My god, it took me 45 minutes to find this video again. Google search history, page history, YT watch history, YT search history I'm glad i found it again, but it also shows that YT might not be pushing ur channel(tho they should, IMO). Searched for "decent espresso alternative" and similar search terms, but nothing showed up on YT or google. For some reason, it now randomly recommended it on my home page of YT Damn the algorithm

Anyone know of a head to head or comparison between this and a Gaggia Gaggiuino mod?
@muhamadfaizalias858 Жыл бұрын
the machine carcass is from gemilai CRM3007g (mainland china espresso brand). which i have at home. that make me very skeptic because the pid is not very good.
@Kafmasino Жыл бұрын
Kafmasino ONE only uses a generic machine housing as we do not have any external funding and we are a small company. To this housing we have added our own components and some known components like the ULKA water pump. By using our own components and our own PCBs we design and develop our own software and firmware. When you produce your own firmware you also have to develop your own PID and that is what we have done! You can visit our youtube channel and you will see the consistency and thermal stability of our machine.

Having used a Delonghi Dedica for about 2 years, im starting to look into my first serious machine. Also have an ECP 35.31 with a boiler Was always considering the Sage/Breville Dualboiler for excellent features for the price. But now i think i might be reconsidering. I don't care if it's thermoblock or boiler, as long as its consistent and has good steaming power
@homecafecharlie Жыл бұрын
I mean no thermoblock is gonna have the same steaming power as a machine with a separate steam boiler. Lots of dual boiler options but it's all down to your budget and what you prioritise. If you just want a good espresso, get a Flair 58. If you want great milk steam, get a dual boiler. And if you want a computer pretending to be a coffee machine, get a Kafmasino 🤣

After their Kickstarter flopped, I thought this was dead. What worried me then - and now tbh - is that this is a comparatively cheap machine that has been modified to support what looks like good software. I believe this is a Hungarian-made AVX DB1, which retails at around the £450 mark. This approach - cheap hardware modified with bolt on bits and with clever software - was tried with the ZPM, which collapsed taking a lot of people’s cash with it, before John from Decent eventually used the idea to create the Decent, having recognised the cheap base approach wouldn’t work. James Hoffmann did an interesting video on it. I wish these guys well, but I’d be concerned over the financial strength of a small business, whose machine is not even their own. What happens if AVX go bust or stop providing spares?
@homecafecharlie Жыл бұрын
I saw the Hoff's video on that. Very interesting. I have no idea if Kafmasino will be a success but that's always a risk with a new company. Business is hard, and I wish them all the best because we need more competition in this space, and the software here is good so I have high hopes.
@Kafmasino Жыл бұрын
Kafmasino is formed by two brothers and is an small brand, during our initial Kickstarter we explained how our whole adventure started. Since we don't have any investor behind us we had to contact a factory in China to supply us with the casing of the machine, on this skeleton we have added our components to make Kafmasino ONE what it is, a very advanced machine for the lowest possible cost. The components of the machine come from different manufacturers as in any machine in the market, the thermoblock and the boiler come from one factory and for example the pump comes from another brand that you will surely know ULKA. On our youtube channel you will find videos testing the machine thoroughly and showing that it is a consistent machine among its shots, the thermal stability is very good and we also have videos showing the pressure in different recipes!
@MrHarlequin2316 Жыл бұрын
@@Kafmasino don’t get me wrong, I wish you every success, but the fact that you have no corporate investors, backing or funding actually supports one of my concerns. Also, the review by the Wired Gourmet does raise concerns over build quality and consistency, but I accept that may have been a pre-production example. I will be interested to follow your progress and, as I said, I wish you every success but I am afraid that, until I am comfortable that this isn’t another ZPM that will disappear without trace, I won’t be buying one.
@Kafmasino Жыл бұрын
@@MrHarlequin2316 We understand your point of view although it has been almost a year since we started shipping the first pre-sale machines. Comparing us with ZPM is a bit unfair, isn't it? We have fulfilled all our deliveries and we take care of all the machines that our customers bought back in the day by supporting them, maintaining the servers and working on updates. Because we use a case and components from different brands we can support them as they are generic. The most important part which is our PCB with software and firmware made from scratch, and this PCBs we can always produce them without depending on anyone. About the "review" that made the channel you mention we do not have much to talk about because the person who did it, treacherously uploaded the video without telling us "defects" of which he spoke in the video and blocked us from any communication channel. We tried to explain in the comments what it was happening but he blocked us and removed our comments. He only wanted to make an exclusive video(recorded in 1 week because he was in a hurry to go on vacation) without giving us the option to send him another prototype with better finishes. We have uploaded videos to our youtube channel demonstrating the consistency of our machine making 4 coffees in a row and getting the same results, we have also uploaded videos demonstrating the thermal stability and pressure stability.
