Most prophetic books focus on the words of the prophet, but this book is unique in that it is a story about the prophet Jonah himself. This story is sooo much more than a story about a man who gets swallowed up by a big fish, it's a story that craftily causes the reader to examine his or her own heart and ultimately, a story that masterfully reveals to us the character of God and points us to Jesus. In this Jonah chapter 1 Bible Study With Me video, we are covering the historical context, theme, and book structure for the book of Jonah, and jumping right into the story where Jonah is given a call, but disobeys God. There is always a cost when we cling to our own way and disobey God and Jonah chapter 1 presents the question...what is disobeying God costing you?
