This song was inspired by a few people in my life, family and friends, who have struggled with anxiety, toxic longterm relationships, living with jobs they hate for years too long, and so on - myself and my own experiences included. Sometimes we can struggle with something for so long, we give up on ourselves. It’s like the amount of time we’ve struggled becomes evidence that we’ll keep struggling, and I think that’s a lie. In this song’s hook I sing, “I’ve got a new war with old wrongs.” Meaning - it’s never too late to get back up. If I can manage a day of freedom after a lifetime of living under the thumb of my lesser self, that day is a victory, and every day afterward, regardless of how many days I may have left - are worth the time it took to get there. A dark past does not have to be evidence of a dark future.

Honestly, I felt this with all my being. For years I've felt trapped in my own personal prison. From a job I loathe to being fearful of the unknown. Being scared of taking news steps like buying a home or moving on to something else with career.
