I assume that it didn't look like that when alive. It probably looks that way because the taxidermy can only preserve soo much. A lot of the cartilage in the ears and nose has probably decomposed making it look like it looks now.

Why does this dog look so creepy? Edit: so I looked it up and it seams like this got messed up or this particular dog looked like this. But the species itself looks rather cute and fox like.

No when the people realized that all the eating of that dog (yes they all at dog) and using its fur as their clothing had caused the breed to become extinct this particular dog was hurried to be salvaged. This dog was already dead to be eaten that's why it's messed up like that

The breed went extinct because it couldn't cross breed with other dogs because it had been far too removed from other dogs like the German Sheppard. It looks weird because the specimen wasn't taxidermied at death, it was found with parts missing due to degradation so they had to piece it all back and fill in the blanks.

Kuri breed were never treated as a pet back then from what i've heard of instead they were viewed as foods and it teared me up 😥😥😥
