I have a different theory. If I'm Not wrong there is a book or Comic that States that while Jay worked for the Administration He would Sneak Out at night, and Test His abilitys Out. Maybe Kai encountered him but didn't recognise that it was Jay and thought that there's a New elemental Masters of lightning. Maybe He thought after Meeting him that Jay died and keeps it a Secret because He doesn't know how He should say it to her. So i think that Kai Saw in His dream how Nya and the Rest of the Ninja would react after finding Out that he didn't Tell them that Jay "died"

I think that Kai knows that Jay lost his memory when they're in the cave and they had illusions. Kai found Jay evil, but don't want to talk it. He made a joke when Nya communicated with him because he doesn't want to burnt her into tears. I don't know. I think that Jay (Rogue) will recognize Kai in season 3 but not the other ninjas. And this theory with netflix is true, cuz it looks like real.

I don't think Kai would withhold that information from Nya. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if Kai felt guilty about not finding Jay, perhaps the vision was of Jay or Nya blaming Kai for it. It would be interesting if Kai was worried about Jay potentially turning evil. It'd be like when Lloyd got possessed and Kai was blaming himself for it.

My theory is that Kai knew about the merge before it happened, in s1 Kai saw the green ninja thing and maybe he saw something about the merge and like every time wu wanted to keep this a secret so he made Kai promise not to tell anyone so he felt guilty

Almost everything that is happening in dr is related to Lloyd, the source dragons, the merge and Jay, Arin searches for Jay because of his parents, the merge affected Jay, rass searched for Jay, The source dragon that was locked away was Jay's (probably) and he joined the forbidden 5, I think it's too likely that Kai saw something with jay, but I don't think he'll hide it, I hope so 😔😔

I see the point in this theory, but I don't think that it has to be that drastic in terms of Kai leaving Jay alone. It could be something simpler like he knows about something bad that happened to Jay (like an accident during the merge, or seeing some unknown administration taking him away). Something bad that he doesn't want to tell the ninja, specially Nya, since it could hurt them to know.

Maybe during his time wandering the merged realm he found Jay, but at the time couldn’t save him. Maybe he thought that Jay was long gone, but after hearing Nya talk about see him and still loving him. Kai changed his mind on not bringing Jay back.

It wouldn't be something for Kai to just let him be taken. Even before nya and Jay started dating, the boys are as brothers and protect each other. Having said that, Kai is very protective and hates it when he fails. He has difficulty to accept that. I can see a scenario where Kai is injured or knocked out first and not able to protect Jay what leads to his amnesia. Maybe he was forced to watch him dragged away and couldn't help. Then, without the others he couldn't help him at a later date and with the merge, empress Beatrix and was, he was forced to leave him behind. There was no time to tell anyone

I think maybe those collectibles in drs3 kai might have had a vision about and maybe those can be more than a meer opening tool to another realm. The writers actually giving screentime back to Kai is probably the BEST thing to happen to Ninjago since.... A LONG time ago. Ever since the new series (not DR) came out, they've made Kai shallow and basically just comedic relief. So to see him actually get meaningful screentime that both contributes to his character development as well as the plot is a really nice change of pace. Also this theory is SO GOOD... um I'm kinda worried for season 3 of DR now lol

The cave monster showed the ninja their deepest fears and it has been confirmed that kai's deepest fear is being alone or being excluded, so maybe what he saw was nia excluding him from something, maybe because of jay, that would be interesting.

also all of the ninja's FULL POTENTIAL are scary, Jay since he can make lightning he can make electro similar attacks, like he can control people by disturbing the electro nerve waves signals and also make thunder storms, for Nya she can cut through the whole realm with a power water jet slice and control blood, for Cole he can make gigantic meteors in the sky and drop them down, he might also be able to make weapon made of earth, for Kai he can probably make a beam of fire that is so powerful that becomes pure plasma energy that can near erase anything, for Zane he can probably freeze everything and make everything for sure way below zero and while give everyone insta frostbite or more, for Loid I don't need to explain.(I'm not gonna put sora because I'm lazy, anyways know that there is way more potential than what I wrote.)

It is quite possible in the cave, nya was talking to lloyd about how her fear she saw was jay not remembering her wich is when kai looks away but maybe its could be about lloyd him and Kai were the most like brothers out of all the ninjas in earlier seasons with lloyd being a conduit now maybe lloyd will have to sacrifice himself at somepoint and thats what Kai saw and maybe Kai plans to try and save lloyd and sacrifice himself instead and thats why he doesn't say anything

im thinking that kai finds himself in the realm of madness right after the merge hit along with the bounty and the administration take the bounty and find kai inside forcing kai to work for the administration along side jay. everyone in the administration have had there memories wiped so they don't remember there past lives and kai somehow manages to remember his life and knows how he can help jay remember which is why he may feel guilt for knowing how he can save him but not acting on it (phantasm cave) and he escapes the administration with the bounty and finds lloyd. I don't know why he wouldn't tell nya and the other ninja but maybe he was threatened or feels bad for not trying harder to help jay so he's hiding this information.
