This is what happens when a engineer who built parts for airplanes and mine-proof war vehicles builds a barbell.

I feel like I am sitting in my Mechanical Engineering Class ( which was actually 10 yrs ago) and all of this makes perfect sense now.. Holy coowww.. Practicality makes soo much difference.

This video was genuinely more informative than some of my first year university engineering lectures. Great video and a great product!

No other powerlifters out there ever get around to the technical aspects of the equipment and it is possibly one of the most important parts of optimising your lifts.

I'm already sold on your bars quality, the duffalo bar we have is awesome. I want a bar that has less whip for when you bring a big raw bench down fast, definitely gonna be the next bar I buy.

I appreciate this video, just a couple comments. The "oscillations" you mentioned theoretically may or may not be related directly to tensile strength and/or Rockwell hardness. In the simplest sense (ignoring geometrical effects), it is related to the first-order damping coefficient. This coefficient, in metals, is related to material effects, such as friction between grain boundaries. As a note: Rockwell hardness is really only a very simple indicator of indentation resistance of metals.

Did you mean Desert Storm? Because that was early 90s. I think you may have meant something more recent. Also C-17s are pretty sweet they are park right next to my C-130s over here in Kuwait. C-130s are the greatest planes in the USAF!
@rgoo5197 жыл бұрын
SHAKEx99 my thoughts as well. He would have been about 19 during desert storm. Likely referencing OIF.

Definitely buying one, will make it possible to max Viking press without worrying about the bar falling apart.

Will the New Gen power bar rust in my garage? The rando bar I bought on Craigslist started rusting in like a year.

Seems like you do some sort of induction hardness or shot peening to avoid distoration, The shafts will distort when done full temper.

Great stuff from a warrior with a massive brain to match his lifts. HA. Love my ShouldeRok and appreciate the tour of the gym and taking time to explain some of your programming back in 11/16. I'm 52, getting stronger and more shredded thanks to you.

Martensite? Bainite? From watching the abrasion test, I would guess Martensite, but I have always thought that martempering would make for a very durable bar.

Do you have any idea what shipping will be like to Australia? I'm going to be getting a new power bar soon (currently have a Rogue Ohio but need another) and would love to get one of yours, so many companies are just too expensive for me to ship out though, Elite FTS wanted about $900 to ship a $600 bar (AUD not USD).

Seems like a solid Bar..Texas Power Bars is what we use at our gym and they let me down, the knurling wore down on a (LIFE FITNESS SIGNATURE SERIES OLYMPIC FLAT BENCH) with urethane protection.

is this a deadlift bar I'm sorry if stupid question as I have only trained with standard bars
@collinhake55077 жыл бұрын
It's a power bar which means it's good to be used on all 3 lifts (not a deadlift bar).

a dedicated "deadlift bar" usually is longer and has a thinner diameter to allow it to bend more. this bar is not designed to bend more than average. so, no, this isn't a dedicated DEADLIFT bar, but it can be and is used for deadlifts in powerlifting competitions.

Great video! I would love to see how your testing results prove the differentiation between the bars' section modulus and the deflection limits. Also would also love to see how Olympic barbells would compare to say your power bar or proper power bar considering they have a similar moment arm. I tell lifters that Olympic barbells can be outright dangerous if you are doing a max squat or bench press as they are designed to whip and assist a weightlifter with recovery from a low squat or jerk position.

As an engineer, I approve this message. Will consider the bar for my next home gym. Question - we know the knurl will last, but how aggressive (deep) is the knurl compared to other bars?
@ianmcstruthers99377 жыл бұрын
I deadlift 900+ on the reg more concerned with the durability of the knurling. Had a OPB for ~8 months and the knurling was already wearing down
