I like the vid, and it reminds me of my high school days: I was big into art, music, and English as well (that being my native language). I am a senior high school student and let me tell you this point system is nothing compared to the stream system. Students are being sorted to different streams based on grades. Only class toppers in the have a lot of choices, average students get a small amount of choices, struggling students don't have a choice some of them are being told they are not capable of studying like the other students.

In my school (in America, sadly), English and literature are one in the same. At least in 8th grade. We learn different things (like.. like grammar) but we also read. A lot. Our current English unit is on World War II and the Holocaust. I swear I’m only passing because of this unit. Luckily, instead of doing a class group (like we did with Frankenstein), we’re in smaller groups with a small collection of books we could choose from. I chose The Diary of A Young Girl (it was recommended so many times) and I cannot stress enough about how good this book is. While hard to decipher, it gave our group many interesting and deep topics to talk about. Also, English is my favorite subject. I like writing (especially timed) and when we get writing assignments, I’m always complimented on my great writing, not to flex 😎

5:02 My entire school has similar system known as "House Points" (They were originally called merits before getting changed to House Points). It's basically where if you do something good in class and around school, you get rewarded with a House Point and those House Points add up to the total amount of Points your House gets. There are four Houses: Tomlinson (Yellow), Jonesbu Cannon (Blue), Hockney (Green), and Ennis (Red). Each House is named aftercan influential person. My school also has House competitions where you can compete to win House Points for your House

My ratings (for all the subjects I’ve taken) ELA/English/Literature : 9/10 - Love writing stories, love reading. Math : 6.5/10 - I don’t like doing math in general but in my class, we do games, fun activities and sometimes it’s not even math. Social Studies/History : 4/10 - I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT STAND HISTORY. I do good in it but I hate it.. Science: 8.5/10 - 3 words- Projects and experiments Gym : 7/10 - I like doing fun games like floor hockey, soccer and tennis but we run so much.. Music : 9.5/10 - YESSSSS WE GET TO PLAY PIANO, MARACAS, BELL SET, ETC I LOVE ITTTT Performing Groups : 8/10 - It’s basically music but we have to play only 1 instrument and we stay with that instrument for the rest of the year (I do flute) Art : 100/10 - Art D.A.R.E. : 9/10 - It isn’t really fun talking about drugs and stuff but we get rewards Computer Ed. : 7.5/10 - All we do is type on our keyboards :( C.A.I. : 5/10 - Its basically Comp. 5:15 trust me if I was your school I would struggle with the point system, cause I'm a fairly smart student in things that interest me. Like ELA, Science, and even history. Going into American History this school year. And twice, only me and the teacher knew about a thing in a certian ancient civilization. In the Ancient Greek section, I was the only one who knew about the labyrinth and the Minotaur, and in that same unit I asked a question about the Trojan War, mainly due to the fact I saw the horse the soldiers were inside and snuck into Troy, and asked if it was the Romans of Greeks who tricked the Trojans by putting soilders into the giant wooden horse.

I honestly love art, especially because every art teacher (and the only two art teachers) I've ever had were the best (aside from my 5th grade teacher), especially my art teacher in 7th and 8th grade, because she was so fun and was a huge anime and Legend of Zelda fan, so she got along with so many of the students at my school.

I’m in 6th grade and for my first year in middle school I got lucky, my English teacher is the best she is relatable, she is lgbtq+, she likes anime, and we listen to some of the same music, and is over all amazing she deserves an award especially when she yells at the class and just started in the second semester meanwhile I would have yelled at them on the second day

@@creative.cloudy be careful who your friends are ( they might change) be yourself, care about your grades, don’t be a know it all, listen to the teacher, don’t get into any drama, and of course be nice and if you know some is having trouble with school or out side of school be supportive and help ( but no cheating) also I wouldn’t start dating either but these apply to me and the people around me every teacher is different, good luck it’s not as bad as it seems as long as you make good decisions

I live in Vietnam and in my school, there are just Vietnamese (When you are in a higher grade, it will change its name into Literature. I love Literature btw), English and Japanese (I don't have a chance to learn it and I would hate to learn it anyway). All I dream about it's just a school with German as an official subject. I have to learn it on my own, without teachers and classes, so I'm bad at it. Rating my classes: English: 10/10, Actually my favorite. We get 20 minutes of free time to read whatever books we want, and we have writing projects every other week where we get to write a 1-2 page essay or story on whatever topic the teacher gives us. Our most recent one was a historical fiction story from the perspective of an old pirate. Also, we're reading the Odyssey as a class and our teacher talks a lot about Greek myths and I freaking LOVE Greek myths. And also, I have three classes with the english teacher (Homeroom, English, and Elective). Math: 7/10, the math teacher's really nice and understanding, and the stuff we learn is pretty easy for me, so I don't really need to pay attention to the lessons in class to understand the assignment. The teacher saw me sketching in class once while she was giving the lesson-we were watching a video on the smart board and she was just walking around- and instead of getting mad or anything, she just stopped to peak over my shoulder and then later when class ended she said I was a good artist. So the teacher's great, and the work is pretty easy for me (I have a 100% grade in math and I will never shut up about it). My only complaint is that along with the homework we do, we have to do this thing called I-ready which is just like an online math game where every day we get new lessons on some random topic. The tutorials are so long and it's so boring cuz I already know all this stuff, but we have to do 45 minutes of I-ready every week. Social Studies: 5/10, Really depends on what topic we're studying. Ancient Greece/Rome unit, World Religions unit, and French Revolution unit? Loved it. The Enlightenment, Doing Proper Research Essays, and the American Revolution? Could care less. Nowadays it's getting more and more boring, but at least we get to listen to music in class. Although I'm probably failing because I refuse to do the assignments bc they're all so boring. The elective that doesn't really have a name: 9/10, This elective doesn't have a clear name because we do a lot of different stuff in it, but it's taught by my ELA and Homeroom teacher. We do smth called Edclub which is just a website that teaches you to type fast, but we also have sketching assignments. The teacher will like pull up a video tutorial of how to draw a rose, or you can go online and find references/tutorials to draw a rose on your own. It's awesome. We also did a slideshow presentation where you would team up with a partner and choose any big problem in society right now and present about why it's such a problem, how to solve this problem, etc. Me and my friend did a presentation on LGBTQ+ rights, and teacher pulled us aside after the presentation to tell us that we were really brave to talk about it and that it was a good topic. Science: 3/10. Why. Why does this exist. I don't even want to talk about science but it's hell. Gym: 3/10, We have Gym once every three days, but the weird thing is that we don't actually HAVE a gym at our school because the school is new and broke. Instead we have to go outside to the field every day. And since we live in Minnesota, most of the year it's either windy, muddy, slippery, snowy, rainy, or a combination. We have to run like 5 laps around a giant field every class and then we spend the rest of the time playing some rip off of a popular game like "Capture the Chicken"-capture the flag but with a bunch of rubber chickens instead of flags, for some reason- and "Noodle Tag"-freeze tag but you hit people with pool noodles instead of just tapping them. Music: 4/10, again we have this class once every three days as the last class of the day, but it's really weird. We start every class listening to some song the music teacher picked out, but the thing is that it's all really old music from like the 70's that sounds awful and no one in the class likes it but we have to listen to it anyway. He also made us watch a play version of the Magic Flute or something and uh... let's just say it was interesting. Leadership: 4/10, if you're questioning why we have this as a class, I am too. I guess it's because our school is literally called a "Leadership Academy" (it's actually in the name so-), but the thing is it's the most pointless subject. I'm not even sure what the class is supposed to be about half the time because one day we'll be talking about substance abuse, another day we'll be discussing budgeting and money management, and another day we'll be talking about mental health. And I mean it's not like they aren't important subjects, and it's probably a good thing that we're being taught those things except the teacher isn't good at explaining. They literally just pull up an online slideshow about the topic and read from the slides. Most of us are old and mature enough to know what this stuff is, but the teacher's just explaining what it is, not how to deal with it. If they actually helped us deal with things like mental health and substance abuse the way they explained it, then it would be a GREAT class and I'd be really glad that we get to take it.
