Ironically the Spanish guerrillas pursued the British during these battles but were allied with them 100 years later.

Great presentation on the almost forgotten battles in Spain. Interesting that the French co ordination with Spanish guerillas as opposed to the Napoleonic campaign in Spain.

Fact: the Duke of Vendome's name is Louis Joseph de Bourbon, a great grandson of King Henry IV of France. Also unlike his elder brother in Oudenarde, Philip V was able to cooperate with Vendome which gave him victories.

Philip V did work very well with Vendome. They were even said to talk to each other rather casually even on the battlefield.

Concerning the French troops participation in the battle under Vendome...below is an extract from Wikipedia : The Bourbon army was rapidly refitted and reorganized by French general the duc de Vendôme, who was lent to Philip V's service by the latter's grandfather, the Sun King. Spanish volunteers and regular units were joined by the Irish brigade and by French troops secretly directed to enter Spanish service.

Nice work ! Just a few words, according to Fadi El Hage, Vendôme was the only frenchman fighting in theses battles. There were no French regiment sended in Spain at this time.

@@skiteufr Yes indeed, my concern was the Vendôme military's campaign in 1710, not the Berwick's one three years earlier. By the way, I'm seeking some informations about the battle of Fleurus in 1690. In his book "The nine year's war and the British army" John Childs assure that some british units were present but I don't find anything in the Waldeck's allied OB.

What a battle ! It shows that it is in battle that glory is won , there is no other source of it , in this world . I thought the battle was very well explained. Adding computerized animated figures makes it cutter , but it does not add to the clarity of the explanation, which was crystal clear .

its crazy you crank out so much high quality content and only have 4k subscribers. need to figure out what the youtube algorithm trick is. Maybe putting DOCUMENTARY in the titles, one history channel i watch does that.

The upshot: the British have lost more battles and wars with Spain than with any European power. Only in the Seven Years’ war was there a decided advantage.
