I’m very new to Go but this way of breaking down strategy and reasoning is very insightful and informative. I really enjoyed this breakdown and hope to see more like it!

It's here! I'm really glad we get to see the rest of the game! Matthew's a great presenter.

Matthew really does have a knack for breaking down complex Go concepts 😉

Would have been nice to show more variations, like what would black have done in that upper left if Sakata didn't get the sente hane ?

Thank you! As a layman who wants to learn the game and the history I like this analysis and stories of actual games. 😊 It would have been nice to see why he actually resigned as for a beginner it is not all that obvious (potiential outcome and final areas and points, etc.), meaning "finishing" the game (like in a chess analysis ("here Magnus Carlsen resigned because in five moves like this and that and here and there he would get check mated" 😉))

Thank you for the lovely feedback! 😊 You’re absolutely right, for beginners, it’s not always clear why a player resigns in Go, since the outcome isn't as immediately obvious as in chess. For this specific video we missed this part because it was intended for 10k+ players. In fact, pro players like the ones in the video have a superior counting skills and know who's ahead long before the end of the game.

nice commentary it would have been nice to see you play out how Kajiwara thought he could kill white's territory in the upper left. As a very inexperienced player, that territory looks big and strong enough to withstand any invasion, no matter the move

I agree. That 2nd line move didn't look like sente to kill the corner to me. It looked like gote to protect 8-10 points on the left.
