Looking at the combined mode it feels like they designed X Emperor and Lupinkaiser to combine and then they suddenly remembered they needed to put the Patranger's vehicles on as well so they just stuck them on.

Yeah when Pat 1 just got stuck on top that was the moment I just lost any sense of interest in this combined mode, one of it not the most laziest zord placement for a combined mode I have ever seen.

The thing that really gets me about it is it is literally just stuck on top, there is nothing to fill the gaps and the combination of how far the front of Pat 1 sticks out as well as Lupin Red's tail fins basically makes it really difficult to see the face unless you are looking straight on and are shining a light on it. From the front it almost looks like the head is getting sandwiched.

You didn’t use the change gimmick right. When the weapon go “X-Nize” you need to twist again, depending on the head the gun is pointing the other side will be the side you will change into. Also the summon gimmick you didn’t show. Simply twist twice and pull the trigger (provided that you already changed before)

If you want an Ultrazord done right, take a look at the Dino Ultrazord from the original Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, it is well design, has a fantastic concept of dinosaurs combining into one big zord, it is a combination of all zord, not ALL of them to exact (It only uses Titanus's front paws and chest piece), but a good amount so that people could tell that it is an Ultrazord, and that was the VERY FIRST Ultrazord to be created.

Well, the collectathon is Toei's new business strategy, and judging by how the shows have been looking recently, they've been getting quite a bit of money off of it. So, it's a tradeoff; better shows for more cluster-y toys. ToQ Rainbow can still go fuck itself, though.

Peaked with Gaoranger. Pretty much he ultimate megazord builders. A few arm zords have elbows, and leg components have knees iirc. Older ones like zyuranger onwards are pretty normal and redundant. Shit hits the fan with gokaiger and kyoryuger. Zyuohger is just plain trash.

just some extra info, the gun also doubles as the transformation item for lupin/patren x, and to access that mode you need to twist the gun in any configuration once till it says "x-nize" then twist it again and you'll hear a "kaitou x-change" or "patren x-change". when yiu hear that sound just press the trigger and you'll hear the transformation noise. the gold train is for patren x and the silver train is for lupin x. hope this helps

3:38-3:46 first of all, I got my set and there was no problem with the smokestack. Second of all, the hole was unavoidable, there’s a sliding door in the show but they couldn’t make that work in toy form, they simply couldn’t.

I waited to watch this until I got mine in the mail today, and I have a lot of similar complaints (but not all the same, oddly), the only big one not mentioned being that Silver and Fire make poor feet and you can't stick Gunner's arms out without it trying to fall forward. I also saved that magazine scan you mentioned, and now I feel a bit gipped because they're basically completely different, with more paint, better proportions, better heads. They're entirely different toys. They still have the pegs and raised portions for VSX's feet, so they it's not like they added that and that changed anything. The first pictures of VSX also appear to be of that version of the toy since you can see the c-clips and wheels on the underside of Silver and Gold, and they're molded in the same colors as the toys rather than the black they ended up as on the final release. I really want to know what happened with this and why they scrapped the entire original mold. Also, I bought two for display purposes, and Gunner does not fit on my shelf since his head is too tall.

Pretty sure the knob on X Train Gold isn't meant to simulate a dial, since it's the Patranger mode, so much as simulate the front of a classic steam locomotive. Also, you didn't properly show off the X Changer or VS Changer sounds. And yes, Good Cool Kaiser VSX has odd proportions...in toy form. On the show, they'll probably give the suit much better proportions, because they can cheat like that, but the toy needs to make it work in real life.

I think you missed the point on this product, its a toy, for children, sure it may not be cohesive or as robust as a high end figure or gunpla it still holds charm to how unique it is I think it's also best to watch the show to fully appreciate the toys, the review felt very hollow otherwise, there was absolutely no need to criticise it on not looking like a gun

If I were to redesign the big combination, I'd probably stick with the head and chest formations, then have #3 and Yellow as arms for the melee, then #2 and Blue as shoulder guns. Rework Good Striker, Fire, and Thunder to clip in on the outside of the feet. As for Gold and Silver, I'm not quite sure what to do with them.

Actually as silly as it sounds, in Lupin X mode the gun fires from the barrel beneath the trains, which would've prevented the wrist-twisting thing you mentioned It's only in Patren X mode that the train itself IS the gun barrel that fires the shots

I think my favorite bit about the combo, is just how many exposed pegs are left.... and there are a ton of artillery vehicles I can stick to them to have a bit of fun~ And on your theory... not really. I think there is a right way and a wrong way to do mecha-transformations-device-gimmick integration. The right way is like with Kyuranger and Kyoryuger, were the they had small transformation items that could also go into the mechas. The wrong way is like with Lupinranger VS. Patranger, and to a slightly lesser extent, ToQger, were the mechas are the gimmick items. I say “to a slightly lesser extent” for ToQger since they didn’t use the entirety of each mecha as the gimmick item, only one part, so they could at least make them look more interesting. With Lupinranger VS. Patranger, the entire mechas are one gimmick item, so they become extremely limited in what they can do. So much so that the majority of them can only serve as arms. And that makes a super combined mode of several of these mechas really awkward. It just feels like these vehicles were made as gimmick items first and how they worked as a part of a mecha was just an afterthought, with the mecha stuff not really being thought about all the way through. With the gold and silver train set, it felt like the opposite, where it was just suppose to be the two X Emperor modes first, and the idea of it being a set of trains, a set of gimmick items, a transformation device, and how it combined with the other mechas were just afterthoughts. Hell, the reason I can give the TV show version of the X Changer and VS Vehicle mode a chance is because they cover up the big gaping hole on the X Train Gold, having it pull itself out of the way during the combination sequence. Why couldn’t they have something to fill in that gap for the toy? Hell, why couldn’t they have designed it so the head piece becomes the part that fills in that big gap instead of making it a big funnel piece? It would have worked so much better.
