I think what Kaido is specifically referring to in those panels are the willpower/spirit component of what haki is. Monet with the snow logia beat Tashigi and almost got Luffy. Law with his OP fruit beat Vergo who was covered in haki. Queen with his ancient zoan dinosaur fruit was able to overpower and crush the bones of dozens of armament haki masters but it didn't work against Sanji who wasn't using haki but SCIENCE. Not a devil fruit but Hody Jones was overpowering Luffy's armament haki with his sharp bite force and almost caused him to bleed out. There are alot of instances of haki techniques being overpowered unless your haki is in the less than 1% of users and most people aren't.

There are so many instances in the story where pure df powers have beat Haki. Queen said that his dinosaur powers have crushed bones of dozens of armament haki masters. Tashigi got bodied by Monets snow fruit and Luffy got caught slipping too. Law beating Vergo. Of course haki has beat df too but df can take you instantly from fodder to strong

Kuzan's devil fruit exits. (Hie-Hie no Mi) The one weakness you have is no threat. Also it's a Logia so most attacks doesn't hurt you and the best part about the fruit is, that you can actually immobilize almost everybody including haki gods. Also with certain weather you're a god. You can become the "strongest" while only using haki, but even with the strongest devil fruit you still need at least a little haki. The strongest person we saw that didn't have any armor and kings haki was enel, even though he had the observation haki was still in big disadvantage because of it and because he was fighting the wrong guy

What about a devil fruit that incorporates haki? Like Luffy's. Best of both worlds? One interpretation of Kaido's comment about haki could be that haki is potentially stronger than devil fruits since you can negate devil fruits. The reason we don't see many people with absurd haki is that it is a very difficult level to reach. Few can ever reach the level where the haki overweighs devil fruits.

If you scale Haki mastery up to its full potential, it’s DEFINITELY the better power. Way too versatile. Fully mastering the techniques of all 3 would make you almost invincible. Perfect Observation Haki means nothing will ever take you by surprise and you are functionally omniscient - you know where everyone/everything is in your immediate surroundings, how strong they are, how they feel, and even what they’ll do a few seconds into the future. Perfect Armament Haki means virtually nothing can harm you - all incoming damage (which, thanks to Observation Haki you are already aware of before it even happens) is drastically softened or outright negated by an aura of pure willpower Perfect Conqueror’s Haki means that anyone and anything can catch these hands and it’ll definitely hurt. You can overwhelm the minds of those weaker than yourself for easy crowd-control, subjugate wild animals to do your bidding, alter the physical environment and massively boost the potency of your normal attacks. @@neos5432 I mean your argument makes sense but I think I disagree with some of the things you said. You said the elders want to kill luffy for his devil fruit not haki. That’s true but I think you forgot how when luffy unconsciously used conquerors in the war, akainu, akoji, and sengoku knew they had to kill him because they knew how much of a threat he would be if they let a conqueror escape from there hands. Also while an average df users could beat a average haki user, the person that would have more potential would be the haki user without a doubt because as Rayleigh said, your haki blooms in battle. And not everyone can have a df like law, akainu, or big mom. In fact, most of the fruits we see in the show are ass fruits. Having a good or broken fruit is an exception because as I said before it’s not a common thing for people to have a broken fruit. More shitty df users would be better learning haki. Hell even broken devil users like law and kid would be so much powerful if they learned haki. Haki potential is almost limitless while your df will max out as soon as it awakens. I think kaido’s and the 5 elders opinion should be taken seriously but I would take kaido’s far more seriously than the elders because haki in the end is what it really comes down too. Not everyone has a god fruit like luffy so luffy’s fruit is an exception for a df being a serious threat. So for me haki>df or in general/overall df+ haki>just haki>just a df when it comes to potential. But in rare cases you might get someone that’s maxed haki>df+ haki> busted df or busted df>df + haki>just haki.

About the toppi roppo, they mainly used there Devin fruit powers and got bodied by the straw hats. If the toppi roppo was decent or good at haki, they would have beaten the straw hats aside from probably jinbe since he literally didn’t struggle with who’s who and jinbe was indeed decent with haki too. Last thing is there is no one in the story with just a df and shitty haki that can beat a top tier with only maxed out haki. Literally you can’t name anyone. I mean I did say that an average person with a df can beat an average person with haki but not everyone can awaken while almost anyone can use advanced versions of haki through countless battles. In fact, most of these df’s work better with haki.

Haki's only really good for combat but Devil Fruits have far more utility and can be useful for a lot more then just combat. Plus Devil Fruits are a more fair power system since anyone can eat a Devil fruit and if you have a weak fruit you can awaken it to make it powerful. But you explicitly have to be born with conquerors Haki.

I think they are roughly equal, like Roger level Haki would equal to BB level DF, both are unique(world conquering vs multiple DF body). For Luffy to transcend that, he needs both DF and Haki. Kaido is some type of hypocrite though, he claims he agrees with team Haki main, then pulls out a DF main ult. DF has limits as well, different DF has different ceilings, there is this concept of having a “stronger” DF, like aokiji’s DF is definitely stronger than Monet’s, and as a Zoan, Kaido’s DF is stronger than somebody like Black Maria’s, by nature. Both Haki and DF have limits, real top Haki user(Shanks Mihawk for example) have similar limits as real top DF user(admirals for example).

Haki was made to counter devil fruit power, in other words u need a certain level of haki just to surpass the durability of certain zoans or overcome the attack power or fighting style of paramecia and logia types. Haki is just another power system, there are some devil fruit powers that can compete with conqueror's haki coating and we will see that with the admirals, calling it conqueror's haki doesn't change the fact that its still haki and only contribute to ur overall attack power. The admirals have hand picked devil fruits for a reason.

Sorry dude I think u already answered your own question, regardless of the power of any devil fruit, HAKI MASTERS (Yonko and the like) litterly transforms one's own WILL into actual POWER/STRENGTH. Kaido and Big Mom can not suffer any damage not only because of their awesome Haki but everyone else's Haki was so damnn weak. Kaido wouldn't say 'Haki Transcends All' for no reason, Devil Fruit alone regardless of awakening can only take you so far but Haki can take you anywhere e.g. Gol D. Roger. I truly believe that the True Meaning of both Devil Fruits and Haki won't be revealed until our protagonist awakens and understands both his Devil Fruit and Haki as one and we the audience will see an entirely new power system unfold.

I have a couple of questions. One can shanks pick up and entire island with super structures on it with just his haki? Can shanks stop an island from falling out of the sky with his haki. Can shanks haki cause a tsunam.. I'm asking this not to discredit haki. It is obvious that haki is most important when having a battle against someone. The biggest feat we have seen of haki is the Roger & whitebeard clash which didn't destroy island. So in my opinion haki is most important when fighting and battling are concerned. If I'm being honest though the honest greatest feats we seen in the show have a devil fruit ability behind it. Crocs ability to stop the rain for an entire country, enel's giant Reiko electric ball, whitebeard breaking the world, law chopping a moutian range, doffys birdcage, etc. I'm just saying those are some pretty insane feats

I agree on the whole creativity aspect devil fruits take it so easily.......you are only truly limited by what your devil fruit type is meant to do and your mind! With some very flexible fruits the sky is the limit, literally and those battles are far more fun where the users are skilled devil fruit users with strong haki. Versus just haki users where one just has to be stronger from a base level, the fights with devil fruit masters are always super creative and we get to see a level of mastery with each one. Haki is important and definitely the counter to devil fruits, but it's not nearly as appealing of a power scheme or creative.

It's most likely going to be a huge thing later on with Kidd and Blackbeard vs Shanks and Luffy one side df heavy Kidd has no haki usage shown but still powerful like Blackbeard and Luffy and Shanks are haki experts Luffy eos will obviously master df and haki to the max but granted generally speaking people like Kidd who can dissemble people like he hinted at ot Killer who used sound based attacks or Blackbeard with his darkness it all depends on your powers on how important haki is to you also speaking in terms of Yonkos Kaidou is more haki heavy than Big Mam but Big Mam is relative to Kaidou due to having a better df overall Kaidou df is very basic thus he has to depend on haki more

@@AstroPeezy probably will they set up an intresting point of having Shanks take Kidd's arm for a reason setting up beef with him and Shanks and Luffy obviously looks up to Shanks so they'll be friends than enemies but Kidd's backstory theory and his connection to Rocks as well as Blackbeard well might make them temporarily allies and since both of them are df heavy Oda can set up a Blackbeard and Shanks clash where Kidd and Luffy on the opposite teams this was also hinted by the fact one Kidd wanted to fight Luffy since the timeskip and when Zoro and Killer fought they hinted at future rematch where both have their main weapons and abilities

Haki hands down. Haki in itself is so versatile and the many advantages it has against anyone (with or without a devil fruit) is absolutely insane. Not to mention there are three types of Haki which through training can mastered by making any one of those three types advanced (like Katakuri’s advanced observation which allowed him to see into the future) which is broken. Kaido wasn’t kidding when he said that Haki is vital in order to become King of the Pirates which makes Gol D. Roger’s feat of becoming one (while he was sick) far more impressive.

It should be noted that no haki master that we know of (a.k.a Shanks, Mihawk, Rayleigh, Roger, Garp, possibly whitebeard, etc.) have never once gone all out in a fight. It's entirely possible that Haki still has something that we're missing. I'd still say it's too early to call. "Get yo haki right, you can take on any fight"

Devil Fruits are more creative and fun imo. Oda should have stuck with the focus on DF in pre-timeskip. Before Haki was introduced the fights of OP were pretty good. They seemed more strategic and tactical. The only downside of just having Devil Fruits is the Logia Type. They do need to have some form of Weakness, and that weakness is Haki or Sea-Stone. However, I think One Piece could have gotten away with just introducing Armament Haki just to counter certain DF users, and leave it at that. I think that would have been better and Oda could have fleshed out the power system from there. Rather than keep introducing these new elements 1000 chapters within the story. It makes the power system just way too convenient at this point. But alas, wich one is more powerful between the two? It depends on the players. And how well you can fight with Haki. Id still take a well versed Haki user above a well versed DF user tho.
