There was no reason to make madara so beyond sanity OP etc. No reason for the repeated evil guy comebacks etc. The entire war arc canon chapters feel like 50-80% padding because people were so hyped to finally see the story conclude so they milked the manga far too much with a gazillion twists.

His “cycle of hatred” speech def shows naruto how hypocritical he was being IN THE MOMENT, and leads to naruto finding another answer/more conviction in order to find a better way forward by confronting his own hypocritical mindset . That doesn’t mean pain was “correct” but he was written in a way that exposed the holes in Naruto’s world view. Plus……he’s just dope asf and soloed an entire nation ….so he has the “cool factor” plus the great writing

The Pain Invasion Arc always put out Power Scaling clearly without Dispute. Jiraiya is the man. He took down 3 Pains while gathering intel. Needed all 6 Path of Pains to kill him. Kakashi even with a little more intel, struggles with 1 Pain. Tag team with Choza and Choji still lost to 1-2Pains. If they had faced 3 Pains like Jiraiya, they would have all died there.

The Fat Chakra Absorbing one or the Summoning One both are more dangerous than the Asura’s puppet body. Regardless Kakashi was fighting alongside with Akimichi Shitō(Ninja Databook confirmed Jounin), Choza(another Jounin), Choji plus reinforcements. The results they delivered were pathetic. Kakashi death in this fight is undeniable. If they faced off with 3x Pains, everyone including Choji would have been decimated. I was just comparing the outcome where Jiraiya came up on top over 3x Pains. Pain had to bring forth all 6 paths of Pain to win. Even Pain himself exclaimed, it has been a long while since Pain was stretched that much.

Itachi and "Madara/Tobi" are just extremely more illusive to kill like Orochimaru due to creativity, skill and intellect. But Pain is THE powerhouse of the Akatsuki. There's a reason he was chosen to be the front man.
