabuki, just an engineering gym bro seeing the struggles of manufacturing in todays climate. Also depending on the printing material, bead blasting the final print would blend in a layering to conceal the manufacturing method. Keep on keepin' on!

A cable machine is not the same thing honestly. Look up the studies done on flywheel training. A cable is set at certain weight and in order to change tension you have to set the pin in between sets, this is not the case with the flywheel. For cable systems you must decelerate towards the end range which costs when attempting to develop power, that is mainly what the benefit of the flywheel over cable systems is. I would suggest checking out the independent studies done on this type of training.

Titan and products that need to be engineered properly don't mix. Look at their belt squat to see what happens when they don't copy others.

Tonal is good if you deadlift only 200 pounds. The flywheel is enough resistance for Chris Duffin. The man squats 1000 pounds for reps.

@@KenanTurkiye It is "smarter" if you don't need to lift more than 200 pounds, it's useless if you do. Each device has a market that it's suited for.

@@neilpollack3514 You are right but I wasn't clear in what I meant I guess. My contention is that Tonal offers so much more, in such a companct package and seems well built too, yes expensive, and with it you can always do low cable squats if squats are a priority. With this, you nearly only do squats and pay a hefty lot too. Yes I'm comparing apples and oranges, but its a subjective need perspective I was expressing.
