Informative. Now to play a game and completely forget all that I have absorbed. As is tradition.

This video is not meant to teach you new tricks. But more advanced lessons are probably better to be rewatched for max efficiency =)

I really like Takemiya Masaki's "Universe Style". I've used this to beat many players several levels above me.

funny thing is, according to KataGo black's extension move on the bottom side (O4) is 2 points better than the attack on the white stone (C13). Although, O4 extension also server as a very high pressure move on the lone white stone in the right corner

Haha, that's one of those things where we as educators allow ourselves to disagree with AI sometimes, if it makes for a more logical and humanly conceivable line of play.

Takemiya Masaki actually lost that game! :) and looking at their history seems like Chikun won way more than Takemiya. Does that mean that the taking corners is more effective?

This is exciting. Stimulating. Some people inside the box value the idea of thinking outside the box, whereas some of the people outside the box argue that there is no box, and even further some people make the argument that not only is there a box, but that there is a cat in the box, which opens up this whole debate, since there are those that disagree and feel that there is neither a box nor a cat 🐈. The universe is a three dimensional go board of implications and possibilities. Just my two cents. Looking forward to learning from and playing with you! Cheers!

or...it's just about territory vs influence =)
@GG-iy2oz Жыл бұрын
Great video! I have a question: would you say that investing on influence by pushing the opponent towards the corner is less convenient on a 13x13 board, as there is less territory at the center?
@GoMagic Жыл бұрын
Difficult question! I think yes, the value of corners on 13 should be higher...

I'm confused at 6:08. I thought territory had to be fully surrounded by a single colour's tiles to be counted - as in no gaps in the wall. But here you say that last move transforms the potential energy of the wall into territory. But it's not surrounded yet right? Is my understanding completely wrong? Or are you just meaning black is now in a much better position to convert that space into territory in the future?
@GoMagic8 ай бұрын
Your understanding is correct! No worries. It was a poetic exaggeration, Vadim was just trying to show that while White was running and making zero points, every move of Black counted toward that potential territory at the top. White could still try to invade there though.
