@@Flabby555 Dax from Overdrive is the one who is rather irritating than funny, and he was nothing more than a plucky comic relief who never developed as a character at all. Ryunosuke is actually hilarious and I can actually relate to him because he is so loyal to his duties and often overreacts whenever he makes a mistake. And he wasn’t just there for comic relief, he actually developed as character by learning how to make decisions on his own when the time calls for it and he actually became less hammy as the series went on.

Personally I liked the Shinken Gold, I thought he's a perfect balance between the shows serious tone and the shows comedic tone and it's not like they overused him like other unfunny sentai tropes. Also there is one scene I absolutely love and that is the seen between him and Takeru, A really big highlight for me. As for the villains. I didn't mind them, yeah they were kinda weak but I felt the heroes made up for the villains shortcomings. As for the mecha I'm kinda a mixed. In one hand they are a little underwhelming but in the other hand I don't really care for mecha fights so I wasn't really thrilled nor particularly bothered by them. All and All good review. Btw I finally started watching Flashman because thank god the fan subbers got done with subbing the episodes. It has since became my drug these past two days.

I do agree, the heroes are able to make up for the sloppy writing of the villains, I just wish they had done more. Even if Dokoku couldn't go on land due to his injuries they could have done so much more with him. Enjoy Flashman. I'm kind of jealous it got fully subbed after I reviewed it, but that's cool. I've got plenty of other series to move to.

(24:26) I love it when they do that type of humor of silently letting the scene play out. The reveal of the formation, the sound of Takeru's origami flying by, Daisuke Gori's delivery. Adding to the fact that, again, here's no quirky music, no "wah wah waaah" or "boing" sounds, just conveying the joke silently. Teach kids to laugh at timing, not because Genta is mugging at the camera.

The fact that it is not fleshed out is probably what make Kagemusha plot work. It need to be sudden or the disconnect feeling won't work as there's feeling that audience is the one connected to her. Building it up will make it fleshed out but it make audience also attached to her while it supposed to not only make the retainers uncomfortable but also the audience since we also know that it's not the usual Shinkenger

A funny thing to note: besides Takeru and Kaoru, there were other two ShinkenReds that were shown the first ShinkenRed and Kaoru's father. I bring this up because both used to be blue rangers in previous series, with the first ShinkenRed being OhBlue and Kaoru's father being MegaBlue. And the funny thing comes when you realize that OhBlue and MegaBlue's Power Rangers counterparts, Rocky and T.J., were red rangers. I'm not going anywhere with this and I'm pretty sure this was just a coincidence and I'm just reading far into it, but it's a funny thing to note.

This is just an idea I had, but after Kaoru is introduced I would have had the red on Takeru's suit change to black, thus revealing he was actually a Black Ranger this whole time. I also kind of wish Takeru and Kaoru were just brother and sister like their Power Rangers counterparts. I just think that works better, even though I think Shinkenger is still better then Samurai overall.

Actually, make him gray, because we won’t be able to see the kanji on the helmets if it’s black. As for the kanji, make it (影) shadow. Suits his position as a kagemusha. Also, Takeru’s kagemusha position is more tragic and dramatic then having a secret sister.

It wuold be cool seen another samurai motif but this time having it mixed wirh an seacreature motif with the story being that an evil army wants to conquer an underwater kingdom and they need to destroy a city similar to tokio in order to get into the submerged kingdom but the leaders of the kingdom give the ability of surviving avobe water and can give them simplistic yet powerfull scaled armors (aka the ranger suits) and having parts of the palace where they live transformed into powerfull machines in order to prevent the invasion of the villains (and the sixt ranger is an ninja)

Shinkenger is one of my favourite sentai shows from the 2000s as I love the cast and Takeru is one of my favourite Red who is a badass and doesn't behave a complete idiot like many of the modern Red Rangers. I also agree that Kaoru should appear earlier so as to compare her leadership with Takeru and how the others have got used to Takeru's orders that it is difficult for the others to follow a new leader. Although I am a bit disappointed that only Kaoru return in future sentai team up and no news of Takeru whereabouts. But then it is also due to the actor being very popular in movies and shows after Shinkenger that it is very costly for him to appear again in reunion episodes.

Shinkenger is probably the best season in terms of Red focus. Takeru gets a lot of focus, but unlike seasons like Maskman, Ninninger or Kyuranger, not everything revolves around him. He's not the best at everything, he doesn't get all the power ups and most importantly he doesn't overshadow everyone else. All the Rangers have their own focus episodes, their own stories, their own character development. It's a perfect balance between Red focus story and character development for all the other Rangers. Still wondering why Yasuko Kobayashi is my favorite Tokusatsu writer?

Just finished it a few days ago, I had fun with it. I do think I liked the backstory for Dyuue and Dekker more in Power Rangers Samurai. I didn't hate Genta, he was a breath of fresh air to me. As for the monsters I saw, is that all of monsters has features of sea creatures. Akumarru I found to be a cool villain. Another thing I liked better in Samurai, the Lamp zord didn't talk. I give them credit to the fight on horse back, keeping those horses calm.

A knock-off inquires that it had nothing to do with the source material at all and is just copying it. Samurai uses the source material, so it's just that they did a direct adaptation, kind of a shot for shot remake as it were, of Shinkenger rather than creating their own thing. It's not the first time a PR series did this as Wild Force was nearly a copy and paste Gaoranger.

I didn't mind Samurai that much actually. My biggest issue is how the whole retainer aspect just doesn't work and obviously the soundtrack was inferior, but for the most part, I thought it was fine.

It would also help if you actually explained why so like a proper reviewer would. The vs for Shikenger and Go-Onger and the tonal clash is the fun part. When series of different tones clash thats what makes it fun. It makes it a fun chaotic sense of fun.

Good review as always, i see it as above average but not a great entry. The cgi overload and mecha designs are bad/ok while the cast and fight scenes are really good. Best of luck in the next sentai review.

You know I don't really hate power rangers samurai I do enjoy it I think the characters are likable enough and I do kind of like the humor my only real problem with samurai is that it was adopting from this is nothing more than a copy and paste job from shinkenger well I don't think Jaden is the worst red ranger as I do kind of like him I still prefer takeru those are just my thoughts

I don't know why you said that but I'm interested to see which one will be next. If you do Battle Fever J I do have one line for you to say that the only thing you might have to say positive on Satan Egos is that he is one of the franchise's biggest mysteries as we don't know much about him and the only hint is when he dies. Even bringing up that most of the other villains had some kind of origin to them but this does make us guess who he is or who he was. Let me know who do you think about this OK good.
