Thank you for this video! I just built a version of this today and as a bonus, I was able to prop my weight bench on the platform in a way that I can use the pulley to do leg curls and leg extensions. Great content!

Looking forward to the upcoming videos. Wall in the background looks awesome. I really like your wood stain idea. I have done a few DIYs with some scrap wood and got some cheap left over stains from a local mom and pop paint shop. The said add an extra pop to the gym.

Great idea for the catch lever. I would like to incorporate that idea on my tower, however I’m not well versed with woodworking. How did you create that pivot point? Did you use a spacer sleeve and then slide a bolt through? Or did you just drill a hole big enough for the bolt? Thank you for the great content!
@KaizenDIYGym5 ай бұрын
Thanks! I drilled a hole for the bolt.

Great channel!!!! Now that the railtrainer company closed, is there any alternative to their retractable pulley system? I really love the idea of how you can change the length of cord in a flash. thanks in advance!

As always, sick build! Quick question concerning the pulley placement. It looks like you positioned the pulley under the fourth 2x4 (you mentioned wall stud so I’m assuming it’s a 2x4). At roughly 12 inches back from the base of the cable pulley tower, are you satisfied with the placement? It looks awesomely comfortable for belt squats, yes, but I’m thinking about using the back edge of the platform in conjunction with a seal pad for donkey calf raises. Thanks!
@KaizenDIYGym8 ай бұрын
Yes, the placement is perfect for me. This is the second version I’ve made and the pulley on the first was way too close to the tower.

Kyle, just a chain from your belt to the overhead with a carabiner on both ends. Start and stop in the standing position but clipping / unclipping the carabiner at the top, without having to worry about bits of wood.
@KaizenDIYGym11 ай бұрын
That is definitely something I'll try to incorporate

@humansnotai49124 ай бұрын
@@amsterbyu It's so simple: a chain from the belt going straight up to the caribeaner at the cable in front of your face. When you standing it holds all the weight, unclip it and you're folding all the weight, No idea how to up load a photo on you tube,

Do you think the platform would add enough stability on its own to forgo bolting the tower to the wall?
@KaizenDIYGym11 ай бұрын
No. I would still recommend bolting it to the wall or something equally sturdy
@danielxavier27019 ай бұрын
I built a platform using a wooden 48" x 30" Ikea table I had lying around..glued and screwed 2 plys of 1/2 inch plywood to the top and fixed the pulley on top as I didn't need to recede it. I simply bolted the single stack to the back 1/2 of the platform which is pretty heavy and stable with the optional BOS back upright, does not tilt even during weighted dips.

@@KaizenDIYGym whats the reason the companys dont want it? safety issues?
@John-gx9yc10 ай бұрын
This might make the whole piece look kind of awkward, but can’t you simply use 2 4x4 posts vertically, 1 2x4 horizontally across the 4x4 tops, and 2 2x4s running at an angle on each outside of the platform, to create a railing to hang on to while squatting? Do we think this would be functional and sturdy? I’m not liking the idea of grabbing the weight plates as 1.) I don’t have those kind of plates 2.) I feel that with significant weight / over time of use, the extra force pulling toward you (if you develop that habit) could damage/bend your weight stack smith bars.
@KaizenDIYGym10 ай бұрын
That’ll probably work. I typically don’t go super heavy on these belt squats. The tower has a max of 300 pounds.
@John-gx9yc10 ай бұрын
