Hey, can you tell me the recipe using it? I have an extensively grown Kaempferia Pulchra and heard that it has quite some medicinal properties. But I just don't know how to use! It would be super-helpful if you let me know!

I have purchased dormant rhizome. How can i sprout them?
@Sheikyerbouti8
@Sheikyerbouti8 3 жыл бұрын
The best way is to plant it in dry potting soil and keep it dry until Spring, when it is warm enough. Then begin watering it.

Aloha Haru, I totally understand, that happened to me when my son cleaned up my mother in laws garden and threw everything away, especially all her rare planes, out of all of them, i finally found one of them after 20 years! Now, I have them growing in my yard. We have this rare Thai ginger in Chinatown and there is only one man that sells it, Domingo there and buy a lot of it from him, then give it away to my ohana and close friends to grow. I am touched by your story and would like to offer you a nice piece for you to grow it. But, you pay for shipping. The handling no charge cause the best reward to me is you having a piece of this ginger that reminds you of your dad.

Sorry Sir, Sand ginger is not galangal, galangal/ lengkuas which is a tall plant, this sand ginger stays onto the ground. The Galangal root is very hard like wood. Sand ginger root is soft and small in size, smaller than the turmeric root. Sand ginger is very aroma , we cook it with meat. I share my recipe with you and I am sure you all will like it Sand Ginger braised with meat. Meat -- chicken, pork or even beef or mutton, 1 kg / 2 Lbs, 2 spoons of fermented bean paste- if you can't find this Chinese bean paste, you no need to add, some ginger if cook with beef or mutton, use more ginger, 5 cloves garlic, 10 shallots , take around 3-4 plants of sand ginger with the leaves too, 1 inch turmeric root, 2-5 red chili-- optional, 1 teaspoon peppercorns, Blend all together. Fry it with oil until oil rises , add in the meat, fry until dries and add in 1 spoon sugar, then some thick soy sauce and thin soy sauce, fry well. Then add in water , enough to cover them and simmer until tender. You can add in diced potato 20 mins before done. Season to taste. It is a very yummy and aroma dish. Make sure you cook more rice. you can eat it with bread or pita bread too !

the rule of thumb here in indonesia, if somebody use kencur (aromatic ginger) it means the cook knows what he/she is doing... because if u put too much is gonna F up the dishes, unlike any ginger, if u use 3-4 more centimer more than the recipe demand, then u most like gonna get away with it, but aromatic ginger is unforgiving, its gonna give u overpowered pungent taste that is not gonna be tolerable.... it discourage many beginner who want to try cooking a food with a aromatic ginger in it
