It's not crazy...our neighbours are always in a war...coz D.R.C,Sudan,South Sudan,Somalia are our neighbours...the last war in Ethiopia was in 2022,Eritrea is described as the North Korea of Africa...we would be overwhelmed by our neighbours if we didn't try to detain some in refugee camps...Uganda is more welcoming and they have 1.7M refugees...Kenya has about half but in real numbers, its more because we have somalis who can't speak swahili or English in eastleigh so...illegal migrants ...we have Congolese people who claim asylum in Uganda and still head onto Kenya...South Sudanese people in Nairobi...our number of total refugees is unknown because of the illegal migrants

Why are Rwandans still living as refugees in Kenya when Rwanda is a stable and well-developed country, arguably more advanced than Kenya in many aspects? It’s puzzling that they remain in camps despite the peace and progress Rwanda has achieved. When our Gen Z generation takes over the government in 2027, we’ll address this issue. Refugee camps shouldn’t be a permanent solution, and it's time to facilitate their return to their home countries where they can rebuild their lives and contribute to their nation’s growth.

@SimonMamichaa I have an issue with the refugee situation in Kenya. Back in the 1900s, the British brought Sudanese soldiers (the Nubians) to suppress our freedom fighters. Now, over 100 years later, they’re still in places like Kibera, holding onto citizenship and refusing to fully integrate. I strongly oppose unchecked immigration and refugees-if you disagree, that’s your problem. Some Burundians and Rwandese are also causing trouble in areas like Rongai and Nakuru, with police confirming this. One day, we might face a situation like South Africa's.

@DWThe77Percent it should've been developed into a neighborhood. The UN bodies and Other organisations along with the government could have built decent out and urban planners could have actually had a grid system. Have someone that's head of the group and a few others be accountable for one another. (Corruption) Build a School and a small Hospital. Have men from the community to patrol and keep the area clean and safe. ACTUALLY give them a deed to said properties so they WILL have a sense of belonging and contribute to the fabric of the Kenyan demographic culture and economics. Give the area opportunity to have businesses run by said residents. What will happen some will stay and make it work setting down roots. others will make money and move away or even out of Kenya

There should be never a refugee or camp in the world let alone in Kenya. War is a big business sad. It’s truly disheartening how conflicts can result in such humanitarian crises. Refugee camps, like those in Kenya and many other countries, are a testament to the ongoing struggles caused by war, displacement, and instability. The idea that war is often driven by economic and political interests is something many have argued, and it only deepens the tragedy of those affected. For long-term solutions, addressing the root causes of conflict-such as inequality, political instability, and resource exploitation-could help prevent the need for refugee camps. International cooperation and policies focused on peace-building and sustainable development are critical in breaking the cycle of war and displacement.

So many can now safely return to their homeland but choose to stay in a refugee camp even though they know the conditions are poor and they're unlikely to be accepted or provisioned with the services by the Kenyan government. Only reason to stay put is they've made "refugee" their identity even though they are no longer a refugee as they are no longer fleeing war, etc.
