Hi, after watching the video, I'd just like to raise some questionable points / red flags on your testing methodology : (This is mostly constructive criticism and in no way some form of bashing, i understand content creators need to pump out video asap for the views and show "metas", but there were a lot of errors in the video that have to be addressed) - Damage comparison with mods or not : Within the machine gun testing sections, some of your players were running different kind of mods, some were running minor spec, while others were not? All players should be on the same field level regarding damage testing. You'll want to specify which buffs are used and which are straight up avoided, and keep these constant across testing. This also needs to be addressed with any kind of empowering / buffs / debuffs used, what exactly are you using? And does it benefit the entire team? It would be better to do a "raw" damage testing with 0 perks / mods / buffs applied, then a more specialized one with a baseline setup that everyone respects. - Total reserves damage vs optimized damage You should specify how long your DPS rotation will be , in the case of Oryx if it will be a 4 bomb vs a 13 bomb setup; the duration of the DPS phase will vastly impact the results, since some weapons will outshine for sustained damage (eq : high reserves LFR or LFRs with perks such as Fourth Time the charm and Bait and switch will dominate on a long DPS rotation such as 13 bomb Oryx, which would put cataclysmic in a strong advantage). - Light level is not taken into consideration for the damage calculation of the weapons : Oryx's recommended light is 1580, the way the game calculates weapon damage is by using a formula where one of the element is the effective Power level of your weapons (also called ePL) ; this ePL is a summation of your current artifact level + your weapon light level ; if the sum of both is equal to 1580, you'll do x0.925, the only way to reach damage cap on raid encounters is to run your ePL +21 light level above the recommended light, so you'll need your wepaon at 1580 and your artifact at +21 to do x1.146 damage, which will skew already your LFR damages ; the formula used for the calculation in raids and dungeons is the following : [scalar] = e[weapon ePL delta]*0.00672 - Consistency vs Luck Specifically for LFR : Testing shouldn't rely on proccing perks with a 25% chance (such as Veist Stinger), it should be done with perks that are, and with a 100% chance of uptime [or an approximated average value, although I'm not aware of those values for Stinger anywhere] For the case of rocket launchers : Was WPR (Wolf Pack Rounds) active before dps even began? This has to be taken into consideration also ; same goes for adaptive ordnance, when you did your damage check for Eye of Tomorrow. Miscellaneous: Rocket section : Reload speeds are not controlled for, both in term of the stats per rocket launcher, but also in term of human execution (eg : animation cancelling / early forcing of reload). Quote : "Our Izanagi guy apparently screwed up a few reloads, but you can just double that damage or even triple it" ; that's poor methodology. The test should have been repeated, and possibly someone better used to Izanagi's asked to test it. Regards, PS : if you made it that far, congrats, current dps king for oryx IF you can provide consistent uptime of solar wells is cataclysmic + FTTC + BnS + X4 font of might + X1 time dilation, with a well of radiance and a Divinity active :-), at light level cap (1601) and your weapon at 1580, your entire team can 4 bomb one phase with that setup.

People so often forget Rat king. Its just hilarious how fast it shreds bosses. BUT the issue here is that Oryx is very far away, and the damage falloff for most weapons is terrible. Kackis could have just linked d2gunsmith, because the range is actually what was tested for the most part. Interestingly, in one part of the video a guy called "angel" was much closer to Oryx with wardcliff I think. That means his damage dropoff was less than the other players BUT he was nowhere close to the buffs... no pack hunter, no well (25%), no radiant (25%), ... These things are very significant.

One thing I want to note is that if Veist Stinger procs on either Reeds or Taipan, it'll help with your DPS tremendously bc of the lack of reload downtime. It would also be interesting to see what the builds BEHIND each weapon is (bc if 1 person is running Font of Might or HEF as an example) that's a free damage buff that is not shown in the DPS numbers. I'm pleasantly surprised to see Whisper in the top tier of DPS, hopefully Legendary Snipers get a PVE damage buff on majors and mini bosses...

@@Dream146 For Oryx I think it is well worth using for DPS testing. When you hit him exactly in the middle (black) it does way more damage than hitting him into the white. When you run a Stormchaser, for instance, it is pretty hard to make sure every shot actually lands into the black (especially when you also get attacked by adds during DP). The DIV bubble ensures that you constantly hit the sweet spot. One shot, every now and then, into the white can make a huge difference. That’s probably why in one attempt in his vid the Stormchaser did over 1.4 million and in the other just 1.2. I bet with the advantages of DIV (without the extra damage buff) the Stormchaser would have hit over 1.5 mill with ease.

Thoughtless is absolutely insane against Oryx. Was running it earlier with an auto-loading/firing line Stormchaser. Emptying the Stormchaser, shooting Thoughtless 4 times and swapping back to Storm was great total damage but maybe Izanagi’s with that stormchaser would be better though.

Sure the special ammo snipers don't do as much as a heavy linear, BUT you can use Taipan until you run out of ammo and then switch to sniper. That way you can take ammo mods off and free some mod space

When doing damage testing for comparisons it’s best to control as many variables as possible, first and foremost are the weapon and overall character light level. It’s also best to keep the buffs being applied to each weapon consistent such as FoM where appropriate and any inclusion or exclusion of boss spec. Bait and switch cataclysmic should be much better than you saw and the same roll of taipan and reeds should give the same numbers

My older bro and I were doing this raid last night with some random people from lfg. My bro was using Witherhoard with the catalyst for dps. Other weapons to test for curiosity sake Agers sceptre catalyst super beam Outbreak perfected Hawkmoon Malfeasance + lucky pants Special ammo grenade launchers (Ignition code, fighting lion etc.) Heavy ammo grenade launchers once enabled again (anarchy, prospector etc.) Fusion rifles( Cartesian, telesto, vex, merciless, etc.) Shotguns (heritage, soujourner, chaperone, legend of acrius, fourth horseman etc.)

Recommendations for another test video: Threaded Needle god roll linear, Ascendancy rocket, Palmyra B god roll rocket, ikelos god roll sniper, adored sniper, and royal entry with lasting impression rocket. Also retest Izanagi, but with a hot swap that includes the condensed shot and a heavy weapon instead of by itself.

@@sunshot_addict In a way, yes and no. Let's get into this though. It is a void linear fusion, and there's only one void linear that competes in slot (the new one). The problem with the new one is it is specifically for a team setting cause of firing line. This makes needle more useful for solo play or for things where you are not standing directly next to your team. Additionally, not everyone has the god roll stormchaser (dungeon), cataclysmic (raid), or reeds (trials) yet. Take me for example. I have a good cataclysmic, but I don't have reeds and have an okay stromchaser. The important things about the needle is it is void with only one thing competing in slot and it's better when not in raids.

You should try Ionized Battery with a Backup Mag on Taipan. It lets the mag go to 7 rounds, which goes to 10 with Triple Tap, allowing a 16% damage lead over a 6 round boss spec roll.

good video! would be good to see cataclysm used alongside Izanagi for the bait and switch as I've heard a lot of people saying that cat + bait and switch should be the highest damage linear (even without izanagi) so weird to see it be so drastically outperformed

Best dps set up is imo.. 1) Give yourself radiant 2) Izanagi 3) God roll Reed/Taiwan 4) Charged with light x2 or x3 I run a god roll reeds (adept) with big boss damage mod and I break 2.5/3M each dps phase so if you do 2 or 3 phase that's roughly 7.5M damage your doing alone. This is obviously better with things like well, bubble, divinity but what I listed is universal without any of that.

Thoughtless probably better overall bc it can proc font of might plus enhanced Overflow giving 17 bullets cuts out basically all reloads trough out the fight. Kinda weird that i see ppl using arbalest for backup DPS over it. Also pairs insanely well with auto-loading heavies bc it can shoot forever basically.

Just wanna make a quick note, Cataclysmic has the most ammo efficiency out of all linears b/c of 4th times. While you may get higher dps w/another linear, you may not have much ammo for final stand. Just something to keep in mind.

I think your numbers might be scuffed. While his entire inside chest becomes a crit, the Black orb in the middle of Oryx's chest is receiving higher damage than the white surrounding it. You need to keep that in mind cause it's not nothing, I think its around 20 percent more damage

I’ve started using div and an auto loading rocket that I got swap to while shooting div. I also use something like celestial or rolling thunder depending on the boss for easy extra damage.

The thing though is that oryx isn't a dps boss. He's a total damage boss. He's got around 16-17 million health making him one of the highest health bosses in the game (behind, as far as I know, caretaker, with over 30 million health). This is why linears and whisper did well whilst rockets on average did poorly. Rockets have high dps but low total damage. Linears and whisper are designed to have very large total damage pools and benefit the most from long damage phases.

Adept Hothead with explosive light | Super charged, Argent Ordinance, Melee well maker, elemental charge, and font of wisdom with star eaters and blade barrage. Nobody hit more dmg than me besides my boy who ran the same build. My highest in a wipe without final stand was 4.9 Mil. Your welcome whoever takes this game lol but I rock the Cloudstrike exotic for when my rockets get low, but you can go Izzy if you want, but I rather unload 7 shots and then let the thunder strike. 7x20k=140k+X where X stands for the lightning strikes cause by cloudstrike. Double rocket reserves, Have 1 Div user, shoot 1 rocket, blade barrage, then shoot 4 more rockets, then cloudstrike spam cause the phase is nearing an end, then stack up all over again. Font of wisdom procs off melee wellmaker because the well pick ups, get your super as fast as you can, I also use kinetic siphon for orbs, 2 wells = 4 charged with light, and all you need is 4 orbs, maybe even 1 orb and get 3 off the ally with the well of radiance, fully stacked, dmg again and that’s around 4+ Mil. 5 is the rare case you have full heavy every phase, even atleast 6 rockets and just play to perfection with fully expending all godslayer warheads and explosive light, blade barrage, and quickly swap to cloudstrike and empty it

My favorite load out for Oryx is Cataclysmic and Izanagi’s on Hunter. The quick damage from blade barrage along with a Honed edge x4 to combo into bait and switch before dodge reloading makes a massive damage dump.

Vorpal only gives a 10% damage buff on heavy weapons. The other damage buffs like focused fury and firing line have a higher damage increase. Vorpal is a good perk, there are just better options for dps.

I'm so happy to see Whisper of the Worm back being one of the top boss dps. I left a few years ago a bit after Forge came out from Ada. When Whisper or Sleeper were the dominant boss DPS weapons. I remember using Whisper so much in Leviathan, Last Wish and whatnot
