Just want to say these tutorials are fantastic! I've been dying to get inside Reaktor 6 properly since I've got it and you're really showing us how. I make techno and these tutorials are really inspiring me, not only in how to use Reaktor 6, but also in terms of how to take a modular synthasis approach to my work. Which of course is every techno heads dream. Awesome!

Do you have anything I can hear? I would love some examples

Blocks is the shit! These are some of the most useful sound design tutorial videos I've seen, and I've seen a good amount. And it's so great for a beginner because as we learn this incredibly easy-to-use format, we're also learning a thing or two about the WIZARD'S environment that is reaktor lol... Can't overstate how awesome this is :) :) :)

Great tutorial, thank you so much!

A very good tutorial, whether one uses Blocks or not. Owen is very good at explaining what and WHY something is done. (And he might've sold me a copy of Reaktor while doing that. :D )

Exactly! This series is explaining synthesis in a concise and actionable way. KZbin sound design tutes are moving into the future!

By the way you can use the S&H module for noise and you don't have to use an extra VCA. You can just plug it straight into the mixer and then use the envelope to modulate the mixer volume on channel two. Got to save CPU! :)

I created this same patch and all adjusted the settings for everything to match but my kick sounds drastically different..? What did I do wrong?

Does it sound good? Any answers?

The problem is these videos don't show how everything is sorted on the right side. So you did the same error and mistake as we all did. Since there is a big segment missing.

try shorten the Decay of ADSR which modules OSC's frequency, that's a very important parameter which may it sound like a kick

This is so informative when it comes to building a kick drum. Could you possibly do more tutorials on sound design for Drum Kits in Reaktor? Snares, hi hats, more on kicks.. etc? I want to create kits for my music that no one else has - but it's a bit daunting. Well, guess I should probably just experiment a lot :)

11 months late, but check out Robert Henke's Operator video, you can apply that to any synth then, including Reaktor kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJfIimOVoJaWqs0

I mimicked this ensemble exactly how it was shown in the video, but my kick has no sub, only white noise. Any reason for this?

I had the same issue. His routing is a little bit hard to figure out. watch the video carefully for the parts where he highlights multiple blocks and you will see how the routing works.

@@peopler4eating Thanks. I figured it out a while ago - think i just needed to mess with the knobs on the VCA or Envelope or something. Still learning blocks!

I hate to say this, but: In every video since we got "thrown" into everything. Meaning you don't see what has been sorted on the right panel side. Meaning: Every outcome is now possible, since we never know which panel is which. I can't understand what's the use in that. Are the tutorials only here to watch? I thought I should recreate that sound but it's not possible in that kind of manner.

His kick at the Native Sessions was absolute crap even though he made a really nice a year ago here!

while this is cool, it's almost pointless because why spend all that time getting a good kick from scratch when you have plenty of good ones in any program? This is more of a hobby to work with while taking a break from making music. This would be Better than streaming stupid shows or movies, cheers

or you could possibly create your own unique kick that no one else has access to, if you wanted to be original that is...

It's hard for many of us to use samples. You're totally right. I guess some people value learning over producing a result? I don't know. It's kinda retarded AF. I own three drums, all of which sound amazing. But for some reason I feel hopelessly compelled to have every single drum in every one of my tracks to be entirely custom made and played for said track.

Back when I was more into EDM, I too felt like I had a quicker time flipping/mashing and mangling samples. I'd automate the pitch of an existing kick, and lop off the click and slap on the head of a re-pitched clap/snare/hat or layer a different kick on top with the tail cut off on a HP filter. In my experience, you can achieve quicker results this way instead of tweaking a sine-wave-slide to attempt to mimic what a 909 did best. The end result is still something quite custom with all this Frankenstein methodology, but takes a fraction of time when you layer samplers in FL Studio instead of beginning with a blank slate and a sine-wave oscillator.
