Many fans wonder about Ulton defeating Thanos so quickly when Vision and the Avengers had so much trouble, but I want everyone to remember that Vision was gimped by Corvus stabbing him in the back with a weapon that apparently locked up a lot of his power.

I'd almost forgotten how incredibly epic the ending to season 1 was. The "wait, WHAT?" moment when Strange eats an explosion he's *in* is still just as mind-blowingly awesome now as it was back then. Thanks for the journey!

I love how they tied all the episodes together at the end. Its also easy to forget that Evil Strange absorbed the power of who knows how many different magical creatures, so while he doesn't look it, he has the capability of all of those magical beasts and monsters, like the ability to straight up contain and eat energy to power him up.

The best thing about these animated episodes is we got what was physically impossible to get from live action. That’d be a great “What If?” we got the entire MCU list animated?

The Watcher (Uatu) and his entire race made an oath to themselves and the multiverse basically. A long time ago the Watchers use to intervene but they noticed that they started a chain of events that did untold damage. This is why they made the oath. In the comics the exact story has been reconed a few times. And in most storielines Uatu is the last Watcher.

In the comics, it is stated that Thor and Loki is a mutiveral consent. Their relationship may differ but you will always have one when you have the other. Kind of a Nors yin yang.

So as you probably guessed, there was a missing 10th episode from this season. The Gamora and Tony episode ended up getting cut due to pandemic related delays, so that's why those characters show up out of nowhere. The Watcher isn't the only 'Watcher', it's a whole species (more of them appeared in the end credits of GotG2), the oath is a cultural thing because of interventions that backfired in the past. There is one No Way Home cameo that does require a bit more viewing than what you listed. It's pretty minor for the movie, but it'll play into other MCU properties heavily down the road. (Sorry, trying to tiptoe around this one). And finally... yaaaay, Heir to the Empire. The original Thrawn Trilogy is still my favourite Star Wars novel series, despite being de-canonized. It came out at a time well before the prequels when there weren't going to be any more Star Wars movies, and in many ways that series in particular felt like the closest thing to a continuation of that universe and those stories that we'd get. I was a young teenager and just starting my deep dive into the fandom around the time they came out, so they'll always be a bit special to me.

It didn't get de-canonized, it just got split into an alternate universe that, to my mind, is the superior one. There's the Disneyverse and the Betterverse.

@@StarkRG Lucasfilm. You know, the people who are responsible for actually maintaining the canon. You can choose to believe whatever you want, but that doesn't make it true. I miss a lot of stuff from the Legends side of things, but there was a lot of junk, too. It got very bloated and had a lot of entries that varied highly in quality.

It is interesting how some of these episodes can have stories where the changes are not necessarily worse than the original versions. The What If Thor Was An Only Child episode and What If T'Challa Was Starlord being examples. I collected a lot of the What If? comics and usually the common theme was that if something changed from the original canon it turned out disastrous. So it is nice seeing alternate realities that turned out better in some ways.

In Loki, the "sacred timeline" is described as being the one where all the heroes are their best selves. While Starlord T'Challa was a better version of Starlord than Peter, Black Panther T'Challa was the better version of T'Challa and Starlord Peter was a better version than Dairy Queen Peter. That is, assuming you buy that explanation, which you probably shouldn't.

I had already been a huge fan of the comic book series, and was really excited about the show when I first saw the trailer. I’m glad that I wasn’t disappointed with it, since it was so good. In the comics, Uatu, The Watcher, wasn’t supposed to “interfere” with the beings he was looking after, but did quite often, and never really suffered any consequences for his actions.

I was with you feelings-wise regarding the “circle shot” of the Guardians of the Multiverse which mirrored the first Avengers.

Hope you have a great holiday season! I loved What If, it was so much fun. There was a little comic book Easter eggs I enjoyed as a fan of the comics long before there was an MCU: The Zola-Ultron drone at the end with the face in the stomach. In the comics, Zola was always depicted as a robot body with a camera for a head, with Zola's face appearing on a monitor in the body's chest. So to see that here was pretty cool to see depicted. They came close in Winter Soldier with the camera on the computer table and his face on the screen, but this was much closer.

Glad you liked the show. The original What If comic from the 70s and 80s was legit one of my favorite comic book series. Any and everyone could die and there'd be crossovers from characters that didn't always meet. A lot of them were sad, but then some had happier endings than the original story. You never really knew what to expect and each issue had different writers and artists.. this is back in the days before multiverses and alternate timelines were everywhere.

That sucks that No Way Home was spoiled for you.. This series was fun; the animations and the music combined with the original actors voices.. Agents Of Shield is a great series too. As it was, over seven seasons on ABC, it ran alongside the MCU movies. A really fun thing I found while watching it was trying to find the little Easter Eggs throughout the show that referenced the ‘movie’ that just happened. I found it amazing how well they tied two separate series together. Love the reactions! 🥰 Merry Christmas!🎄

Oh, wonderful! It's... kind of funny that I had only just found and watched your first two What If...? reactions earlier today, and now this one is out! I am honestly thrilled with how this season played out. The Gamora in the finale is from an episode got pushed out to season 2 of What If...? Still, I just love the whole energy of seeing all of these characters coming together to solve a bigger problem. It is beautifully executed!

What bothers me a little, now that I rewatch these episodes, is how much they outshine anything we got on the live-action side of things. Obviously my complaint isn't that What if? was TOO good, but rather that we haven't seen anything similar in the movies. Ultron was a HOSS in the last couple of episodes here, and nothing has come close to him since. It's kind of difficult to discuss it further than that without going into spoiler territory for future movies, but basically I just want a new Avengers-level bad guy. What if? reminded me of how long ago it was since we last had one. But that rant aside, great reaction. It's been really fun to follow along. :)

If these characters had any idea how powerful the Soul Stone is they could have won easily. The Soul Stone could have trapped Ultron inside itself and there’s no coming back unless you can convince the Soul Stone to release the imprisoned being. Yes, the Soul Stone can be reasoned with. It’s semi-sentient and has empathy. But it’s incredibly rare to be released

Why watch Agents of Sheild now when you have a lot of phase 4 to do and some other Marvel movies and shows? Agents of Sheild is also very long, and is not at all canonical to the MCU, so why not watch stuff like Deadpool, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and all and then focus on remaining Phase 4 projects? I remember you saying you were pausing Phase 4 for now to watch stuff that leads into Spiderman: No Way Home, but AoS is not even canon, so I wanted to know why watch such a long show and hold other stuff that are few in number?

I've seen Deadpool 1 and 2 already before I started my channel. I AM watching Daredevil and Jessica Jones and all of those other shows. Those TV series are all being done on Patreon and are being watched alongside my MCU journey here on the KZbin channel. It'll take a long time to get through - I'll be caught up completely with the MCU before I'm done all of these shows - and I'm watching them in a timeline order so I bounce around a bit. ☺️ What I watch for Patreon Exclusives does not impact my KZbin releases. Agents of SHIELD isn't stopping KZbin MCU reactions.
