I just realized when Len says, "That day we met, it was snowing too, wasn't it?" he could also be referring to the actual first time they met, which was when Rin was still in her crane form. He might've known all along that she was the crane he saved that day!

Hey, if you notice enough, most of Kagamine twins duets were turn into dramatic storyline, (Ex: Story of evil, mahou no kagami, alluring secret, this song, and etc.) Most of them have sad ending, either they died, or suicide, or separated, or war, and something like that.

I sat here for several minutes and the ONLY song I could think of that was happy at all was "Black Cats of Halloween", and I'm not too sure that one isn't a cover too... these two are in too many sad songs...
If we ignore the complex plot and storytelling devices, this is really just the song version of “Would you love me if I was a worm”

Your comment was so powerful that now I can't never feel the same sadness when I listen to this song again TT The beautiful story of the scholar and the crane was compared to that of the stupid worn question.... I can't even report your comment because you did not say anything wrong but the damage you done is real. I can't cry. I'm sad for the loss of sadness... That doesn't even make sense at this point. Your comment managed to give me an existential crisis man TT

The Crane Wife is an old Japanese folktale. While there are many variations of the tale, a common version is that a poor man finds an injured crane on his doorstep (or outside with an arrow in it), takes it in and nurses it back to health. After he releases the crane, a woman appears at his doorstep with whom he falls in love and marries. Because they need money, his wife offers to weave wondrous clothes out of silk that they can sell at the market, but only if he agrees never to watch her making them. They begin to sell them and live a comfortable life, but he soon makes her weave them more and more. Oblivious to his wife's declining health, his greed increases. He eventually peeks in to see what she is doing to make the silk she weaves so desirable. He is shocked to discover that at the loom is a crane plucking feathers from her own body and weaving them into the loom. The crane, seeing him, flies away and never returns. So yay Len was more of a jerk in that one

I have a question: It doesn't really seem like len wanted more and more it seemed more like she did this because he was ill and didn't seem to get better. And that he loves her even though she flies away. Or did I misunderstood?

The original was very old story and just a story like the old Greek myths handed down. This is a song made my Hitoshizuku × Yama△ that tells a similar tail. Hitoshizuku × Yama△ are an artist you draws the art, an song writer and a mixer. Sometimes they make light novels or short mangas based off the songs but most of the times their just songs. Fans sometimes make their own version as well

Siobhan Sullivan it rlly depends on the creator, cuz they are just different gender version of each other. But the one who voice them like them to be sibling
Even though this is like, super late, but I realized that the beginning was slow because of winter and spring, winter because of it's slow leave and spring's slow arrival, and it gets quicker in the middle because of summer and fall, both seem to pass very quickly if you aren't paying attention to them, which is why it's slow at the beginning and fast in the middle and end
8 years later this song still hits hard as ever...even after coming back to this after a few years now...I can't help but be touched by how beautiful this song and its lyrics are!!

If i'm not wrong, its an asia folklore. About a man and a crane which he helps the injured crane something like that. And then the crane give her gratitude by give him a fabric(something like silk) to sell to the town.

Bit of a late reply, but this is a song based on the story of The Crane Wife. The version of the story I heard was that the man saved a crane one day and after that, a beautiful woman showed up at his door and they fell in love and got married. However, they were poor and they needed money so the wife says she has a way to make something to sell but warns him not to peek while she's working. He agrees and she emerges tired, after a long time, with a bolt of beautiful silk. It fetches a high price and the husband begins to get greedy, making his wife weave more and more silk even as she visibly grows weaker. One day, he can't resist his curiosity any further and takes a peek. To his surprise, a crane is sitting at the loom, weaving its feathers into silk. The wife, who was the crane he saved, saw that her husband peeked and betrayed her trust, and flew out the window. Her husband never saw her again.
